We had really wanted to stay at Hotel Gardesana as it is gorgeous, had good reviews and we wanted a hotel overlooking the lake. However, after booking with Hotel Gardesana, we had a change of plans and decided to visit a different part of Lake Garda. Unfortunately, because the confirmation email from booking.com was routed to our junk mailbox (remember to check your junk mailbox!), we inadvertently failed to cancel the booking. Some time after getting back from Italy, we received a long distance call from Hotel Gardesana asking why we had not stayed with them and if we had faced any problems with cancelling the booking. We were very impressed as they were not obliged to contact us at all! Not only that, they accepted our reasons for our no-show and agreed to waive the penalty fee out of goodwill. Great service that went an extra mile for a customer!

The beauty and setting of this little jewel is only rivaled by the incredible graciousness of the host/owner Dr. Mirko Lorenzini and his staff. There is no doubt in my mind that Torri del Benaco is the best spot on Garda ( and I have seen them all) and the Hotel Gardesana is the absolute best place to stay. Thanks again for a meeorable visit-see you again soon.

The Lorenzini family run this hotel on the eastern shores of Lake Garda far from the busy crowds of Gardaland travelers. Situated on the lake close to the ferry, shopping and the highway for exploring. A visit to Monte Baldo to the north is only a 15 minute drive and in less than an hour you can visit the wine roads of Valpolicella. A ferry ride across the lake is really fun, especially when it is a visit to the Vittoriale in Gardone Riviera. Also, there are two restaurants. One on the shore overlooking the lake and the one upstairs facing the courtyard that serves more upscale dining. Before dinner or lunch, relax outside in the courtyard and have Mario make their special Aperol Spritz! Parking for check-in could be tricky! Get help.

Room Tip: Balcony overlooking the lake.

We have traveled a fair amount in Europe (we have visited at least six countries). I have never taken the time to write a review of a hotel or restaurant before this.
We went to Lake Garda as a side trip from Venice without knowing much about the area.
The entire area is fantastic! It is difficult to believe that an area like this still exists.
The Hotel Gardesana is equally fantastic. The service is wonderful and gracious. The hotel and grounds are immaculate. The scenery is beyond compare. The hotel restaurant is very good.
We truly did not want to leave.
We were there very early in the season (April 6 through April 8) we had outstanding weather and no crowds.
