“Good price quality”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 December 2012

Not pretentious but very good price/quality.
For less than 100 €/night breakfast included, nice and spacious room with view on the port of Sotogrande.
Very clean.
Nice breakfast.
Very kind service.
No restaurant for dinner but many restaurants very close.

I was happily surprised with Club Maritimo. Located in Sotogrande in an upscale, modern marina, it is right by a waterfront street lined with restaurants. Getting there is a bit complicated by car but GPS helps. The hotel itself is modern, offers great view, nice entertainment room and lounge as well as a resto-bar. The room is modern, decent size and waking up to the ocean view with marina and Gibraltar rock is worth more than the low price of the rooms. I definitely recommend this over staying in Gibraltar or Marbella.

Room Tip: don't forget breakfast is included !

We stayed along with a couple of friends in one of the suites for 5 nights a couple of weeks ago.
Very comfortable beds, great balcony and sitting room. Great service, lovely breakfast, location peaceful with beautiful view over the marina to Gibraltar.

We've spent 3 days in this hotel al the end of October. The hotel is beautiful. We had a 2-bedroom 2-bathroom suite with kitchen, dining room and terrace and marina views from all the rooms.
We got a discounted price through the SLH website since it was low season.
On the downside the place is far from everything. We had a day trip to Gibraltar but otherwise there is nothing to do around there if you don't have a boat. There's no gym or sauna or anything. If you are unlucky (as we were) and also get bad weather there is really nothing to do in Sotogrande. The Air conditioning was very noisy and we had to turn it off during the night although the suite was a bit cold.
It's the perfect place though for those who just want to do nothing but relax.
The staff was helpful and they spoke English.
Bring your own toiletries (cotton swabs, shower cap, cotton pads).

Room Tip: ask for a 2-bedroom suite with marina view and terrace all rooms are quiet even those at the front...

We were really looking forward to visiting this hotel and enjoying a cocktail
as the sun went down. The place was deserted, the service appalling
and I would think twice before staying here. Sotogrande is beautiful with the
most amazing yachts and properties. The lack of hotel accommodation
has obviously made those that are there complacent.

Really neat hotel situated right on the marina with great views. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and pleasant and all seem to speak good English. They also promptly answered a couple of queries on-line prior to our arrival. Actually they were the exception to the rule in most establishments as the majority seemed to be Spanish speaking with little English so it would be useful to have a working knowledge or at least a phrase book to assist. The bedrooms are a nice size with seating, in room safe, fridge, air-con, hairdryer and limited toiletries. Didn't notice tissues, cotton buds, flannels or make up removal pads, so there is a need to take your own basics. The public rooms have a quirky but pleasing decor. As someone previously mentioned the bedroom carpeting is past it's best and could do with replacing but that is our only critiscism. Breakfast is a plentiful buffet style set up with seating inside and out on a terrace overlooking the harbour. Unfortunately we arrived as 'winter' began so some of the resort was distinctly quiet but with lovely weather and no queues for tables that was a distinct bonus in our book! If you don't get nice weather (as the week prior to us) then there wouldn't be much to do unless you are here for boating or polo. There is a boat service yard immediately adjacent to the hotel but the noise is minimal and only during business hours, otherwise it was extremely quiet and peaceful. Lots of boats were being removed for winter storage so it was really busy but we didn't find it a problem. A few minutes walk away there is a dark sand beach plus a further two similar beaches about a 30/50 min walk from the hotel. The hotel has discounted day membership to two nearby beach clubs for guests (about 10 mins cycle or 35 mins walk) providing a swimming pool (as there is not one at the hotel) sunbeds and umbrellas plus club facilities. There are complimentary hotel bicycles for guest use and loan of beach/pool towels which is a nice touch and makes getting around the area really easy, but beware if you go outside the Sotogrande marina area it can get very hilly! There are several really good places to eat nearby as well as the hotel bar/restaurant (Midas) which serves great tapas and pizzas as well as a full menu. Most outlets like the Yacht Club and Jan Staels Bakery will sell you a large bottle of water to take out which is useful as there doesn't appear to be a supermarket/grocery shop in the resort. Our top recommendations would be Frascati for a fantastic Italian,The Royal Yacht Club and Octogono (Beach Club) but one to definitely miss is the Chinese (Chino) which was both expensive and was unappetising. We booked our transfer car through the hotel both to and from the airport. It cost about 35 Euros each way so would probably be slightly less in a taxi taken from the rank over the border in Spain. The journey took about 20mins each way (bearing in mind it's a quiet time of year) and just required us to walk a few yards across the border. I think it would cost significantly more to go direct from Gibraltar itself due to parking charges and time involved to cross the border.

Room Tip: Not a huge number of rooms, some have balconies, suites have a small terrace I think but facing the...

If you want to see the rock of Gibraltar and Gibraltar, this is your hotel. It is about a 20 minute taxi ride to the border crossing (take a taxi, or else the que is 2(+) hours long whereas for us, it was like a 5-10minute que, maybe). Plus, you can take day trips over to Tanjier, Morocco! Great hotel for families.

Room Tip: Their sweets are plenty of room for a family and cheaper than getting two separate rooms. Two bedroo...
