Malapascau hasn't got the cheapest accomodation in the philippines and having looked at almost every option on malapascau i'd say the Legend Resort shared bathroom rooms are the best value. The rooms are small but the bed is comfortable and has cable TV with a movie channel, you also get access to the large swimming pool and loungers. We tried a couple of nights with fan only but the room became very hot as there was no outside breeze, so the extra few dollars for AC was well worth it (rooms 104 and 105 have windows that face the ocean so may be better). Bathrooms are brand new and cleaned every day, there were 4 toilets and 5 showers, no issues getting access when needed.

Breakfast is quite good, choice of eggs and bacon, omelette or cornflakes served with juice and tea or coffee and a slice of mango or banana.

The budget rooms are right above the seapark dive centre, who we dived with, they were great and it was so handy to just have to walk down a flight of stairs to be ready to dive - especially with the 4am start for the thresher sharks!

When it's time to head to the mainland it's possible to get one of the private hotel boats on bounty beach (just outside the hotel) to take you for 100 pesos, if they have other guests. Saves the 10 walk to logon beach.

Room Tip: Budget rooms 104 and 105 have ocean facing windows

We took a weekend trip to this resort with 6 other families and had a great time. This resort is along the main stretch of places to stay on the island, so it's very easy to walk to other spots for happy hour, or dinner. The rooms all have balconies that surround and overlook a giant resort swimming pool. The pool has a nice swim up tiki bar and shade for cover if you need a break from the sun. There's also a big baby pool, and nice open grassy areas for the kids to run around. The beach out front is beautiful white sand. Be careful not to step on any Sea Urchins in the shallow beach waters. Our 5 y.o. found that out the hard way, and they recommended that I pee in a cup, and pour it over the sting to clean it. The restaurant has decent pizza and plenty of cold drinks to keep you going, and it's reasonably priced. The waters around this island are unbelievably clear. Snorkel, Scuba, boat, friends, family, sunshine, cold beer...It does not get much better! We would stay here again if we go back to Malapascua.

The website, the folders, the video's on the ferry... they are perfect... But in reality the resort is not so luxurious...
The food, unfortunately is really not good there. The pizza was recommended by someone, but they were out of dough. (I suppose this is what you get on an island :-))
Staff should learn to lift up their feet while walking.. It comes across as if they were not really happy about working there.

Rooms are very big and airconditioned. But we prefer to have a fan in stead of airconditioning. A fan was not in the room. A pitty, because after a few nights of sleeping in the airconditioned room I had a big cold...

The hotel is located very central on the beach.
And, best thing of this hotel: It works together with Sea Quest Dive Center. The best diving school on the island if you ask us..!

Although we were a little disappointed about the resort itself we had an amazing holiday on Malapascua. Such - a - beautifull island......!!!!!!

Great place to stay! Friendly and always smiling people, cosy and spacious rooms, gorgeous pool, delicious food, prompt services... We spent there a few days in August 2013, and this place surely had contributed to overall incredible impression of the Philippines...

Malapascua Legend Watersports and Resort is a great place for a 6D5N stay for divers. It amenities, though in need of upgrading, is sufficient enough for any diver.
First the bad things, well the room are just about adequately furnished, the showers are weakly powered and there are the occasional power outages.
Well, I didn't expect much and wasn't disappointed. The hotels and resorts on this island have to be self sufficient and everything else have to be imported from the main island of Cebu.
The good thing, the attentive staff, once you get to know them. Their friendliness and charm are in the world of their own. They come from the neighboring villages in the island and they can offer you gems of information on where to go to see and eat.
Legends is the only resort with a swimming pool, so it is a plus in my books. After each dive, the pool is a great place to soak, refresh and chill out with a ice cold drink, while waiting for our next dives.
If you are looking for 5 stars resorts like those on islands with full infrastructure of electric power, water supply, entertainment etc ... well Legends, and most of all other resorts on this island is not for you.
If you want affordable, friendly, down to earth resort that can meet your basic needs, and some, this is the place to park yourself while you focus on your real purpose on this island, scuba diving in the rich eco systems of Malapascua Island and the Visayan Sea.

Room Tip: Try their homemade pizza. The thin crust and generous toppings is a lovely break from a rice meal.

So enjoyed our week at this resort and will definitely go back. Stayed in the standard bungalow rooms (there are 3) with aircon and breakfast.

It was clean, staff were friendly and helpful, the location is fantastic, breakfast (american) was delicious and the pool was amazing.

We spent many lazy hours enjoying the turquoise waters and white beach and the beautiful pool as well as a snorkeling trip booked through the hotel for a competitive rate. Even had a massage in our own airconditioned room from the ladies who sit near the entrance of the hotel for only P300 each.

Malapascua legend is living up to it's name!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Malapascua Island is situated two and a half hours away by car and four hours away by bus from the city of Cebu. A barangay of the town of Daanbantayan, Malapascua Island takes pride in its world class diving spots and pristine white sand beaches. It is widely referred by locals as the "Boracay of Cebu." As a diving destination, Malapascua Island has become known for its beautiful coral gardens and excellent local dive spots, as well as further out sites like Gato Island, Monad Shoal, and Kemod Shoal. Monad Shoal is an underwater plateau where thresher sharks and manta rays can be seen on a regular basis. The town's name is derived from two Spanish words, "mal" and "pascua", which translated in English means, "bad" and "Easter" or bad Christmas. According to locals, the Spaniards named the island that way after they arrived there on a stormy Christmas. Malapascua Island is a promise of a great dive and a relaxing beach experience, making it a popular travel destination for local and foreign tourists alike. ... more   less
