“AWESOME!!!!! The place to stay for ALL the family!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 December 2013

WOW!! If you have kids and want a relaxing, fun filled holiday, Treasure Island is the place to stay! I decided to stay at Treasure Island as it's central to all the theme parks and Treasure Island itself offers so much to do for all the kids of any age, while the adults get to relax.

Checked in Mon 04/11/13 for a 10 night stay, by very friendly, helpful staff. If you're not a member of NRMA, that's OK. I chose the option of joining at check-in and although it didn't give me much of a further discount off my booking, it's well worth it when it gives you 50% off all the kids activities. Having 4 children 4-16 yrs, this was a must. Maybe there could be a FAMILY discount on activities and equipment hire, rather than charge each individual child, to make it more affordable for families. I don't mind paying for the activities and hire, as maintenance is required but it does add up when you have a few kids.

We stayed in the Pandanus Villa 6 pax and I was VERY impressed! Having 2 ensuites was essential with 4 kids. Having your own washer/dryer was awesome and all the appliances are high end brands. I would recommend instructions being available for use of washing machine/dryer, microwave and dishwasher, as I found them a bit tricky to operate at 1st because I didn't know the model. HINT: although there is only cold water supplied to the washing machine, it has an inbuilt heater in it, which gives you warm/hot washes as well as cold. As I stayed 10 nights, I took my own dishwashing tabs and washing powder but the resort does supply these in satchels along with everything you need in the kitchen, bathroom and if there's anything extra you may require, the staff are very helpful and friendly with any request.

The villa was very clean but as there were quite a few mozzies in the villa when we arrived, may I suggest accommodation being checked before arrival by staff. It's QLD and impossible not to have mozzies and the staff were very quick in running me up some flyspray to attack the mozzies ( 5 days later I saw the flyspray under the kitchen cupboard :) ) I scored the King size bed, which was very comfortable but the 2 older children found the mattress' on the bunks a bit thin and not too comfy. Having aircon in the bedrooms as well as the lounge room was great. I loved the BBQ on the patio with it's modern outdoor setting to relax on, while still having plenty of room to move.

Under the stars movie night was fantastic, we all took pillows and blankets to snuggle up as a family to watch a movie all the family could enjoy. When we had days off from going to the theme parks, the kids zoomed around on the karts, played basketball and tennis and loved the jumping pillow. We all played numerous games of mini golf and enjoyed being together in the lagoon and waterfall pools, then relaxing in the spas. The pools are kept clean and well maintained, with plenty of shade over the many lounges available to relax on. If you want to relax while the kids swim, they're never out of your sight at the pools.

Our villa was situated at the rear of the park, so we didn't hear any traffic and it was nice and quiet. Opposite the villa were some tent/van sites which backed directly onto the canal. For safety issues, I would recommend this being fenced off as my son's ball went into the water and he slipped down the embankment onto sharp rocks trying to retrieve it.

We ate at the bistro and the food was very enjoyable and affordable. BIG servings as well, so go to dinner hungry and guaranteed you won't leave hungry! Pizza n Pasta night was our favourite, with a variety of dishes to choose from.

Being located halfway between Harbourtown and Coles (200m either way), was very handy to do the grocery shop for the stay and a fantastic day of shopping at Harbourtown. If you want a night off from cooking, there's plenty of food places within walking distance.

Will definitely make this our YEARLY family holiday!! The convenience of having everything you need, the location, kids activities and the very helpful and friendly staff, make paying that little bit extra in accommodation well worth it. Maybe there could be a FAMILY tariff for the villa's, t/houses and unit's instead of increasing the tariff per person staying??? An EXCELLENT holiday all round and would like to thank the staff for their friendly, courteous and 5* customer service.

Room Tip: Pandanus Villas only accommodation with washer/dryer

I called to make a booking after the website wouldn't allow me to get as far as paying and was helped by a lady over the phone. She then couldn't get the same price as online, but said she would query it with reception and get back to me the following day. No contact had been made after 3 days so i called to query the booking price and received the most disgusting customer service ever! The lady i spoke to tried to say they don't do call backs and made it sound like she was calling me a liar... she then found the booking and said it cost XXX I then said that it is more than originally quoted so id not take that... Before i could even say BUT i would instead like to book another type of accomadation instead, She ended the call immediately with a quiet and distant thankyou bye....If that's how booking staff treat their potential guests, then i dread to think how they treat you onsite once they have your money??? A big thumbs down before my family had even gotten there. They need to record and retrain their booking staff smartish!!!

Thank you for your feedback.
Special online rates are available to all guests who choose to booking via our website rather than over the phone. In light of the events described in your review, and to allow us to further review the situation, could we ask that you contact the Park Manager directly so we can gain clarity with regards to the circumstances surrounding your experience. This is certainly not reflective of the level of service that we are renowned for or are proud of. We receive large amounts of positive feedback about our customer service, and pride ourselves on our ability to not only meet, but also to exceed the expectations of our guests. We are keen to work out where the process fell down on this occasion. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Not overly impressed with this place. Good breakfast at the resturant. Unit was full of cockroach and silverfish, which they offered to spray but due to our toddler being inside we asked them to come back but we never saw them again. Bed needed replacment as it was well past its useful life. The pool and playgrounds are great our 3 year old loved them.

Thank you for your comments. With regards to the silverfish, we do get all our units sprayed at least twice a year as a minimum by a reputable service provider. Unfortunately the climatic conditions at certain times can cause isolated problems beyond our control, but we do our best to do everything we can to ensure the comfort of our guests.

We are unsure what style of accommodation you stayed in while visiting so we can't be sure as to the age of mattress, however, we can advise you that we do have a rolling program of cabin refurbishments and park upgrades. These works include the replacement of mattresses on our beds. On average our mattresses are all less than 3 years old. If you were to let reception know that you weren't happy we would have gladly found a new mattress or cabin for you. Next time please don't hesitate to ask.

One of our latest upgrades to the park is our new pirate themed waterpark with it's own dedicated toddler zone which will be opening in February 2014. If your son loved the pool then we are sure he will love the waterpark. We do hope you will decide to stay with us again. Enjoy your new years celebrations.

This place is rated 4 stars. I guess this only apply to the villa accommodation.
The tent site has solid hard as rock and is only patchy covered with.grass. I spent more than an hour banging a rock on my pegs - buy.in the end had to give up with the pegs only half way in the solid and a numb hand...
The camp kitchen has no fridge for guest, so don't bring any fresh food here.
We bought a package deal with unlimited Minigolf, 1 hour kids club daily, transfer to the theme parks and buffet dinner one evening.
No the Minigolf is closed for "revamping" throughout our booking period and we were reimbursed with 15$ voucher (no mention of this on the Web page), the.buffet is only served 2 nights a week and the transfer apparently incurs an extra charge...
Also the restaurant has a mix of loud tv with cartoon network and slot machines - enough to distract any child from eating. The camping is in a rather densely trafficked part of town, so ambient noice should be expected...
On the upside, we got 1 GB free wifi and the swimming pool is nice...
Bottom line: don't book this if you want to peg a tent and cook you own food and enjoy evening tranquillity.
If you want to hire a cabin or bring a mobile home and expect some evening action, this is probably a good site.
But.definitely not 4 stars for camping.

Thank you for your feedback about your stay with us at Treasure Island Holiday Park. We find it helpful to receive all kinds of feedback as it helps us to fix any identified issues and keep improving our guests experience at our park.

With regards to your specific concerns, we have a range of sites available for camping at Treasure Island Holiday Park. If you let us know at the front office we would be more than happy to place you on a different site, or offer the use of a hammer to assist.

While we have numerous BBQs around the park for our guests, we do also have a fully equipped camp kitchen with does have a refrigerator, so there are no problems with bringing or storing food.

It is unfortunate that the mini-golf was closed, however there is no perfect time to undertake these improvements. We were trying to get these works completed in the traditionally quieter period leading up to Christmas. We hope that you will return in the future to try it out, and also to take advantage of the new Pirate Themed Waterpark that you would have noticed we are also currently installing.

With regards your package, you are correct in that the buffets are only available 2 nights, however the package provides for one included buffet meal during the stay. There is an evening buffet on Tuesday and Friday and then a Sunday breakfast buffet; therefore during any 4 night package stay all guests would have access to one of the buffets. With regards to the other package inclusions, there is one free theme park transfer included in the package, however as the pass to Dreamworld that is also included free as part of the package is an unlimited pass, should guests want to take advantage of this great offer and visit the theme park more than once, they would need to pay for the additional transfers which is what I believe you are referring to in your comments.

I do hope that you will return again to take advantage of the many improvements we are offering, and I encourage you to bring any concerns that you may have during a stay to the attention of the park staff at the time as we will always try to provide a more enjoyable stay for you and your family.

We are sorry that you found your stay unsatisfactory and again thank you for providing us with your valuable feedback.

We stayed October 2012 it was great service and the prices were great as well.. Until this year where we tried to book again only to find out it was more expensive then the year before and I'm talking hundreds of dollars more and that's just for camping we ended up booking elsewhere and even tho I'm just one customer whom you lost business with there will be plenty others who find the prices of camping sites damn well expensive now!!

Thanks for your feedback. I wanted to bring it to your attention that we do actually have a price reduction sale on sites at the moment on our hot deals page of our website if you were not already aware. I also wanted to make it clear that we have not actually increased our prices by a large amount since 2012. I believe what may have happened is that you have possibly compared October prices to December/January prices, in which there is a rather large difference due to the time of year and demand. Please visit our website and view our seasons calendar and rate card so you can see that the prices are much cheaper during different times of the year. Thank you and we hope you will reconsider booking with us in the future outside of school holidays. We will also be reviewing our rates in line with our competitors in the new year, so please ensure you check again with us when looking at booking a holiday in the future in case of a rate reduction.

We stayed here with 3 children in tow. 11, 5 and 18 months.
the park facilities are lovely, clean and gardens well maintained.
We stayed in a Garden Villa which was perfect for us!
We found there to be lots for the kids to do, and I think it will be even more amazing once their new water park is built!
The cafe was great and meals were very well priced.
We had the Sunday breakfast Buffet and were delighted! The staff and Chef were also very friendly and happy!

The staff here were all wonderful. From the office, to the cleaners and the grounds keepers.

Thank you for making our little family trip one to remember. We're looking forward to coming back to see you soon!
