Reviewed 13 July 2009

Having just arrived back from a 2 week holiday with, my wife, daughter, son-in -law and 2 grand children from Kalamaki (Greece) I felt compelled to write and share with others our experience. We stayed in the Costa's 2 apartments. The apartment was suitably furnished and very well cleaned, it was also equipped with sufficient crockery and cutlery to suit our needs.
The apartments were located within a 10 minute walk to the beach and a 5 minute walk to the bars and restaurants which were very reasonably priced. The "On Site" amenities which consisted of two swimming pools and a brand new "Pool Bar" with all (the mod cons) Sky T.V. Internet access, play stations, pool table etc.
The feeling we have brought away from our holiday, is one of sadness, having to bid farewell to the people who made us so welcome throughout our stay there. We are all unanimous in our decision to return to the Costa's apartments again next year.
A mention must go to the staff for their commitment and cheerfulness in making our holiday what it was.... Excellent.
A Special mention to DENNIS, TAGIS, JO and Mama in the kitchen.

From Billy,Linda, Andrea, Gary and the grand kids Ryan and Kasey.

Me and my sister just came back from staying at the Costas 2 apartments in Kalamaki. The apartments were very comfortable and clean, shower room good too. We were in a studio on the ground floor that looked out over the gardens. Chickens, cockerels and little chicks roaming around too which was nice.
They had two kittens that we adopted and let come in our room, not everyone's cup of tea but it was ours.

The location of the apartments is brilliant, a short walk to the excellent beach and even shorter distance to the main road. Far enough away not to hear noise from the road.

There were quite a few places closed down as it was nearing the end of the season but enough to keep us occupied. Two restaurants we tried called Artemis and Heaven's Kitchen were both excellent food and good value and good service.

Nightlife, we ventured into Fire Bar and also Down Under. We preferred Fire Bar. Lucky for us, we met a few people that had worked the season so we had a great laugh. Took a trip around the island for 20 euros which was very good, the rep Alexandra who is Greek born knew her stuff and was very informative and a really nice person. Took the 10 euro trip into Zante town with a rep called Christine who was useless.

All in all, we had the best time. I cannot wait to go back and really want to start planning something for May next year. All the seasoned workers said that end of May would be a good time for us to go so thats what we're looking at doing. If you go to Zante, stay in Kalamaki not Laganas. Laganas has turned into a Greek Blackpool.

I was slightly worried about staying at the Costas after reading some reviews but i am glad to say that i loved the place!

We stayed in a studio which had a double bed and a single bed (i must say the beds are quite uncomfortable, but that was the only downside!) and had a fridge, 2 cooking rings and a kettle. There was also plenty of utensils.

The bathroom was quite large and had a lovely shower, large sink and toilet. The water was always hot.

The complex itself is split into 4 blocks of studios and 1 bed apartments. The pool area is across a narrow road which is not busy at all. The pool area is great - always lots of sunbeds - no need to get up early!! The pool itself is very clean and there is a separate kids pool which also has lots of sunbeds around it.
The pool bar is newly built - not like the picture in the 2009 Sunset brochure! It is all air-conditioned, and is really tastefully decorated.

The pool bar serves hot and cold snacks all day and are quite good value for money (good size portions), but you can find cheaper if you venture out and about. We eat at Ambrosia a couple of times which was okay - a bit pricey though! Parthenon was really nice and so was the pizza place Tazzies. Stani's taverna which is near Crystal beach is lovely and good value.

The Rose and Crown is an excellent place for a drink (hi to Paula and Lee!!) and did a happy hour 8pm - 9.30pm buy one get one free!! We also liked Down Under which is great for a lively night. Plus Soda is also a nice place.
We went into Laganas one night (7 Euro in a taxi) which was very lively. There are lots of gypsy children trying to sell you fluorescent bracelets etc and the PR's can be quite pushy but not aggressive. We went to Barcode as recommended by Lee from the Rose and Crown (Hi to Geordie!!) which was really good.

We went on a trip around the island (27 Euro each). It was really nice and there is lots of amazing scenery. It lasted all day 9.00am to 5.30pm but is well worth it. We booked with TEZ Tours - a local company who have a shop on the main street. They do lots of excursions a lot cheaper than the reps. We also went into Zante Town using the local bus service which only costs 1.40 Euro each way - well worth it!!

Crystal beach is gorgeous and if you are lucky you might see a turtle - they are huge!

All in all i thought Kalamaki was a lovely resort, great for families and couples alike, and Costas was a really good self-catering choice.
