“Honeymooned here - great stay!”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

We loved our stay here - Kipp, Kai, and Miguel were all incredibly welcoming, friendly, and informative. We especially liked this place because it was small and private - the perfect place to go if you want to avoid the more touristy locations in the area and appreciate personalized day-trip recommendations. Kipp and Kai provided us a lot of information about out-of-the way places to go or when to go to avoid the crowds. Miguel cooked us fresh food eat day and every meal was incredible. This place felt more like a bed and breakfast because of how friendly the staff and other guests were. The price was great - very affordable - and we ate and drank mostly on site. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes to be taken care of and something unique. I would give it more stars of I could

My husband And I enjoyed every moment we spent at Garden of Eden: from the welcoming perfume of island flowers to the amazing sunrise And sunset views at the decks or the room balcony. The stuff is amazing, fun and very hepful. The chef is very creative And location is perfect to visit all the surrounding islands either by water taxi or kayak.
Thank You guys for the Birthday cake!

My husband and I spent 7 wonderful days at the Garden of Eden. The owner, Kipp, is a great host, organising day trips and making reservations for us. This B&B is small and intimate, a great place to get away from it all. We enjoyed Miguel's creative Caribbean style of cooking and Sam's bartending skill (she makes a mean infidel!). Zeus the resident security officer kept us safe. We would go back.

We stayed at Garden of Eden for three days in January of 2014. We found the accommodations charming and comfortable. Our room was surprisingly airy and comfortably cool, and the balcony in the back offered a great chance to watch birds and gaze at the ocean. The food was absolutely outstanding. Chef Miguel combined fresh local ingredients in creative ways. Additionally, the customer service was excellent. Kipp and the volunteers were always helpful and we enjoyed getting a chance to know them. As enjoyable as it is to hang around the pool in a hammock with a drink, it is also an good base to explore other beaches and activities. We will definitely try to stay there again.

My husband and I spent a few days here back in July 2013. Sorry for the delay in posting a review!

For the most part, we really enjoyed our stay- the property is absolutely beautiful, Kipp and Zeus are very welcoming, and this is a great place to spend a few days kicking back and relaxing. I loved looking for the poison frogs, sitting by the pool with a drink of the day, and just relaxing. We took the kayaks out a couple of days and did some snorkeling right off the back dock. Off the back dock, we saw tons of fish, lots of star fish, an anenome, and a barracuda.

There were, however, a few things that detracted from our stay. First, we booked the suite, as this was our first stop on our honeymoon. We were a bit disappointed with the room. While the suite is more secluded than the other rooms, it is seriously lacking in personality. While the other rooms have beautiful, luxurious looking high-post beds, the suite has two very basic double beds. So- yes, it's bigger, but it isn't exactly overflowing with romantic ambiance. Additionally, the wifi connection didn't work down in our suite. While we got full reception on Garden of Eden's private wifi, we couldn't pick up a signal at all for the guest network. I realize that wifi shouldn't be a highlight of one's trip to Panamanian paradise, but clearly the capacity was there, it just wasn't working. This has probably been fixed since we were there, but if it's important to you, you may want to check.

Also, if you haven't picked this up from other reviews, you should be aware that although this is a secluded spot, it isn't entirely "private"- meaning, you will be constantly sharing space/meals/etc with the other guests, Kipp, and the staff. We enjoyed hanging out with the folks at GoE, but if you go into this thinking that you will have a lot of privacy to just hang out alone b/c this is a secluded location, you might be a little surprised.

Also- fyi- there are no safes in the rooms. While we were ok with this, I mention it because I know some people find this a necessity. Kipp, however, will store things in his safe if you want.

So- in sum- we really enjoyed our stay, would recommend it to others, and would go back if we ever end up in Bocas again.

We took the "Rainforest Experience", which meant that we had a fully-equipped two bedroom house completely surrounded by rainforest and utterly isolated from any other human beings entirely to ourselves! A fifty yard walk down to the little dock among the mangroves allowed us to hop into sea kayaks and paddle ourselves across the bay (say, 15 minutes) to the main Garden of Eden resort where we were welcome any time for breakfast, dinner or just to chill out.

Actual, hermits that we are, we only paddled over for one breakfast and for Christmas dinner, otherwise we self-catered the whole four days. When I say fully-equipped, I mean it. There's even a washing machine, no mean feat given that the whole house runs on solar panels and filtered rainwater!

If you like to get away from it all, you'll find it hard to get further away than this! But at the same time, Kipp (the owner) can organise any of the various excursions available in Bocas del Toro - you just need to head over to the "main" resort. I say "main" but Garden of Eden is tiny itself, there must be only 3 or 4 rooms. Don't expect slick service from manicured tourist industry staff with lil' name badges, this is just laid-back and friendly helpfulness from Kipp and his small crew.

My wife and I stayed at Garden of Eden for 4 nights after Christmas and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Their boat driver, Chingo, waited for us for over an hour when our flight was delayed, is a very nice local guy, and speaks English which isn't all that common among the water taxi drivers it seems. Kipp, the owner, is very friendly and helpful. He kept on top of the weather forecast and helped us plan our days accordingly. He was also hugely helpful when the airline had lost my wife's bag on the way in, calling the airline & airport for us several times to track it down. We decided to eat dinner at Garden of Eden every night, and one lunch as well. We were very pleased with the food... Their Chef Miguel is great... It's probably once of the best dining options in the region, and it's so well priced. We loved the complimentary breakfast, which is a first for me since I usually want bacon and eggs for breakfast on vacation, but given the choice after trying their granola, yogurt, fresh bread and fruit I wouldn't have changed a thing. The location is ideal for exploring Red Frog and the Zapatillas, and it's great that they have two single and two double kayaks available to borrow... We kayaked to Red Frog twice and we loved being able to come and go as we pleased, while getting a workout too. The bugs are no worse here than other places outside of town, and between the non-toxic mosquito coils they provide and sleeping with your doors closed and ceiling fan on, we never got bit in our rooms. They also sell the best repellent, pickled parrot, for half what you pay in bocas town. The pool is great for days when it's a mix of rain & sun - you can work on your tan in or by the pool when the sun is out, and retreat to the covered areas or your room when it rains. If there was one thing I would change it would be the wifi coverage. It works fine by the dining area & hammocks (even for using skype) but not in the rooms, and since the rooms have such a nice view it would be great to be able to use the wifi from within the rooms. Just a minor complaint though, and helped us get more reading done instead.

This was our first time in Panama and we will definitely be back, and when we do, we will definitely stay at Garden of Eden again!

Room Tip: We loved our poolside room, the one furthest from the house, but it seems the poolside room closest...
