we recentley stayed at the kalamki beach hotel in zante, after not visiting zante since approx 2003.
the hotel was nice and clean and the rooms were nice and clean also, the only compaint we had was the very small shower in our room, and by saying small i mean small.
we stayed bed and breakfast so we could eat out every night in the local taverna's
the staff were nice and friendly, but i find thats always the case in greece, they'r just nice people in general.
we used the beach bar located right on the sandy beach and had good service off all the staff there, the drinks were resonably priced as well, 3 euro's for a mythos and about 4 - 5 euro's for a cocktail, we did'nt try the food, even though it looked nice, as we dont eat a lot throghout the day when its hot, as it was everyday.
we ate it merlos taverna about 10 times while we were there and the food was brilliant, we had starters, mains, and a couple of mythos and a litre bottle of red wine and the bill came to approx 3o euro's which i thought was great value. we also ate in the buan amicci ? probabley spelt that wrong, the pizza place and the food was lovely in there also.
we had 2 meals in pedoros i think its spelt? nice food again, but we preffered merlos.
while your there dont forget to visit banana beach in vasillikos and dafni beach as well, the sun beds and brolly's are free at dafni beach for those who might be on a tight budget, so worth a visit and its a beautiful cove there with a taverna right on the beach for your drinks and food.
all in all we had a great time and zante is still as we remembered it, red hot, beautiful scenary, graet food, friendly people, great beaches, what more could you ask for.

When we did eventually arrive at the hotel were were greeted with a very warm welcome, only to be shocked by the extra cost of the fridge, air con & safe. The fridge was turned on but locked & consequently made the room even hotter than it already was. We have been to a few Greek islands before & never had to pay for a fridge if it was in our room.
We also didn't get used to the low flying aircraft and they started taking off & landing from 4.15 am, which would wake us up. We paid for bed & breakfast & all we had was a buffet consisting of bread ( we toasted ourselves) cake & biscuits, hard boiled eggs, tinned mix fruit, yoghurt, rubbery sliced cheese, thinly sliced luncheon meat, the occasional slices of water melon & local corn flakes. The hot drinks were from a machine and were not very pleasant. We asked to be moved & this was achieved by our second week only with us constantly phoning Olympic's office. We were put in a lower star rated hotel at Tsilivi, but what a difference! We could choose our breakfast from vast menu which had vegetarian options, lovely freshly made coffee & we could eat anytime we liked!
Our room was very large with large bathroom over looking the Olive grove behind the hotel, plus free fridge!
We would never go back to the Kalamaki Beach Hotel again.

Room Tip: Try asking for a room in the shade.

The hotel was clean and tidy with great staff throughout the hotel and bars.
The breakfast was basic but adequate could have done with some more fresh fruit.
The room are good but found that the bed were too hard for us, towels and bed sheets changed regularly and bathroom cleaned daily.
Pool was great with plenty of sun beds and only a 1 minute walk to the beach where there are more free sun beds.
The pool side bar food was excellent with friendly staff, pool side area is kept clean and tidy with a watchful eye from Nico the bar manager.
The walk to Kalamaki centre is only a 5 minute walk away , with plenty of good Tavernas and shops.
The only negative was the unexpected charges for the air con, fridge and safe which was not mentioned by the tour company or on the website.

Just returned from this lovely hotel. We had a super time. Could not fault this hotel, its right on the beach. All staff very friendly and helpful, food at the pool bar was lovely and cooked fresh, plenty of sunbeds whatever time you chose to come down to the pool. 5 mins transfer time to the hotel, the aeroplanes flying over was not a problem at all, and to tell you the truth we hardly noticed them, the noise was definitely not an issue. The bar was a nice stop before bed for a night cap. And again staff very friendly. Rooms were spacious and very clean, bedding changed everyday, towels changed every 3 days. We had a sea view from our room which was very nice to wake up to. We will definitely be going back. If I had to make one tiny little criticism it would be having to pay for the aircon and fridge which are a must. All in all though a fab holiday.

The Kalamaki Beach is a great choice of hotel. It's the only hotel in Kalamaki that is actually on the beach. Only a 10 minute walk to the centre so you're not far from all the resturants and bars.
I used to live in Zante and would sometimes sit by the pool at Kalamaki Beach hotel, but since then the hotel has been very tastefully renovated. This is the first time I've stayed at the hotel and was very impressed. Its quite understated, not too posh, but still very nice, and perfect for all age groups.
The room was very nice, okay size, but the air con is payable locally, unlike some hotels.
The receptionist (Sophia) is lovely and very friendly, and will help with any questions.
We booked our hotel seperately with olympic and our flights with thomson. We never saw our rep once which was a shame, we received a welcome pack that she'd left at reception, they day before we flew home!
Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Kalamaki. Its such a shame about all the all inclusive hotels opeining up in Kalamaki as the restaurants are so nice and value for money. You'd be much better staying at a hotel like this and eating out.

Room Tip: Request a sea view
