“We've stayed at multiple Tlaquepaque B&Bs and this one's the best!”
Reviewed 7 June 2011

We make regular trips to Tlaquepaque to visit my wife's family and always go out of our way to stay at the Rosa Morada whenever possible. They have done an amazing job of decorating every room and definitely invested in top-quality mattresses! We sleep very soundly every time! They have kept an authentic Mexican feel/vibe to the place, but have included the creature conforts (e.g. air conditioning) that many travellers crave. They also provide wonderful handmade soaps and higher quality bathroom supplies than the 'average' run of the mill stuff you usually get. The owners both speak fluent English, as well as the staff, and have a wonderful sense of humor. They are often hanging around the kitchen, ensuring that there is good music/food/drink (including some amazing coffee) for all. The food is excellent and they have a nice variety of both traditional breakfast options(chilaquilles) as well as many more common 'US' type options like pancakes. They are also flexibile and take requests and have 'specials' etc. Their location is excellent and safe and is just 2 blocks off the main city center where all the shops and restaurants are. If you stay here, you won't be dissapointed!

Room Tip: All rooms are equally charming and well done...

I was traveling with a friend on business and we contemplated staying at this lovely spot. Unfortunately they did not have a room for us but we ended up going for a visit and eating there two nights consecutively. What a wonderful spot as charming as any little spot I have ever seen.. Both Rosa and her sister could not have been nicer and the food was excellent. We are encouraging Rosa to update her photos as the photos do not do justice to the charm, love and enchanting details she has poured forth into her little oasis.
I will be back with my boyfriend next time that is for sure as a more romantic spot does not exist.

The photos of this hotel does not capture how beautiful it is- feels like you are in Europe. Rosa, the owner, is an interior designer and she did such a good job - I asked to see every room. The rooms are romantic with a touch of Moroccan influence. We ate the restaurant two of the three nights while in town because the food was so good and the reasonably priced. My friend had the molcajete bowl (twice) and could not stop raving about the tomatillo/cilantro broth. She is an X New Yorker living in Mexico and kept saying it was the best she's ever tasted. I am a vegetarian - and was thrilled with my salad. Finally, a salad that eats like a meal with goat cheese, organic produce, and delicious dressing. Home made tortillas on the side. The hotel is located on a quiet street in a very safe area and we opted to sit outside in the warm evening air. The music and atmosphere made you linger with a few extra glasses of wine (and very reasonable check).

My husband and I stayed at Rosa Morada, we have a young son (5) and the experience was great. The hotel is right in the center of town, we didn't need a car while we stayed in Tlaquepaque. Everything is within walking distance, restaurants, shopping, entertainment, churches.
The owners are in the hotel all the time and they are very charming and always make sure you have a pleasant stay, the staff is very helpful. We felt like guests more than tourists. Rooms were clean and the rooms were very large.

We stayed one night at this great little hotel, and they were extremely accommodating. Our plane arrived very early, and we were at the hotel by 9:00am. They did not have a room for us yet but graciously agreed to allow us to leave our baggage there so we could explore until our room was available at about 1:00. They helped make bus reservations for us to San Miguel over the phone which turned out to be a bit more challenging than expected, but they stuck with it for at least a half hour. The next day we wanted to explore Tonola before leaving for San Miguel. They again allowed us to leave our luggage as our bus did not leave until mid-afternoon. We appreciated all the grace for just one night's stay.

The room was very charming, but it was cold in February. However, they supplied plenty of warm blankets. While the area was quiet, the church bells woke me up a couple of times during the night. We enjoyed the included breakfast the following morning.

I would be very happy to return to this charming place and enjoy the care and hospitality once again.

We happened upon this gem, and were so happy that we did. We had been told to go to Hotel des Flores, and we did go and look at it after we booked our stay at Rosa Morada. Suffice it to say that we couldn't be happier that we had chosen (by chance) Rosa's fantastic Inn.
Everyone was incredibly friendly, and Rosa herself couldn't have been sweeter or more helpful. The breakfast was one of the best meals we had during our stay. We also ended-up walking away with a lovely painting from her gallery (and believe me, we went to EVERY gallery in town). All in all a great place...

We stayed here for a couple of nights last July, twice actually. It is such a special little place. Right in the middle of town, yet quiet at night. The rooms are done up with artistic and thoughtful care. The beds are very comfortable, the bathroom spacious and complete. Staff is extremely nice and helpful. Breakfasts are copious and delicious. We also had dinner once which was one of the best we had during the whole vacation period! We had a wonderful time here! Thank you!
