“Opulent!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 January 2014

The Foyer is simply glamorous with its opulent flower decorations (which always change!) and the different relaxing areas. We have dined at Versace before, so we were rather curious whether the rooms are as lovely as the dining experience. We booked one of the lagoon suites, an opulent 2-room suite with a lovely spa bath and a beautiful view over the Broadwater. Albeit being a stunning suite, we could not help but see that some of the furniture looked a bit worn, something we would not have expected from this otherwise opulent hotel.
The swimming pool was lovely and the spa area is sensational. However, we were quite disappointed about the service we encountered on entry to the spa. We were told in a rather harsh manner that we needed to book a time to come to the spa in order not to interfere with clients who book a day treatment in the spa area. At a 5* hotel, which charges 5* prices, a rules like this should not exist for paying guests.

Room Tip: Centered lagoon suite is quite pricey but is very spacey and has a great view!

Dear SteffiPaul2013

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on Tripadvisor.

At Palazzo Versace we are extremely proud of our beautiful foyer, and I am glad that you too thought it was a sight to behold.

I was disappointed to read your comments regarding the furniture - but excited to advise that we are slowly renovating our hotel (both in the public areas and in the rooms).

I do hope that you will once again take the opportunity to return to Palazzo Versace.

Warm Regards

I am so in love with this hotel! I have stayed here multiple times and it deserves it's 5 stars + some more. I am never disappointed and I always bring family and friends back. I really love staying here! The buffet brekky is just perfection my partner who thinks he is a foodie couldn't stop talking about it. All of the staff are wonderful, friendly, professional. You will feel like you are truly cared for if you stay at this hotel. I couldn't rave about it any more. From the moment you pull up in your car and the valet open your door until you check out with the fantastic staff you will be treated like royalty. I would definitely recommend trying the high tea in the beautifully decorated lobby that smells of wonderful lavender. Trust me, stay here you will not be disappointed.

Firstly we didn't get the king size bed that was part of the booking 6 weeks ago. The access room cards keep malfunctioning. Nowhere near enough area around the pool to sit and relax in the shade. It is now 2.30 pm and our room still hasn't been serviced, won't be for at least an hour and a half. Not good enough!!!. Won't be coming back here on a hurry.

We stayed in a nearby five star and a lovely lady who works there recommended your high tea to my wife and I and said to see your Christmas decorations. What a great recommendation, we enjoyed walking into your lobby seeing the decorations and the high tea was very nice. We are from Melbourne and will stay with you next time.

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel twice in the past and had cocktails and the buffet meals a number of times so I thought I should finally review our most recent visit.
I love this hotel and will visit any chance I get but it is not to everyone's liking ( including my husbands as he says the feeling and decor is sharp and angular and not relaxing). For me however it is like walking into a world apart. It starts with the cool feeling of tiles underfoot, the click of high heels in the large expanse of cool tropical colors, the alluring fragrance pumped through the air conditioning. The huge glass windows through which the pool complete with sand and tropical palms can be viewed.
Anyway on to the buffet breakfast. This is a small but smart restaurant. The decor, including furniture, crockery etc are all classic Versace. If you are a guest at the hotel you can choose to sit outside by the pool in heavy wrought iron chairs. The breakfast selection is your usual fare with some Japanese dishes thrown in, eggs cooked to order, a big fruit selection and the usual pastries. The service is good but not great as we tried to flag someone down to order more coffees.
The good thing about Palazzo Versace hotel for me is that I always feel rejuvenated after being here. It is definitely an experience not to be missed if you are into fancy hotels.

The hotel itself was actually being painted when we arrived so all the corridors stunk like paint and there was paint cans everywhere.

The breakfast buffet was amazing but make sure you arrive early because if you go close to the end of service they don't bother filling anything up. Also if you ask for items to be topped up you'll be waiting a long time and they never come.

The pool is amazing and the ambience around the pool areas is fantastic and relaxing, can't fault it.

Do not under any circumstances go to the expensive fine dining restaurant in the hotel, it was the worst meal we've ever had in our lives! Beyond horrible. The food was uneatable, unimaginative, & beyond the general fine dining standard. The service was cold and sterile.

We have stayed at many other hotels on the gold coast and they were not as good as the Versace but in terms of all the hotels throughout the world that even have a lower rating I definitely do not rate this one - old and dated.

We ate there twice during our holiday at Gold Coast to experience the elegance of the hotel. The dinner buffet in Il Barocco was good but service was so so. We wanted to sit at a different table rather than the table right next to the entrance but was told that the restaurant was fully booked. Well, we got there at 6:30pm and the restaurant was not full. It wasn't full at 8pm as well. So it was just an excuse not to change our table. Yet, the food was great and fresh.

We also ate at the Le Jardine and the service was not good. The waitress sprayed glass cleaning liquid on me and my daughter while cleaning the table. They also took 45 minutes to deliver simple salads and fries.

Glad that we stayed in the Sheraton across the road instead of Palazzo Versace.
