“Picturesque views, Excellent staff & service, Great location!”

We came from Australia and had the pleasure of staying at this lovely hotel for 3 days for a family wedding. The staff were inviting, accommodating and attentive - nothing was too much trouble! Special mention to Clara and Massimo who went out of their way to make sure the entire wedding party and guests were happy. Our room was well presented and had a beautiful view of the Lake.
We enjoyed our daily Buffett Breakfast on the balcony overlooking some amazing views. No complaints about the choice and quality of food. A memorable stay for all the right reasons- highly recommend!

This was our second stay - it was every bit as good as the first. We had a room overlooking the lake, sail boats, castle and mountains. We had breakfast, each morning, on the balcony. The food was just fine, as was the service. There are numerous restaurants within a few yards and there are plenty of shops - also close by. With the Euro being so strong against the dollar, I do feel that it is overpriced. There is a 15 Euro charge, per day, for any small pets. We would definitely return - hopefully when the dollar strengthens.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the lake.

Spent a fantastic four days at the hotel for a family wedding. The care and attention of the hotel staff was wonderful, a warm welcome each morning, lovely clean and tidy rooms, attentive service, great food and a wonderful location. My room was on the first floor, very spacious with views over the small harbour, lovely clean linen and fresh towels each day. Breakfast on the balcony over looking the harbour was one of life's little pleasures! Thank you to all at the Gardesana for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: The Italians start their day early, market stalls set up from about 6am upper floor rooms may be qui...

Stayed for 4 nights with our 11 month old son for a wedding. Location superb with lovely views of the lake and the mountains. A little overpriced for the facilities available, but the staff, location, food and cleanliness of the hotel could not be faulted. They looked after the needs of us and friends with small children brilliantly and we had good sized travel cots in the rooms. They do charge for the cots but we managed to get them for free in the end after some discussion. Free Wifi available and breakfast on the balcony each morning overlooking the harbour, castle and market stalls was a great start to each day!

Room Tip: we had room 403, it had a balcony but looked onto next door, however you can see the lake and into t...

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014

Stayed here for 3 nights with a room with a balcony and a view of the lake, the view over the marina and lake were really good.

The room was of a decent size, but wasn't equipped enough for the price we were paying. We accept the price was for a room with a great view.

Again like other Italian stays there was no fridge, water or coffee/tea making facilities, for a room where your paying £130+ a night for a room with a view it shouldn't be about the view totally.

The bathroom was well equipped and had a good shower over the bath.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful, they sorted transport out and helped where we asked for directions etc, apart from out on their café, (I will try to review separately).

Breakfast was decent enough, although the hot option didn't look great, undercooked bacon, eggs were overcooked. If you like your coffee strong then the Americano was rocket fuel. Although again I think the hotel was geared up for the vastly great German cliental which like the whole area was geared up to.

The other issue of the room though was heating was on all the time at night, ok it was April, but till 17/18 at night, with no working aircon too, we had to have the doors/windows open which didn't help our sleep as you could hear what was going on down below at 2/3 in the morning and then earlier in the morning when deliveries were occurring.

Again if you want a hotel with decent staff and a view then go here, if you want a bit more from your room, I wouldn't go for this.

If you can get a room with lake view and no balcony, then go for this as the balcony's are not big and just about accommodate 2 people sitting at a push. Save some cash on the view.

I would come back here, but go for a lesser room for sure.

Also get here by car, as a nightmare to get to by boat. Buses are about once an hour. I believe the hotel have their own private car park away from the hotel and they will pick you up via golf buggy as area is pedestrian only.

Room Tip: Try get a room with a lake view and no balcony to save some cash

I was with a group of 45 englis bell ringers who used this hotel for four nights as a base for touring the Rivoli, carnale and Valpolicello regions of Italy. We were welcomed by the Owners' son who is also the Hotel manager and allocated good rooms, mostly with views of the lake but mine was at the back of the hotel with a view of another building! The room was spacious, =well furnished and very clean. There was free wifi internet but no tea or coffee making facilities. The food was excellent apart from luke warm bacon and eggs as part of the English breakfast. The continental breakfast items were excellent. I was surprised that no tap water was available to drink and that bottled water was charged at three euros per bottle. The staff were all friendly, efficient and accomodating

Top marks all round!
The hotel staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, our room was spotless and the beds were ever so comfortable (spoken as someone who rarely sleeps well in hotel rooms).
The building itself is located right on the harbour, with a delightful view if you get a room on that side.

The restaurant of the same name claims a list of high profile clientele which would come as no surprise, it was the best meal we had all week. Hotel guests were offered a set menu (maybe just an offseason thing) or 15% off the a la carte bill.

By far the best 3-star I've stayed in (and better than many higher starred hotels I've stayed in too).

The only fault I could think of was that perhaps the rooms weren't as quiet as some would like, sound travelled from the room above occasionally.
