Ed and Rita are incredibly friendly and made us very welcome in the spacious, well appointed gite and the children spent hours in the pool. We enjoyed getting to know the area and visiting local events suggested by Rita and aided greatly by Ed's knowledge. Enjoyed the local wines especially from the local wine producer! Varied terrain and quiet roads for cycling to Saumur and surrounding area. Thank you so much for making it such a lovely holiday.
Fantastic gite with welcoming, knowledgeable owners. A perfect base from which to explore the Anjou region.
If you are planning a trip to the loire then this is most definitely the place to stay. There is everything we needed and more, there was a lovely very generous welcoming pack waiting for us including a bottle of local wine. The setting was really lovely and the Gite was the best we have ever stayed in very clean and comfortable with a lovely swimming pool The owners ' Ed and Rita could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and Ed's knowledge of the Loire is second to none. Lots of Chateau's within an easy drive, lots of restaurants and bars within a short drive away. I will definitely be returning and would have no qualms about recommending Le Tilleul to my friends and family
We wanted to see more of France during 2 weeks, and booked a series of Hotel stays in different areas. To see the Chateaux of the Loire region, we booked the Barn for a week. If only we had just booked the Barn for a whole fortnight. Ed and Rita welcomed us with open arms, although we arrived early, They had provided a very useful welcome pack., and could not have been more accommodating during or stay. The very spaceous accommodation and access to the heated pool, ( Ed maintains temp. at 26-28 Degrees ) was so peacefull and in such a tranquil setting, that we saw a lot less Chateaux than we had planned to, and spent far too much time just relaxing by the pool and enjoying fresh cherries from the garden. There are many beautiful Chateaux and Priories within easy reach, and several local villages offering bars and restaurants, but we preferred to spend most of our time at the Barn, self catering and enjoying the occasional cycle ride ( Bikes courtesy of Ed and Rita ). If you want to know mor about the area, Ed is quite an authority on Chateau history etc. Ed and Rita also invited us to share a Bar-be-que with them one evening, but we could not hear them calling to us, as we were watching the Cup Final on the television which has Sky and all English programmes. We cannot recommend the Barn more highly, and wish Ed and Rita every success with their business, and look forward very much to re-booking in the future, if they will have us.
