“Fabulous lodge”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

This is our second time to stay at n'Kwazi and we love this lodge. The owners, Valerie and Wynand, are very friendly and accomodating - we enjoyed their company throughout our stay. In the evenings, we enjoyed the bar and lounge with the drums and dancing. Loved watching the World Cup with guests from all around the world. Our room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The sunset river cruise with Marcus was a terrific experience. The meals were all excellent: great variety and very tasty. We deeply appreciate the very close connection n'Kwazi Lodge has with the local community and lodge guests have many opportunities to meet local students, villagers, and more. This lodge is a true highlight on our trip through Namibia. We will definitely be back.

We loved Nkwazi for its location on the river bank of the Okavango. Great Welcome from the owner, very comfortable rooms, good food, very family orentated. The owners are very much involved into the local community and can organize great educational trips to the nearby villages.
Watch out if you go in winter, nights are very cold!!!
Perfect stopover on way to/back from the Caprivi strip.

We stayed here for two nights in June - very nice camping sites, clean ablution blocks with light above the mirrors and a plug point for a hair-dryer *yay* I could finally put my contacts in without fidgeting. Very friendly hosts who supplied us with braai wood and we even got our laundry done. Nice setting on the river for sundowners and great bar!

We spent one night here in one of the chalets right on the river bank. Our chalet was about a 10 minute walk from the dining room, among the campsites. Some people would be bothered but we thought it was nice to be apart from the main lodge and pool. And to apologise for the "long walk" the owner put a complimentary bottle of wine in the room- we didn't need or expect it, but it was a nice gesture.

The rooms were fairly basic, but clean and functional. Power tended to be limited and so once it was dark, basically bed was the only option. There were several groups in for the night, both bus tours and campers. The atmosphere was very friendly with everyone enjoying themselves.

Our cases were carried by very attentive porters, and they were waiting patiently with a boat in the morning to take them, and us, back to the main lodge. A two minute boat ride, rather than the walk.

Dinner and breakfast at the lodge were lovely, plenty of food.

If you are not familiar with the area or do not have a guide, it might be a bit difficult to find the lodge - it is a bit far from the main road and you have to take several tracks.

Would recommend for anyone in the area.

Rooms are too dark, no power during most times of day and only for a few ours during evenings and mornings. Makes charging phones, laptops etc a problem. The bathroom was the worst. The shower had a cupboard build half way into it with the wood being soaked and filthy. It was difficult to find the toilet even during the day (due to the low light). Breakfast was average but the coffee bad. Dinner was good and the owners friendly. Overall the lodge looked run-down and needed a complete revamp.

Our family camped here for one night in June. The campsite area was a nice grassy lawn, with a private sink area for each spot. The bathrooms were a short walk away, with clean stalls and a shower with hot water (after the generator came on in the evening). We had a delicious dinner in the lodge area--chicken, beans, salad, potatoes, carrots, green beans, custard desserts and more. The host and owner, Wynand, was very welcoming. We also enjoyed sitting by the fire after dinner. The area was very quiet at night. We thought this was a wonderful place to stay.
