Second time at the Bitzaro and it was every bit as good as the first visit...if not better. Same all round quality, can't believe that anyone can complain about the food. We have stayed in many more expensive hotels which could not hold a candle to the Bitzaro, well done to the chef and his hard working team, in fact well done to every member of this brilliant hotel.
Have a good winter break...you really have earned it.
See you all in August

An amazing holiday at an amazing price.
This Hotel is exceptionaly clean and well looked after. The staff are great and remembered our names and what we liked for lunch / drink etc after 1 day. Its a smallish hotel and has a really friendly atmosphere, especially with the bar / restaurant area. Plenty of sunloungers and space to top up your tan and its well located in the town (close to the beach but still quite rural and quiet). It has plenty of activities (there's a pool!, tennis court / football nets) and you are never far from the bars and restaurants in town should you wish.
There are also some lovely walks along the beach to Laganas and across the mountain to Argassi. Stunning views at the quarry on the way to Argassi and (when you get there) you can walk along the road to Zante! Not for the feint hearted but I highly recommend this walk (takes about 3 hours but is well worth the effort).
The restaurants in town are good (try the Zakantha for a lovely romantic meal with traditional food) and there is a Greek Taverna about 5 minutes walk called Escape (very friendly and traditional place).
The food - good, well cooked and tastes fine if not always traditionally Greek. The Greek salad at the outside bar is wonderfull - fresh produce, local feta cheese and juicey tomatoes. If you don't go out of the hotel for a meal in a local restaurant you are missing a treat! Again the Zakantha is great!
The only thing that let this holiday down was the Thomas Cook staff at Manchester - rude and unhelpfull. The staff in Greece (Lisa, I think) were very helpfull though.

All in all a fantastic late summer holiday on a fantastic island.

Room Tip: Choose a double balcony i.e. 404,406,408 and if you ask for a bottle of wine (cava) in the room for...

We just came back from a week at this hotel. It was wonderful!
The staff were all lovely and very helpful throughout the week. The housekeeping team worked incredibly hard. The room was very clean for the full stay and we weren't the tidiest of families.
The food was much better than I expected. Never having been on an all inclusive break before I was hoping for slightly better than canteen food but I would be more than happy to be served that food in a restaurant here. They even included food for fussy 14 year old eaters.
The swimming pool was absolutely freezing the only time we were in it but the sun beds and whole pool area were very nicely kept. The beach was only five minutes down the road so we didn't need to spend much time in the pool anyway.
Kalamaki itself was quite small and very quiet (we were there near the end of the season so I'm sure it's a lot busier during the summer) but this was exactly what we were looking for.
All in all it was a perfect family holiday and I would be more than happy to recommend this hotel to anyone and I hope to return in the future.
Thank you very much to everyone here for making our visit so good.

Bitzaro Grande hotel is an amazing place! The hotel is very clean and the staff are all really good! Cleaners are really good and we had clean towels and bed linen daily! Within a day of being there they All know your name and room number! Thomas, Judy and Andy are incredible they get everyone involved in the daily games to win bingo tickets! If you didn't want to join in they wouldn't pressure you! Judy and Andy also took you to a local club a couple nights a week! Thomas in the evening with his Austrian bingo machine is really funny and really good with names! You guys are amazing! Nickey at the pool bar is really good and even if there is a que she wont keep you very long! The whole hotel is friendly and i would highly recommend! We are already thinking about are next holiday with you next year! See you guys then!

So after a whirlwind month of work and university, we are finally getting around to writing our review!
Me and my boyfriend stayed at the resort 1st - 7th September 2011. We booked with Thomas Cook and that included the hotel transfer, which is about 5mins on the coach to hotel. The hotel is outstanding and very pretty! The reception area, bar, pool and restaurant areas were exceptionally clean.
Our hotel room was perfect, cleaned to a high standard every day we never once had to ask for fresh sheets or towels. The room came complete with large dressing table and large mirror, a TV (which we never once turned on) a small fridge, large wardrobes and good size bathroom. The balcony was beautiful with flowers running along the building and comes with a table for 2! Perfect for a quite drink before dinner!

The weather was incredible, so hot! 42C in the shade, says it all! Not a single cloudy or cool day! We were a little worried about it being September, but weren't let down at all!

Food -
Breakfast - large selection, your traditional english fry up with every type of egg. Classic continental, hams, olives, breads, cheeses and salads, cereals, toast and selection of bread rolls and greek yoghurt with fresh, dry and tinned fruit.
Lunch - Large selection of salads, dressed and 'make your own' also fish dishes, meat dishes and vegetarian. And for those feeling a little less adventurous there is always chips! Between 10-5 the pool bar offers bar snacks, toasties, sandwiches, burgers, salads and cakes (all made fresh!)
Dinner - Like lunch there is something for everyone and plenty of space to sit. Large indoor restaurant and two verandas either side of the hotel!

The pool is large, with plenty of sun loungers to go around so there is no need to worry about not getting one!
The staff at the hotel are fantastic, you couldn't ask for better! Throughout the day they lay on small games, which are such a laugh whether your involved or watching the whole hotel was in high spirits. If you win you are rewarded with free bingo tickets, which is every night and you can win up to £200! (which we had a small share) As well as this there are quiz's, karaoke, entertainment, and loads more!

Kalamaki it self is small, a strip of bars and tourist shops, we ventured out a few nights with people we met at the hotel, some really fun cheap bars! The beach is lovely and a 5min walk from the hotel. You can also book day excursions, we booked to go onto the island boat trip, stopping off at shipwreck island, Keri caves (blue caves) and turtle island also some swim stops. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the Greek government and all the boats in zante not being licensed properly, meaning trips were cancelled, we did manage to get onto one the day after this was announced, but were greeted by coastal guards & police when we arrived back, now we don't speak any Greek, but the conversation between the boat staff and coastal guards and police didn't sound to nice! The blue caves were stunning, the water was crystal clear and you can swim deep into the caves, bring snorkels to watch fish swimming underneath you!

Zante has so much to offer for so many different people! We absolutely loved our stay, and wish we had booked for longer. The Bitzaro Grande is our first all-inclusive holiday, and we wouldn't go back to self catering after this! I think the Bitzaro will be hard to beat, and we will defiantly be back in the near future!!

Perfect for families, couples, friends and wedding parties!!

A Thomas Cook holiday. We paid for transport to / from the airport, then found it was a five minute journey in the bus with no TCook rep on board, an easy £42 for TCook.
Compliments to all the Bitzaro hotel staff who work so hard and were always pleasant to their customers. The entertainment staff were enthusiastic and helped guests enjoy their holiday.
Our choice of hotel was influenced by the ratings posted on tripadviser, we were dissapointed with the quality of the food. Breakfast had little fresh fruit, lots of tinned peach / pear. The same sad hot selection each day included rubberised poached eggs, frazzled fried eggs, the thinnest cut bacon ever, cooked tomatoes and mushrooms, none of the cooked food was warm by the time we sat down to eat it. Lunch / snacks at the pool bar were better than the breakfast offering. Evening meals were adequate, not what we expected from the ratings.
3 stars would be a fairer assessment of this hotel. Two days into our holiday and the air conditioning was turned off, 4 star hotels should not expect their customers to go down the street and buy beach towels for their sunbeds, we had no choice at the Bitzaro. We have used all inclusive hotels before (Cyprus and Tenerife), their facilities and quality of food were far superior to the Bitzaro.
The pool bar was where the evenings entertainment was provided, excellent for the bingo addicts, very limited otherwise. Fortunately we met really nice friends for company each night and swapped stories.
One of the TCook offerings was a trip to Olympia at 59 Euros each. Hardly value for money when the ferry was only 12 Euros, leaving 47 Euros to cover the coach journeys from / to the Bitzaro hotel, tickets into Olympia were at your own cost in addition to the 59 Euros you have already paid. Once there, you had a whistle stop tour then left to your own devices to go shopping, hardly the point of buying tickets to see Olympia. You would be better off booking taxis and doing the trip yourself or with another couple.
The highlight of one afternoon was seeing a brown rat just six feet away under someones sunbed, (I chose not to wake that person up and tell them) then the various screams as it made its way across the pool area, next day the manageress explained several times that what I saw was a "gopher", not a rat...pull the other leg lady, not one of the many guests who were there had any doubt about the rodents identity.
The small one street town around the hotel was clearly suffering from the crisis that Greece is enduring, many buildings shut down and generally badly run down. 10 Euros in a taxi takes you to Zante where there is far more to see and do if you choose to holiday on this Greek island.
Sorry but we won't be back, all the staff were fantastic but the resort and hotel were not good enough.

Room Tip: Overlooking the pool as the surrounding land outside the hotel is depressing.

Thank you for the time you spent to write this review and thank you for choosing to spend your holidays with us.

Your review and opinion are very important to us and all the key points mentioned on both this review and the one you filled in during your check out from our hotel, are taken into consideration.

There is not much for me to answer here, as we have been through most when I met you and during your stay in our hotel.
The comment that grabbed my attention though was the one for the food and I have already talked about it with the hotel Chef.
Also allow me to mention that we do have a pest control system in the hotel and we had absolutely no complain of any animal and/or an animal as this was described by you in a hotel guest room, service and food display area or any indoor public area of the hotel.

Finally I wish you and your lovely wife a nice winter and I hope to have the chance to see you again in the future.
