Our 9th golfing trip to Almenara, so we feel able to write an objective review. The three courses are always challenging and the scenery is beautiful, but -
We encountered several problems this year which will make us carefully consider whether we will return: -
For the 1st time ever, no water is supplied with the buggies(20 cents down the road). As a result of this and no water for sale in the pro shop, you have to queue upstairs in the Clubhouse restaurant where service can be slow.
On our 1st (2pm tee off) day our buggy ran out of power on the 18th hole - no apology from the staff! On subsequent days, teeing off at 8am we played 18 holes and the buggies still had almost half power, so our buggy had obviously been used in the morning and not been re-charged.
Bunkers are very very poor, almost no sand, and what there is is like wet cement.
On our second day as we teed off on the 2nd hole we were called back to the Clubhouse and directed to another course as there was a shotgun start on our 1st course(which we were directed to by the pro shop and the caddy master!) - we have never, ever experienced anything like this - how far in advance did they know about this group booking, but chose to ignore it on the day??????
Playing 1st each morning we were amazed at how many pitch marks on greens had not been repaired by their makers or ground staff.
We have had some great times in the past here, but these problems need fixing!
