We just had a lovely week at the Meandros Boutique Hotel. We were there during the 1st week of May, hence the beginning of the season and the resort was still waking up from the winter. But the hotel was very fresh and clean. We had a huge room with a balcony looking out the back toward the mountains. We found it very quiet, especially when the double glazed doors were closed. One night we left them open and had to close them again because of the noise, but they effectively block out the sound. The room has a fridge and sink with kettle, twin hob and plates, cups, knives forks etc. and a TV. There is a safe box, but it costs €20 for a week. We used it, but I got the impression that the housekeepers were all very honest.
The bed was very comfortable and the mattresses appeared to be new. Sheets and towels changed every other day and floors and bins cleaned daily. The housekeepers did a brilliant job.
The food was good, Nico the chef was above and beyond, I have a gluten intolerance and he spent time with me every breakfast and evening showing which dishes I could eat and which not. After the first day I didn't need to ask, he just looked out for me and came over of his own accord. The waiters were good too, Peter and Daisy were always quick to bring drinks and take away empty plates. Daisy was giving my wife basic Greek lessons each day. We had a good time with them. All the staff were good. One evening, about 10pm we had an accident in our room involving a broken bottle of wine. I called reception and within 5 minutes a cleaner was there with a mop and a happy disposition. She efficiently cleaned up the mess and was gone again within 10 mins. So less than 15 mins after the accident the whole mess was cleaned up.
Another day the wifi stopped working in the rooms, I mentioned it to Dina the receptionist as we went out and when we got back from a walk a couple of hours later the routers had been reset and was working perfectly again.
This hotel is really a jewel. It isn't expensive to stay there, but they don't run it like a cheap and nasty hotel. It isn't the Hilton either, but we felt it it deserves it's 4**** rating. The whole staff work hard to make it a success. If you get an opportunity to go there, please give it a try, you won't regret it. We won't go back next year, simply because there are so many places to visit on this beautiful planet, but we have decided that we will definitely go back to the Meandros Hotel one day.
