Just a great example of the glorious artful talents of Mexicans and Mexican culture along with being housed in an ancient hacienda

“Very Engaging”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

I have to admit that the mention of a ceramics museum sounds kind of boring to me and I had little interest in coming here. But we were in Tlaquepaque for the day and had just visited the El Refugio Cultural Center next door so I figured why not... and I was surprised at how interesting it was. They had very nice examples of traditional ceramics from the different regions of Mexico so you could get a sense of how diverse this art form is across the country. And by "ceramics" they did not mean dull things like plates and bowls, they had all these different figures depicting daily life, myths, festivals, etc. It was actually pretty cool, very engaging in a visual sense. Yes, its small, but that worked for me. Thumbs up!

“lots of variety”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

No charge to enter and diversifies the Tlaqapaque shopping trip. Nice range of products in lots of small rooms. My friend is a fan of miniatures so she enjoyed that the most. I enjoyed the large (1/2 barrell size) glazed ceramics that would be tough to see anyplace else. Such wonderful organic detail. I would have enjoyed it all more with some or more explanation or interpretative detail, in either spanish or english. Old cobblestones make it tough to get in and out if you're not in great shape. Go to the bathroom somewhere else or take your own supplies. The gift shop is worth a quick browse too but wish it had a better quality selection.

“If you're into ceramics”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

I get bored with pottery. Occasionally something unique will catch my eye, but in general I'm not one to spend hours browsing ceramics. That said, this place is pretty cool. When I was there a man was outside making pottery and people could buy a piece to take home and bake on their own.

“Fabulous pieces on display!”
Reviewed 8 June 2013

This small museum exhibits only local ceramics -- sounds dull doesn't it. It's not. What is on display is first rate art -- which happens to be made out of clay. Beautiful pieces in several styles, well worth the half hour or so it takes to walk through -- and it's free. I only wish the gift shop sold pieces of the same high quality as those on display -- after seeing the exhibits I was motivated to spend some serious cash for a (suitcase packable) piece of ceramic artwork.
