“Service, Service, Service”
Reviewed 8 April 2009

The hotel is beautiful. There are two buildings across a very quiet street from each other. Each has a pool- nice! The room included a very nice breakfast and welcome drink. The room had a TV with a million channels, very good air conditioning and nice bathroom. Otherwise, it was kind of plain. I think there were other nicer rooms, but I was by myself and it was ok for me.

So what makes this place so special? Service!!!! Anywhere I went, they had a map ready and made sure I understood it. In Guadalajara, it's a must!! I have driven all over the world, and this is one of the easiest cities to get lost in. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The other reason is that Tlaquepaque is georgous. Great restaurants, great pendestrian mall, great stores. I stayed in Guadalajara for a nigth and here (10 minutes away) for two. It was a perfect decision. Not going to Tlaquepaque, would be like visiting Denver and not checking out Boulder.

Great hotel, and the BEST service. I would definitely stay here again. So should you!

I stayed here 4 years ago and the staff was great but the rooms were a little tired and worn. This time I would say that the room was great. We had a room in the main building upstairs on the front. It was a very spacious room, well appointed with a king size bed.
We arrived in the afternoon and got out welcome drink. The staff was eating their lunch, a barbecue of sorts. We were the only ones in the bar area besides them. They looked over at us and asked if we would like some food. It was really great, chorizo, arrachera, beans, salsa and tortillas. They all were so happy and smiling. I loved it.

We had breakfast there a couple of mornings and it was great.

I would definitely recommend staying there.

We originally had a reservation in Guadalajara at La Tapatio, but apparently they "lost" our reservation and were sold out. Last minute, we were able to get reservations at this property. First of all, the staff was very helpful in giving us directions over the phone (a little difficult to find!). Once we arrived, Annabelle was very gracious in welcoming us to the hotel. We had spacious and clean rooms and found the beautiful property very quiet and relaxing. Would definitely recommend this hotel!!!!!

This is a boutique hotel in the colonial pueblo of Tlaquepaque, an artist´s community that is close enough to be part of the city of Guadalajara. The hotel is within walking distance to el Centro and convenient to the fine arts stores, restaurants, and historical catédral. Rooms are located on both sides of the narrow calle Florida with pool & garden on each side.

We were greeted with a complimentary margarita and shortly afterward went for a swim in the pool. Though the air was cool, the water was warm as they used a solar blanket at night and during the day when the pool was not in use. Our room was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated in art tiles from the region. The bed and linens were like those found in U.S. hotels and included wash cloths. The service was excellent, really accomodating, and some of the staff spoke English. When the afternoon rains came, we enjoyed fresh mexican coffee under a sheltered sitting area open to the outside.

Because the hotel´s location is in a residential part of a small town, they have ¨water delivery¨ problems - not unusual in colonial mexico. The water pressure in the shower was unreliable, but we did have sufficient hot water. I suspect hot water delivery was on a first-come-first-serve basis from a single hot water heater as we overheard other guests complain about the lack of it. However, the location, regional decor & ambiance, professionalism of the staff, and comfort level for English speakers far outweighed any issues we had. This is an ideal place from which to experience old México.

  • Liked — The ambiance, authentic mexican decor, and the tranqulity of the space.
  • Disliked — The lack of water pressure in the shower.

My wife and i have just returned from a most satisfying visit to La Villa del Ensueno in Tlaquepaque, Mexico. Our trip was for seven nights and absolutely perfect.
The del Ensueno commitment to customer service started with the staff who responded to our email questions even before we departed from the US. The staff told us about hotel amenities that we had questions about and they even made a number of inquiries for us regarding day trips, responding comprehensively and in perfect english.

As soon as we arrived, we realized what a special property this was. Brightly painted in part of a restored colonial hacienda, the facilities on both sides of Ave. Florida are kept impeccably clean and there are a multitude of spaces to rest outside the large, well decorated rooms.

You can certainly see the facility as we did on the web site. What you cannot see is the wonderful commitment that every staff member has to the comfort of the Villa's guests. Small maintenance problems were addressed quickly and complex tour arrangements to shop for antique ceramics and to visit tequila distilleries were made with ease and economically.

The breakfasts are native in flavor and excellent. The bar that opens in the afternoon is comfortable and staffed with a warm young man who is very genial and an extremely helpful resource for information on every question we had during our whole stay!

Comfort, convenience, an excellent staff, and the proximity to the shops and Museums in Tlaquepaque and Tonala make this a perfect property. After over a dozen trips to Mexico and Central America, we truly believe that this hotel is perfection... plus!

We had a delightful 10-day stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it if you are looking for a bed and breakfast type experience. We became nervous approaching the hotel by taxi as the neighborhood looks pretty run down but soon realized that views from the street are deceptive. It was an absolutely safe area and the property was delighful. Every room/suite is different with a sense of privacy due to the layout. It was clean and comfortable with beautiful gardens and lots of private nooks and crannies. The staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant having a rental car delivered to us, finding a terrific and inexpensive golf course in the Chapala area, giving us detailed directions, arranging for a masseuse, recommending restaurants, doing light laundry, finding a driver to take our son back and forth to the university and on and on and on. We enjoyed the other guests we met at breakfast and "happy hour" and will probably stay connected with some. Special thanks to Vincente, Guillermo, Daniel, Carlos, Rosie, and Angelica, for their gracious hospitality.

We stayed here for a couple nights before leaving Guadalajara. What a find. The place is beautiful. The people are the best. Daniel, the bartender, has some great recommendations on restaraunts and is really helpful. I had the fortunate experience of spending some time talking with the owner of the hotel - Vincente, I believe. He has some great stories and was great to spend some time with. I thouroughly enjoyed my stay and would have to say bail on the Hilton, Holiday Inn or any of the American chains and stay here you will not regret it.
