“Hotel fine; location could be an issue”
Reviewed 26 October 2012

Rather dated decor and furnishings and not the biggest room but clean, hot water, hairdryer, working aircon, friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was one of the better breakasts of my stay in this part of the world and dinner in the hotel was fine. The location of the hotel could, however, be an issue if you don't have transport as it's quite a long walk to sights like the Citadel.

As others pointed out, the location is not ideal, but the overall experience makes up for that. Friendly, clean, safe. English, Kurdish and Arabic spoken. Internet works well and noise isolation works quite well even when overlooking the main road.

Don't expect 5-star amenities, but it will do nicely for a few nights.

Get a map or directions in Arabic as well as Kurdish, as not all drivers know both languages and few seem to know the hotel.

While in the area, do try the German beer house / restaurant. Great meals, cold drinks and also a good place to stock up on booze if you need to.

If anyone needs advice on how to travel here from Turkey, feel free to message me.

Me and my family ( three ) stayed here for 6 nights. We had a triple room.
First of all I start with the negative points:
- The location is not the best. Although there is Naza mall nearby and some restaurants and fastfoods as Saj al reef or Texas Chicken, this hotel is far from the city center and city life.
We weren't so lucky at the time of our stay as there was a road construction in progress, so the straight route to the center was blocked.
- The breakfast was good but it could be better. There wasn't much variation in the choices. But we also have to consider the price as it seemed a rather fair hotel. The breakfast included: Lentil soup (very delicious), 3 kinds of cheese, two kinds of butter, cream, two kinds of omlet, cucumber, tomato, french fries, black olive, buiscuits, wafer, tea, coffee, milk powder, nescafe & orange juice. There was also samoon bread and a kind of youghurt which is a kurdish traditional (goat's youghurt). My mother, as she is a Persian kurd, loved it a lot and it was reminiscent of her chilhoodness for her.
- Very helpful staff, one of them knew Iranian and help us a lot. Very helpful and kind.
- Free tea was available in the lobby. Also coffee and nescafe.
- There was a bar but the prices were higher than the ones in Ainkawa.
- In every floor, there was two wireless routers. The wireless signal was good but the speed wasn't excellent. There was a computer in the lobby which you could use internet on it.
- Clean bathrooms. Towels were changed every day and shampoos, soaps, dental kit, shaving kit and sewing kit was provided in the rooms.
- There was a satellite tv in the rooms. In our first room it worked very good, but at the second one lots of channels were unavailable.
- Air conditioner, ACs, warm and cold water all very good. Also there was a hairdryer.
we paid 85 dollars per night, and I guess that was a good price.

The hotels location is good its on one of the main roads of Erbil, its located on the Erbil-Kirkuk road, and has a big supermarket next to it called NazaMall and also a few good restaurants like Saj al Reef and Texas Chicken.

The rooms are spacious and the people are very helpful. the bar is not that fancy but its good enough and not that expensive.

Room Tip: try to take a room that over looks the main road and not the side road.

Very friendly staff, who speak good English, we have 2 kids 2yr and 4yr and they love the kids and dont mind them playing in reception. Clean rooms and bathrooms. A/C in the rooms. The rooms are cleaned everyday with fresh towels. There is a small fridge in the room with water, juice etc all very cheap if you do consume them, but no tea making facilites. Tea and coffee is free in the reception area. Breakfast is great. Fresh salad, different cheeses, 3 types of eggs, lentil soup, honey, jam, cream and lovely fresh iraqi samoon bread. Juice, water, tea and coffee all buffet style. We have a double room plus a mattress for my 4yr old (i bought my travel cot for the 2yr) and we are paying $70 a night including breakfast for all 4 of us. Free Wifi.Next door is a lovely Saj restaruarnt, and texas chicken and another fast food outlet. Taxis are always outside the hotel. We pay around 5000ID to get to Family mall and a little less to Majidi Mall. All the staff have been great nothing has been to much trouble for them and we would most certainly come back here again. We are a European family and felt 100% safe here in Erbil.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room on the front and i was worried it would be noisy, I was wrong no noise.

Myself and a workmate stayed here for four weeks. The rooms were spotless, the shower was great, staff really friendly and good English speakers. The restaurant served a good choice of food and had plenty of beers in stock. Breakfast was a good buffet and bottled water was available at all times.
