“Excellent in every way.”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Family of 4. 2 adults and 2 Boys aged 15 and 13. from Llanelli S.Wales. We stayed from 25/07/2014 to 8/8/2014. We use trip advisor regularly before booking hotels and we booked this because of excellent reveiws, you got the odd person who would pick holes in something and mark it down and write stupid comments along the lines of "I didnt like the way a waiter looked at me" hence 3 star rating.
so none of all that nonsence here's my review.
from the very first foot stepped in to the arrivals lounge at Zante airport we were met by the hotel's own transport which was waiting to take us to the hotel. This is included as a courtesy. (A taxi costs €13.) its only a 5-10 min spin so you may be worried that being so close to the airport you'd get some Aircraft noise. Wrong, none whatsoever. The hotel reception staff were all extremely polite and we had a welcome drink on arrival. Our Room was excellent overlooking the pool, so we may be a bit biased in our reveiw compared to others who maybe didnt have such a room location. The room was large and the beds were soft and comfortable with extra pillows in the cupboard. free safe deposit and free wifi which we also managed to recieve on our balcony and all around the pool. The room was tastefully decorated with a flat screen TV (although there was nothing of interest on it in the way of English language programs, it didnt bother us one bit. Who wants to stay in and watch TV!!). The pool was excellent and large enough so it never got jammed, and the water was warm and clean, its quite deep ranging from around a 1m to 2.80m. Theres a small kids pool attached but cordoned off from the deeper pool. Theres also a Jacuzzi. another bonus was that there was always loungers available so none of the dawn raids getting up and putting down towels. (we were there at peak time summer dont forget). food was excellent in the restaurant and the waiting staff were all very friendly. Our two boys didnt find the food as appealing as my wife and I. Possibly they could have catered a bit better for children, have chips available maybe? But they did have on occasions a chef cooking chicken nuggets and chips. In saying this I heard that the chef was available to cook any meals especially for individual preferences so maybe I should have asked. We ordered a round of drinks with our evening meal, as you do, but on our last night when they were brought to our table we were informed they were "On the house" lovely touch but made an impression. Bar meals at lunch time around pool excellent size portions good quality and relatively cheap. Bar staff again all really nice and polite. Price of a beer at the pool €4 for a large Mythos. bottled beer avilable also.
the hotel really was top notch, all staff were really helpful and proffesional. We hired a car for a week. (do it before you go, we used holiday autos £249 for a week, Astra size car). Glad we did because Kalamaki not a great resort. Very spread out with very wide main road as you turn left out of hotel leading to Laganas which is 3KM away. Turn right out of hotel and narrow side road leads to the beach about 1/2 a mile away passing usual array of British bars and Greek restaurants intermingled with closed premises. Same in both directions. but the left turn leads to busier part of town. Kalamaki not really a resort I would return to but the Hotel was so good It may sway me in future. Got to mention a few bars/Restaurants which I enjoyed. Number 1 has to be "Zakanthi" restaurant and lounge bar on the road to Laganas, we ate out here, food was great and the setting is beatiful with trees hamocks and candles. Number 2, probably the "Chrystal Beach hotel" Beach bar overlooking Kalamaki beach lovely views but quiet as Kalamaki was in general. Number 3 probably the "Cave" bar across the road opposite Hotel. you can have a ride up to it on a Mini Moke, remember insect repellent as we were all suffering from mosquito bites after a night up there! Number 4, "Alexander The Great" just down road from hotel toward beach. Cheap night here and great staff.
Zante is great But hire a car. If i'd go back i'd go to Argassi, a busier resort less spread out at Argassi they have a sister hotel called "The Diana Palace" which i would probably head too, if its half as good as The Meandros" this would be a perfect holiday. But Argassi has got no beach.I love a nice beach our favourite has to be St Nicholas, which is through Argassi and onto Vassilikos peninsula, beautiful sand brilliant clear waters great beach bars/restaurants. Kalamaki beach dark sand clear waters nice but very windy on the days we spent there. also Turtle conservation very high on their list of priorities so a lot of the beach is restricted and closed at around 8pm with marshalls ensurining nobody walks on it. So my final comment on the hotel is, Hotel staff Brilliant, A+ Hotel cleanliness brilliant, A+ Hotel really was superb.A+, Kalamaki C.
Many Thanks to Hotel for a wonderful holiday from Phil, Sharon, Ryan and Thomas.

We returned to the Meandros hotel for a 2nd time and it was still as good as we remembered!
This time wee had a lovely family room 2 separate bedroom areas and huge balcony . Good Air con bit noisy at night but that's normal. Lovely clean pool area new sun loungers this year plenty to go around. Staff all work so hard and make the holiday enjoyable. Most staff still there from our first visit. Nothing is too much trouble for them. BBQ night is still the best night they do. Bit of greek dancing and ouzo flowing.. Hotel has a great location 5 mins walk to the beach and right by bars and shops 5 mins into Kalamaki strip itself. Hotel is only 5 mins away so a good tip after a tiring flight is to jump in a taxi only 13 euros and well worth it. Not much had changed. Would return again in the future.

Room Tip: Room 201 back room, end room nice views of the sunset and nice and private and quiet. Lovely and spa...

I have just returned from staying here for a week and found the hotel lovely. The team are welcoming and friendly throughout the hotel. The room was fab and modern and the the breakfast was good and the dinner food had variety and tasted nice. The pool was relaxing and had plenty of available beds for all guests. The sun stayed on the pool till about eight in the evening. Location was great had loads of bars and restaurants around and close to the beach. Really enjoyed it here and if you were looking for a relaxing break then I would defiantly recommend this hotel. X

I have just returned from staying in Meandros Hotel for a week, I stayed with 3 of my friends (we're all under 21) and it was our first girls holiday! We wanted a hotel near to the main Laganas strip but quite enough to escape the noise at night. It's about a 10 minute taxi away from Laganas which cost only €7 and the taxi rank is literally right next to the hotel so it's not far to get one. But in Kalamaki it's self there are plenty of little gift and food shops, bars and restaurants to pick from! However, it's more of a quiet/family place so if you're looking for a good night out then get a taxi to Laganas! We did go to a great cocktail bar called "Big Al's not quite on the beach, beach bar" in kalamaki which did great cocktails and the workers are lovely there! We went there on our first night and loved it!

We stayed in room 406 which was a family room with a double and twin beds. The rooms were both great sizes, had two balconies, kitchen area and clean bathroom with all modern furnishings. They also both had very good air cons in which was needed as it was boiling! The room was perfects for us and was cleaned everyday, only slight negative was the maid came a little early for us around 10/11am. We stayed half board which suited us pretty well as we didn't really need a lunch. The breakfast was pretty much the same everyday but there was a huge choice, from cooked breakfast, toast, cereal, fresh fruit and crossiants! Again the only small downside was that breakfast was from 8-10am which was sometimes a struggle for us! The evening meal buffets changed every night but there was always 3 choices of meat or fish, a pasta dish and vegetables. Also lots of soups, salads and desserts. The best nights for us was the Italian night with amazing freshly made pizza and the chef cooked carbonara in front of us! But also the Friday Greek night, this night you eat outside and there is the usual buffet but all the meat is freshly cooked on a BBQ. After there was Greek music and dancing for entertainment! Couldn't really fault the facilities of the hotel, the pool was always clean and cool and everyday the sun loungers were put neatly.

We booked our holiday though thomas cook and our rep met us at the hotel when we arrived, straight away we paid him for a weeks worth of events including a day at the water park, a boat trip and a paint party! Laganas it's self at night is lively but would be great for a first girls holiday as it was wild but not magaluf wild! For us the best places were Sizzle, Bar code, Waikiki and best of all CHERRY BAY (but don't bother going before 3am) The paint oarty was also great and probably the busiest place we went!

Would defenitly recommend staying in Meandros Hotel and although it was mainly families staying there we didn't feel out of place being a girl group! The location was perfect for getting to Laganas but far enough away to escape the noise! So sad we had to leave had the best time ever and would 100% go back again!

only just got round to reviewing this hotel, we stayed in june 2013, nice hotel, clean, and well maintained. food was average (although my 13 year old son didn't like anything). the resort itself is quite but if you want nightlife laganas is about 5 mins in a taxi. I think if I got it at the right price we would go back again.
