Been to other Mitsis hotels , but Blue Domes is definately the best, our room was fantastic , loved the choice of places to eat ,lovely place, staff really helpfull ,only downfall was down to overbooking , and had to stay at a different hotel for the first night , we were very disappointed ,management apologised, and offered some compensation, Really enjoyed the rest of the week, will definately go back .

Room Tip: Our room was in a block , to the right of reception , top floor , great sea view,in a quiet position...

This is NOT one of those OTT analytical reviews but just a brief summary of our experience at Mitsis Blue Domes. If you don't want to read all of it I can cut to the chase and just say - "its good . . .go there". But if you want to know more read on.

On the way from the Airport to Blue Domes, the coach stopped at many hotels dropping off guests who were on our flight. At each one, we were getting more and more concerned as they all looked quite shabby. And then thankfully, the last stop - we were at Blue Domes and the quality hits you smack in the face. The quality of the reception lobby extends throughout the whole complex and into the accommodation. Its stylish and contemporary and just a very calm and relaxed atmosphere throughout.

We were a family of 4 sharing a 'one' bedroomed apartment which sounds quite cramped - but the room was spacious and beds were comfy. The staff kept the room really clean and tidy and did amazing towel sculptures to surprise us on our return each evening ! Room was well equipped . . .good TV / Internet connection (with cable so take one) and very nice bath and shower. Cold drinks were replaced from the fridge each day. Only gripe was that if you are on the ground floor, you can hear some footsteps in the room above. Not so bad if you have a 7 stone ballerina above you - not so good if its a 20 stone rugby player on heat.

The main restaurant had a good wide choice of food and the staff always attentive. As mentioned previously, there are families with kids staying at Blue Domes and it can be a bit noisy. But if you can resist going to the restaurant until a bit later (say 7-8pm) then most of the smaller kids have been fed, watered and area out of there. The speciality restaurants are a bit of a pain to book and in fact we gave up. . . .but didn't feel we'd missed out as the main restaurant food really covered most bases.

What was really great were the smaller snack bars in the main centre of the pool complex. During the day (10am - midnight) you can have a range of burgers, crepes, pastries, ice cream etc and the staff are just fantastic. A quick hello to Anna-Maria from the Crepe bar who suffered my constant craving for Nutella crepes at all hours.

To burn the Crepes off I was going to the 'very' small gym in the Spa of the Hotel. You can book your own free half-hour session but don't expect Gold's Gym - its just a small room with a cross-skier machine and a few free weights. However, its great to cool down in there during the hot afternoon sun and if you want to spend a bit of cash and relax , they have all of the Spa treatments as well.

Entertainment is a bit home grown. A mix of Amateur-Dramatics with a Disney soundtrack - sounds weird - and is weird. For kids, its OK but its certainly one area that they could perhaps improve for the adult audience.

The pool arrangements are great. Each set of accommodation has its own pool area though you are free to go and use any pool. They are cleaned every day and aside from a few missing mosaic tiles - its all good and set in perfectly manicured grounds. The beach is a few minutes walk. Its a shingle beach and is red hot on the feet by late morning. A good range of watersports on offer though you have to pay unless you just want a pedalo for 30 mins - which is free.

Do go on a few trips out as staying in the Hotel full time can send you stir crazy. We went to Kos on the shopping trip and to the Island of Nisoros to walk in a Volcano base that smelt of bad eggs. The local Town of Kardamena is small but OK for a quick shop and bit to eat. There are a few nightclubs though my wife wouldn't let me go.

The hotel has a good mix of Nationalities staying there and the red faced, beered up, tattooed Brits are quite rare.

I would say it exceeded our expectations and is probably the best all-inclsive Hotel we have stayed at. Would we go back ? Yes.

My friend and i spent a lovely week here in the begining of may 2011. The hotel was very clean , well situated for the beach, even if still a little bit cold , as the begining o the season. Each one of the bars and restaurant had nice, friendly staff serving and nothing seamed to be too much trouble. In fact we are thinking o booking again for this year . If you need a relaxing holiday this is the one for you.

Upon arrival at the airport in Kos, we decided to take a taxi to the hotel which cost us €22 - within 10 minutes we were greeted with a smile at the Blue Domes Resort - thank you Triantafylos and Tatiana for a great welcome! Prior to our departure, I had read a lot of negative reviews and was very worried what to expect. Please pay no attention to the negative reviews, you will love your stay here and we still have 2 days to go! I felt that I had to write this review to put a few things in perspective after reading the negative comments from other vacationers.

Upon arrival, the receptionist greeted us with a smile and was extremely helpful in explaining the layout of the hotel. I had sent an email in advance of our arrival to request a ground floor room close to the main building with access to a sharing pool WHICH is EXACTLY what we got! What a pleasant surprise to the start of our trip when we entered our ground floor room and saw a beautiful blue pool right outside! We are in room 203 which is large enough for 3 beds (myself, husband and 6 year old). The room has been kept super clean and has everything we need, with a stocked mini-bar each day and a small bottle of wine with fruit on arrival.

Our 6 year old, Tommy, has had a fantastic stay at the mini-club and much to our surprise, he even stayed on his own (for the first time) while we relaxed on the sun beds available in the garden of the mini-club. Get there early at 10:00 when it opens to get an area in the shade, there are only 3 parasols and one other area which is covered. The rest is garden area in the sun. Karen and her team at the mini-club are the best that we have ever experienced and we have travelled the world with our little boy. They really care about the kids, keep them entertained, remember their names and really seem to enjoy their jobs. A special mention to Ania and Hanna at the mini-club who Tommy has been following around (love at first sight :-) - their smiles from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm are a pleasure! These girls not only have to put up with a zillion screaming children each and every day, but when the guests go to lunch, you can see them cleaning up the garbage cans, moping the floors inside & out...the list goes on. They have a carousel which Tommy loved going on after dinner and they have popcorn or cotton candy every evening as a treat for the kids! Just because of this mini-club, we will be back for a 2nd vacation at the Blue Domes! Fantastic job and hats off to all the staff under Karen's supervision!!

The food has been good so far, we've really enjoyed the burger restaurant and getting ice cream at the pastry corner. The variety is good at the main restaurant, you will always find something that you will like! To be honest, it's not the best that we've had in terms of variety (although quality is excellent) but there is enough to please everyone. From previous reviews, you will not miss the very smiling lady at the omelette station!

I personally did not like the German restaurant, loved the sushi place though!! The system that they have to book the specialty restaurants is not efficient at all, we were not able to book one single evening. This really has to be my only complaint. We tried in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening and were not able to book a table for 3 at any of the restaurants during our entire stay so far. If they would only put in place a more personal system, where you book your restaurants with a staff member for your entire vacation (like all other hotels we've been to) instead of having one computer available for all guests, that would be a big improvement. Here you can only book for the next day and obviously those who stay up late or get up very early will have taken all the space available.

WIFI is give and take...the best place we have found for wifi and where I am writing this right now is just below the bar (take the stairs down all the way to the first pool....where you will certainly see others with their phones and iPads...). In the room, the wifi depends on the time of day.

Another big surprise for us was the beach, super clean, sun beds always available and lots of fish to see! We loved it....be careful though, the beach is a pebble beach which get very hot during the day - bring your flip-flops!

All in all, we are having a very relaxing vacation and will be sad to go home!

For all those who have complained, stop your moaning - go to the reception and they will sort out whatever your problem is! If you are expecting a 6* vacation, then be ready to pay the min. of €10,000 for the week.....you get what you pay for! Please remember that you also are not in a smiling mood each day....give these people who work 12 hr. days a break! They are working very hard to give you a wonderful vacation which is exactly what we have gotten.

Thank you Mitsis Blue Domes, we'll be back!!!

I started writing this review as I wait to depart the Mitsis Blue Dome hotel. To be honest I'm glad to be leaving and get some peace and quiet. I'll give my own opinion and some accurate facts on this hotel soon. The one thing I want to point out immediately to anyone reading this review is that this hotel is full of kids. If you want a relaxing quite holiday then this is not the place as the aforementioned kids run around screaming or having tantrums. TA reviews say it's good for couples (based on the couples count stats). I beg to differ. This is a family orientated hotel.
Ok, now that you understand this i'll continue...

Food
Hit and miss. The main buffet is very repetitive and limited. Food is luke warm unless from the chefs who cook 4 fresh mains. These are usually good, but there's nothing hot to go with them. Deserts I found poor. Also chaos as well. Tip: There's a pizza place at the back of this restaurant outside. Found this on day 6. Shorts that cover knees ok on a night. Speciality restaurants are good. Italian and Mexican where very good and the 1hr 15 was per stay is more than enough time and never felt rushed (unlike some other reviews who stated this) The other places to eat include Sushi (never tried), Burger Corner (disappointed. Burgers are NOT beef, maybe veal?), pita corner (ok), Ouzeri (never tried), German food place who's name escaped me and pasteria place which severs good crepes.

Drinks

Beer good and spirits also good. Soft drinks are hit and miss. Sometimes good and other times flat.

Rooms

very nice. good beds and well dressed. Bathroom could be cleaner, with some mould issues. Fridge refilled daily.

Pools

Far too many. A lot for show and not use. Also many are falling apart with the mosaic tiles falling off. Not enough loungers and the no reservation rule may not exist as its not enforced. 20 euro deposit for towels.

Beach

Shingle that's hotter than the sun. Take shoes. Sea is crystal clear and great for swimming in. Loungers freely available most of the time. Bar there as well.

Staff and Guests

Contrary to some reviews, the staff were very pleasant. Odd misery here and there but on the whole, excellent. Other guests are mainly Russian (I think it's a Russian hotel). Few brits, French and Germans.

Entertainment

oh dear. Choice of a guy playing bad music in the main bar on his keyboard or productions aimed at kids in the theatre. We tolerated this a few nights and went into Kardamena other nights,.

Kardamena

Felt like early May. It was very quiet and lacked any holiday atmosphere. Get bus in for 1.60 and taxi back for 10 euro.

Steps

This hotel has a lot of steps. I've added a photo of the steps and bank that takes you from the living areas to the main restaurant. Its hard work, and during the day, the heat reflects off the massive whitewashed walls and it's like walking up steps while being in an oven. If you have mobility issues then be aware of this. How those with buggies managed I don't know.

Summary

This hotel looks great on paper and the reviews on TA must be from family guests as it's a family hotel. Lots of kids here and they run riot at times. If you are a couple then I cannot recommend this hotel. If you're a family then it may be ok if priced right. Food is average, drinks are good, entertainment for adults is non-existent. Will I return - No way!

Room Tip: Pizza counter in main restaurant is outside Request gold buggy to take you from reception to beach...

Day 3 of our 2 week holiday and first impressions are very nice.

I've read loads of reviews before coming and on the whole they are all fairly accurate.

- staff are friendly - treat them the way you'd want to be treated yourself and everyone is friendly back.
- we have one six years old daughter and all she wants to do is play with friends at the mini club. They all seem really nice and eye security is good as well - something you don't always get.
- We've got a family room and its 5* quality
- food in the main restaurant is great - plenty of choice and for those who can't find anything you're not looking hard enough
- international drinks advertised - not a chance and I've asked in all of the bars.
- plastic cups - not an issue - I get that with having a young child

Summary - think we are going to have a lovely time - definitely not 5* but it is a good 4* with good rooms, great location/facilities and good food. White wine fine, beer fine but only the brave will drink the rose!!
