we stayed in hill top earth hut immersed in the forest, it owns a stunning tree house architecture and it seems that we were in the africa jungle. The eye catching view from hut, of which no one see us as we are immersed in the tree top. I love Naked as it is close to bamboo hiking route and i m able to feel and touch the bamboo physically. We have a very easy 1.5h taxi ride to Hangzhou after a night stay. It is marvellous to go with kids. I didnt have a chance to pick tea and I would do it next time!

Room Tip: Monkey 2 - Earth Hut Hill Top - we are living in the forest!

Dear Grace N,

Thank you for your review. We love to hear that you felt transported into the African jungle with a stay in one of our forrest Earth Huts. That is just the point! To get outside into nature and lose the stress of city life. Hidden in the woods and connecting with the bamboo is the best way to refresh your senses and "get naked". Tea picking season runs from April until about October, so please do come back for another stay as we'd love to share the experience with you.

Best,
Marco Militzer

My husband and I visited Naked 3rd week of May with another couple, and it was beyond what we could have imagined!!! Fresh air... expansive views of the mountains... great service... really was a great way to "reconnect", spend time with loved ones and play! Firstly, the tree top villa is stunning... the unique decor, the bath tub overlooking the valleys... took my breath away! We all squeeled when we saw the bedrooms. I felt like it came right out of a pinterest board of "places to see before you die." Was really romantic to wake up in a plush white bed, hop in the bathtub and soak in that view.

We also brought food and drink with us and was so nice just to plug in our music, pop open a bottle of wine, cook a meal, turn on the hot tub (yes, there was a hot tub on the balcony!) and be in nature. We also went for walks... found the games room, played soccer, foozeball, cards... naked allowed us to be kids again, and being in nature nurturing our souls! The weather was perfect even though May isn't considered the best time of year ~ but the sun came out and being out in a hot tub on a lightly chilled evening is so delightful. We lay by the pool and there was a great staff from Brunei named Hakim who took such good care of us!

Also want to say the trip there and back is super easy - they gave us fruit for the ride, and wifi so we could ease back into city life.

I would love to go back again. Was unforgettable and I highly recommend it for families, couples, corporate getaways... or even if you need a solo getaway.

Thank you NAKED!!!

Dear SophieS885,

What a romantic holiday you had. We love that you see us as a "Pinterest perfect". Such a compliment. At naked our hope for our guests is that they can escape the city, breath fresh air and reconnect with nature - all while having fun. Sounds like you managed all of that! A nighttime jacuzzi with your friends is the ultimate naked luxury too. We're happy to hear you had nice weather and got a chance to meet Hakim. We hope to have you and your husband and friends back someday to get naked again!

Best,
Marco Militzer

I stayed at Naked Stables for a few days with my wife and a few friends. Never knew that a place this mountainous and picturesque existed so close to shanghai. Our treetop villa overlooked the estate and had a sweeping views of the entire valley and adjacent mountain side. It was absolutely stunning.

Another perk about this trip was all the activities that were available to us... from horseback riding to a grass field to play soccer and badminton. It was nice to get active in the fresh air of Moganshan.

Although we were only a small group, this place is ideal for retreats. I could imagine hosting a large event for my company or social club at Naked.

Naked Resorts is one of the finest places you will stay at that will provide peace and nature along with great activities and outstanding food and service. Excellence in all it does. A van picked us up in Shanghai and it was a so inexpensive we couldn't believe it, for a 2.5 hour ride. It was a great ride out into the country. All of a sudden you enter the bamboo forest and a tiny little town...no crowded resort. This is only a destination for the resort so you won't see throngs of people. You will be greeted in the lobby with a drink the second you walk in. A golf cart will take you to your room...either a hut (by no means rustic!) or an amazing villa...tucked in the hillsides of a bamboo forest. Breathtaking. We were tired from travelling and decided to start off with a spa treatment. I have been to a lot of fine spas in California, New York, etc. and this one tops it all. The place is beautiful, peaceful, spotless, and astounding. THere were candles lighting the entire hot tub and cool dip pool. A great sauna and steam bath started us off. In the treatment room they started us off with a foot bath and massage. Never had anything like it...you have to try it to believe it. Then a body scrub with rose products, a full body massage that was more than the stated 50 minutes, and a facial...all for around $125 U.S. We were paralyzed when we left there we were so relaxed. The activities director Chris was great and helped us plan the activities for our stay. So sweet, patient and knowledgeable...great staff here. The restaurants too...everyone smiling and helpful...a welcome change from the usual. Start your day with yoga in the teahouse, then a beautiful easy hike to the top of a mountain to see the entire valley, followed by tea picking, and then dinner at the amazing retaurant with a Michelin chef developed menu. If that isn't enough, come back to your room nestled in the mountains with a view that is indescribable. Oh, did I mention we had a hot tub on our balcony? The bike ride around the lake will take your breath away. The stables have gorgeous well groomed horses if you are into that, and even archery, which we found more difficult than we thought. The breakfasts are delish - there wasn't one dish we didn't love. From custom omelettes to traditional Chinese food. I don't generally like buffets but this is no chow down buffet. Unbelievably prepared food that surprised us with the flavor profiles and quality. No steam table mush. The casual dining place we ate at had great food too. There are several pools that are each beautiful. I know this is a long review but I haven't even begun to describe this place. Don't miss this if you are anywhere near it....I will remember this as one of the highlights of my trip! Do not miss the great Michelin restaurant....it astounds.

Room Tip: The huts are great for a couple...all glass round front windows but if you want a larger place with...

Dear Carol,

Thank you so much for the glowing review. Sounds like you really took advantage of all that our resort has to offer. You were so active by day with your yoga and hiking and biking, you must have needed a massage and a soak in the evening! Our staff, from Chris in Activities, to the ayis who you picked tea with, all mentioned how much fun it was to have you and your daughter around. We hope to have you back again some time to enjoy another meal at Kikaboni!

Where to begin? When I think of naked stables, I think of the kind smiles of the service, the fun of the activities like archery and horseback riding, and most of all the BEAUTY - the misty tops of the tea bush lined mountains, the gorgeous spa and heated pools, the quiet solitude of a true "Getaway" hidden 2.5 hrs outside of bustling Shanghai. It's too overwhelming to describe in words - you just have to visit to see!

Helpful staff, DELICIOUS food at the breakfast and lunch buffets, and elegant ambiance of Kikaboni restaurant on the lake. We were lucky enough to stay in Egret 1, the floating 2-bedroom suites above the pines with a view of the canyon, the far away ridges of the pine and bamboo forests, the Pool Bar, and the scenic splendor that is the property.

It was easy to be there - No external noise of freeways/airplanes passing by, no loud tourists - it was at 40% capacity when we arrived, and approaching 100% capacity when we left - only difference was that it took longer for the carts to come when called (6-7 vs. 2-3 mins - still not bad); Very few bugs, beautiful lighting, easy transport (by golf-cart), great showers/water pressure/heat, and the hot tub on the balcony was the icing on the cake (as well as the bathtubs that face the mountains) - and the pools never close! My mom and I really enjoyed the spa treatment, the massage, foot soak, facial and the sauna/steam room - such beautiful decor in there, I couldn't stop taking photos!

I felt like a nervous girl on her first date the whole time - anticipation, attraction, intrigue, excitement... every moment was more delightful than the next, from bike riding around the nearby lake to petting the beautiful horses (one was just born after we left, fittingly named "April!").

The hike was the perfect balance of challenging and relaxing, with sprawling views of the bamboo forest and parts of the stables. In the mornings (except Wed.) Yoga was a free treat, and if we had more time, we would have done painting, more tea-picking, and played some of the games (great selection!) in the activities office. The only thing about the bike ride - Route C around the lake is not as easy as it sounds! Have the send you with a guide, or print a detailed map to avoid confusion. You MUST do the tea picking if you can - the week we did it was the first harvest of the season - we got lucky! Last week of March/first of April is prime-time - try to plan your visit accordingly!

Chris at the Activities desk, Justin at the front desk, and Lan at the spa, and the entire staff (mnagers and bartenders) at Kikaboni were exceptional with their service, kindness and generous energy - made us feel like old friends, very much at home.

I am already planning a trip to return! I miss it soooo much already!

Love from California,
Lauren S.

Just had a great weekend away from Shanghai at Naked Retreats. The place was beautiful, lived up to all expectations - also helped by great weather. We booked a package, but weren't completely aware of what it entailed, so unfortunately missed out on the spa which was overbooked, but did go horseriding. Had a fantastic meal at their gourmet restaurant Kikaboni. Very expensive, but certainly worth it. Probably the best meal we have had in Shanghai. All in all a great stay - will certainly try and get back there.

Room Tip: we really enjoyed the Earth Hut

I have been working in Shanghai for the last 2 years; and being able to escape the hustle and bustle of city life to the tranquility of Naked Stables Private Reserve and spend 3 nights and 4 days, was a total bliss.

The pick up service in the Shanghai office was way ahead of time (half an hour before departure time), although we know it would take around 3 hours to get to the resort, it would have been a nice touch if the driver could just tell us the estimate time of arrival and the weather forecast, however he drove the car perfectly and the temperature in the van was perfect too.

The check-in was quick and efficient, although we had to wait for our Hut for over two hours. We didn't mind as we went up to the restaurant and had our lunch. The hut was beautifully located in the middle of the tranquil valley. It was very spacious and very clean. Do not expect the amenities to be anything like the city hotels, as it is quite bare minimum (Naked!!). Although you will not miss any of the "missed" items. The bed is very comfortable and the view is just amazing to wake up to. It had a 180 degree view of the outdoors, as half of the hut is completely glassed. Although we went in the month of February, the room was surprisingly warm, infact it was a bit too hot, and had to slightly open the window to draw in cold air to cool the room. For some reason the temp. control did not adjust properly.

Breakfast was good and had everything to satisfy Chinese, Asian and Westerners alike. The service was quick with not too much fuss. The meal in the Pool Bar was not as good. We ordered pasta two times, and both the time was quite bland and tasteless, although Pizza was quite tasty. The service team was quite attentive, however there was a gentleman who was on his laptop right at the first table quite often, not sure who he was, maybe a supervisor, did not look too professional for a high end pricey resort.

The horse riding was an amazing experience. Henry was a great teacher, and he was very happy to satisfy his customers. However, the staff in the Activity Center could be more friendly and enthusiastic.

The happy hour in the club bar was nice and the service was good.

All in all it was an amazing property and a great hideaway. I would definitely recommend this place although they have couple of niggling service issues.

Room Tip: If you reserve the Huts, I would recommend you reserve the Earth Hut rather than the Hilltop Earth H...
