“Great family accomodation”
Reviewed 9 November 2013

We stayed four nights at Pelican Cove after reading reviews on trip advisor. Location was perfect for all theme parks and walking distance to beach and parks. The apartment was very clean and well maintained as was the whole complex. Really enjoyed our stay and will gladly recommend to family and friends and we will be visiting again!

We stayed in the apartments in Oct 2013. The apartments were clean and suitable to all our needs. We met here as part of a family reunion so the bbq area was great for us all. Great pool area that all the apartments look over. There is also a tennis court. Secure parking for your car. The ladies that look after the apartments are very helpful. Short drive to Sea world. About 20 min to Movie World. Close to a variety of shops. Best to have a car. Would stay there again.

3 adults and 3 children were in our group so we needed a 3 room apartment. We stayed for 10 days and had linen changes half way through our stay. We were in Apartment 22, (middle of 3 levels, and on the end of the "U" shaped accommodation block). We found it quiet with minimal noise from surrounding apartments. Our main living area was on the "end" of the U and had a beautiful outlook onto the canal. Some infrequent noise from boat engines on water but no traffic noise. There was air conditioning in the living area (management requests no lower than 24 degrees and this was fine). Our apartment had an en suite and main bathroom (but no locks on doors of bathrooms!), front loading washing machine, dryer, and full kitchen with all the things we needed and large fridge / freezer. Small washing line and pegs provided on balcony too. DVDs were available to hire but didn't need them as kids TV channels available on the huge TV (along with good choice of other channels). (Great for those 5am starts before the pool available while adjusting to time differences!) For dining there were only four seats around a small table which meant we couldn't all sit at the table for meals, but there were also 3 bar stools by the breakfast bar. The living area had a large leather sofa and two armchairs. (There were also a table and chairs on the balcony but the balcony was very small so not really used apart from drying washing).

The bedding configuration was 2+2+(1+1) so we took an air bed for one child to sleep on the floor in rather than share a bed with an adult (or we could have hired a roll away bed). Free-standing rotating fans in bedrooms were perfectly adequate to maintain comfortable temperature. (Only downside was that double bed in smaller double room had to be moved to access the power point as cords were very short - and in the single beds room the fan had to be between the two beds close to head end for the same reason...maybe management / apartment owner could look at some extension cords particularly in single beds room and smaller double room? Having said that, I'm sure that had we requested some, management would have done their best to supply them). Good curtains too, that closed in the middle!

Pool area (7am-9pm) was fantastic with spa heated from 3-9pm each day, lots of deck chairs and couple of shade umbrellas. Two main pools, one not heated, both had shallow areas around edges and deepened to about 1.8m deep in middle. (We brought own pool toys for kids to use eg dive balls and plastic blow-up ball). Towels available for hire to take to pool area etc. Clean BBQ area adjacent to pool area with plenty of seating around. The resident curlew (bird) family thrilled the kids and notices around advised us to keep a safe distance from the protective parents of a juvenile. A half tennis court was also available (racquets and balls available to hire).

Reception was well staffed, friendly and helpful, and any problems were quickly dealt with. (TV was not working first day and fan/light unit was fixed as soon as we advised not working). Very helpful in sorting theme park tickets to get best value for money (hint: cheaper to purchase online before going on holiday!) Nice touch to have the expected weather forecast written on the white board for the next few days. (Day time temps 24-36 degrees while staying October). There was also a free book/ magazine swap. Secure underground car parking was also provided. The height limit was too low for the vehicle we had (12 seater minivan), but usually found parking just outside with no problem.

We found all facilities clean and tidy, well maintained and good value for money. Close to theme parks (15mins) and shopping (IGA and assorted small shops a few minutes walk away and Harbourtown also a short drive away), beach short walk away with plenty of playgrounds. Management went above and beyond the call of duty and helped arrange for left behind items (drawsheets from kids beds) to be brought back by another NZ family who were guests and agreed to return them to us.

All in all, clean, tidy, friendly, value for money and highly recommended as great accommodation for families - we would not hesitate to stay again. The Kitchen family.

Room Tip: The rooms on the ends of the "U" shaped accommodation are probably quieter than the sides...

Pelican cove was a well priced accomodation in a great location far enough away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to be only a short trip to basically anything a family trip requires (shopping for wife and theme parks for kids).found the apartment to be very clean and kids loved the pool area .underground secure parking was a bonus and complex had a very relaxed vibe about it.If your looking for a stay with all the bells and whistles don't stay here but if you want well priced clean and relaxed accomodation this is your place.

Our first family holiday in 7 years was no disappointment thanks to the staff and facilities at Pelican Cove Apartments. The location was blissfully peaceful, the Apartment was extremely comfortable and well appointed. The complex was beautiful with enough to keep two very active boys and their parents very busy! A lovely little shopping centre just a few minutes walk away with an awesome coffee shop! A great little walking path along the Broadwater revealed playgrounds and a fish n chip shop within 1km. We truly wish we could have stayed and relaxed for a LOT longer! We've already booked our next stay in December!!

Very friendly and organised place. Not too big or high rise but with great facilities - two pools, small tennis court, views of the lagoon, free library etc, all very well maintained. The apartment was superb - spacious, clean, very well equipped, great views from all the windows, this was a brilliant place for our family to stay while visiting the Theme parks. Only one block from the beach and very close to IGA supermarket for all your shopping. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: they are all good
