“Romantic Old Mexico Stay”
Reviewed 20 January 2014

We had a lovely stay at the Rosa Morada B&B. Old Mexico charm with a lovely quiet courtyard. The staff were more than helpful. Hector was a wonderful host giving us all kinds of suggestions and advice. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. Being one block from the Tlaquepaque pedestrian walkway made the location very convenient.

We really liked this B&B. It is one block over from the main pedestrian walk in Tlaquepaque. The staff was very helpful and friendly and made sure we were happy with everything. We stayed in the first room past the office and it was quite nice with 16 ft ceilings and a large bathroom. We had plenty of hot water but only used the shower, not the horse trough sized bathtub. Breakfast was included in the price of the room and we had our choice from the menu. We had an omelet cooked to order and scrambled eggs Mexican style. Both came with chilaquiles and refried beans and coffee. All was very good. I would stay here again if we visit Tlaquepaque. The only issue I have is with the blaring American hip hop music in the dining room during breakfast. Americans come here for the local culture and those of us over 50 usually do not like this style of music. Play mariachi music, since that is what Guadalajara is known for. But, this is just my personal gripe, everything else was perfecto!

Room Tip: Ask to see the available rooms before you choose. Some have larger bathrooms than others.

Our couples trip to Tlaquepaque was wonderful due to Hector (the owner) and the staff at La Rosa Morada Hotel...Only 5 rooms with superior customer service and excellent English suprised us the most. Only 2 blocks from the plaza in Tlaquepaque was ideal and the price was very reasonable. In addition to an amazing staff, Hector personally drove us to our destination on several occations which added the personal touch we were not expecting.
If you go to Tlaquepaque for the Tequila train, the Guachimontones (round ancient ruins), the historic center in the center of Guadalajara and you stay somewhere else, you will not match the price and personal attention of this lovely quaint hotel. We even arranged a private tour in a Chevy suburban for just the four of us through Hector...If you are not traveling on a shoestring, stay here at La Morada Hotel...You will be enchanted with Guadalajara.

Room Tip: Room #5 was very humid due to amount of rainfall and location

The owners, Hector and Roberta very attentive and nice people, the place is charming and clean, I highly recommend as it is located in the heart of Tlaquepaque just few steps from the main square. Complimentary breakfast is a great plus, I recommend the spinach and panela cheese omelet and the fresh squeeze orange juice.

Room Tip: Quiet and clean

The rooms are beautiful and full of character. Delicious breakfast is included. The location is perfect, right in the heart of town.
The highlight however, was the wonderful owners and staff. We had a great stay and will definitely return
Thanks Hector

Only a block or two from the Pedestrian Mall makes this charming B&B perfect for those who are shopping, sight seeing or napping. The service at the B&B is very attentive and breakfast was very good. The only complaint would be that the hot water seemed to peter out by the time it got to #5 (the last room on the line). Rosa Morada is under new management and doing very well and so I expect that thie water issue will be fixed soon.

Room Tip: #1 is the only room with a bathtub. #5 doesn't always get good hot water as it is furthest from...

My husband and I found this hotel completely by accident. We were staying at a hotel in Guadalajara when we travelled to Tlaquepaque. While spending the day in this beautiful city, walking everywhere and exploring, we came across Rosa Morada. We decided to go inside....by this time we were in love with Tlaquepaque and had discussed spending more than an afternoon in this area. We were greeted by the owners and they answered all our questions, showed us the property including several of the rooms and instantly made us feel welcome. We thanked them and went on our way. We decided to tour several other boutique hotels, but NOTHING COMPARED to the charm, authentic mexican style, friendliness of the owners/staff, and cleanliness of the Rosa Morada. We later called the hotel, booked a room and in the end were not disappointed. Even better than we had thought. Service is amazing, rooms are very clean, courtyard is relaxing, and the breakfast and coffee are very good. There is no question that when we return to the area, (and hopefully that will be soon) we will be staying at this hotel.
If you are not familiar with Tlaquepaque, this location is perfect. It is only a couple blocks from all the shops, restaurants, bars, shopping, etc and is in a very safe area.
A very special thank you to both Hector and Roberta for making our stay at your hotel such a great experience....we will see you soon and miss you. Thank you again, Cesar and Stacy
