We recently stayed at culdaff manor july 16th till the 30th.
We had a great time in culdaff, the house is in a great location. Beautiful views from the back bedrooms. The house is a five minute walk from the shops and local pubs, take away and restaurant. Culdaff beach is a 15 mins stroll, as is Bunagee harbour.
The house is spacious, and has 4 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, an ensuite and a toliet downstairs.
The facilites are needing an upgrade, the oven wasnt working properly and took ages to cook anything. We were a party 9, 5 adults and 4 kids. So we did depend on cooking big meals, although the hobs were fine.
The washing machine is faulty, it took a few washes to get the clothes to look clean. Which was frustrating as we had 4 kids under aged 4 with us.
There was no where to hang your clothes outside, no washing line. Only a small clothes dryer, which barely hung much, especially with a party of 9.
The kettle needs replaced as it was badly damaged with limscale, bits would float about in your tea.
The shower upstairs was leaking, it came right through the ceiling into the livingroom, near the lights. Which brought us down to one shower and a bath. Everyone using the ensuite.
There are no curtains in some of the bedrooms, just in case anyone has kids, i recommend bringing blackout window covers. The sun was belting through from about 5am, especially the family room,With white blinds.
Also be aware the house is very noisy, it is laminated throughout the house, you can here everything from everyroom. Again a little frustrating when your putting the kids down to sleep.
There are no cupboards in any of the rooms, just a set of drawers, so you have no where to hang your clothes.
There is also no stair gate, i recommend bringing your own if you have kids because the stairs are quite steep.
We also arrived to find the bin outside half full, which turned out to be a nightmare with having so many ppl staying there and 3 of kids in nappies, and you can only recycle glass and tins. The bin filled up so quick, and wasnt taken away till the following week. So we had bin bags outside full of rubbish which were burst open by stray cats and birds ,so we then had to pay and take it away ourselfs at €25.
Overall we had a great time, due to location and spacious house, with good size secure garden. However i feel we paid a lot of money for really basic facilities that needed an upgrade.
I had my 3 and 4 -year old grandsons as wel as my daughter and son in law staying in the house with me.
The facilities were excellent : enclosed garden to rear of house ; large ,bright kitchen /dining room with comfortable seating;spacious rooms and downstairs loo as well as further bathroom and en suite bathroom.
There was plenty of room in the houe for us all and everything was clean and well presented.
The location was perfect for exploring other parts of Donegal but the beach nearby an McGrory's bar and restaurant were excellent and much frequented.
Thank you for a super holiday. We would certainly book the house in future.
