“Amazing place, great snorkelling, lovely food.”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

Just returned back from the Blue Domes which we visited during the October half term with four kids! Originally booked into the Mitsis Family Village through Expedia but on arrival at the airport the taxi driver told us it had closed for the winter and everyone was transferred to the Blue Domes. From what we could see of the Family Village during our stay (Family Village is next complex along the beach), we think we got the better deal! Blue Domes is 5* whereas Family Village is 4* and it really looks significantly better. Rooms are lovely, we had the larger family rooms which are enormous and come with a mezzanine floor and en-suite on both upper and lower floors. Cleaned every day and towels changed. We also had flowers in the room and petals sprinkled over the beds which the kids thought was great.
Blue Domes is all inclusive and the main restaurant does buffet meals at set times. Loads of choice and really good food, from salads to soup to pies to chips and grilled stuff as well as fresh fruit and cake. There are also 6 smaller 'open all day' restaurants serving crepes, sushi, burgers, sausages, wraps etc. Or alternatively, you could book one of the four restaurants down on the beach for a posh evening meal - traditional Greek, Asian, Mexican or Italian. We tried most places and all were great. Only complaint I heard was from a couple who couldn't get orange juice from the buffet at lunch time, but this may be because it was the hotels last day before closing for the Winter. There was OJ available at the bars.
The hotel beach was lovely, with a drinks hut serving coffee, tea, lager and shorts/cocktails, plus a few sandwiches and rolls. Water was amazingly clear and within a very short distance from the beach there were large rocks underwater that hosted thousands of fish which swam all about you as soon as you were in knee deep! Take your snorkel and mask or buy it for about 7 euro from Kardamena which is about an hours pleasant walk away along the very quiet beach road. Local buses stop at the hotel reception also.
We went to Kos town by coach from the Hotel whilst we were there, 8 euro adults, 4 euros for the kids. A great day out, lovely harbour and the fort is brilliant.
Also went from Kardamena to the volcano by boat and then bus which cost 80 euro all in after a bit of haggling with the tour operator in Kardamena. Well worth a trip.
Considering we went at end of October, the weather was excellent, over 20C most days and sunny every day. All in all, a great holiday and no complaints whatsoever.

Have had a great week have both positives and negatives so here goes!

Positives-
-Weather
-Upgraded to maisonette which was amazing!
- comfortable bed
- clean towels daily
- room always spotless
- hotel cleanliness was AMAZING!
-food in all restaurants very high standard
-Animation team amazing made our holiday especially Zuzu ( Aidrian) was particularly good with our 2 year old son.
- nice beach
- always get a lounger on beach
- Good kids club
- amazing evening entertainment for kids ( ur carousel, vids, popcorn machine, face painting, mini disco)
- great mini bar stocked daily
- great decor everywhere
- fantastic spa
- great coffee
- great evening shows by animation team
- great views of mountains and sea
- fitness classes on the beach everyday

Negatives
- all pools freezing! Even kids pool!
- beach Stoney
- drinks typical all inclusive ( lots of crappy cocktails, beer and wine ok though)
- Very hilly ( hard with a push chair!)
- staff sometimes arguing behind beach bar and upper bar in reception
- have to book some restaurants 48 hrs in advance ( get an hour to do this on machine, silly rule! Making it impossible to do)
- quite far from anywhere outside resort although lovely setting in mountains

All in all had a lovely week at The Mitsis Blue Domes our 2 year old really had a great time. The animation team were really great especially Adrian ( Zuzu)

The evening bars lacked good music but the food and cleanliness of the hotel were amazing. Not sure if we would return there as we felt quite cut off from everything and it was quite hilly. Hard with a push hair! But had a great time all the same

We booked last minute and were pretty happy with the Mitsis Domes. Yes service from staff wasn't always great, although listening to the way they were spoken to at times by other guests, I'm not surprised. Food pretty good, lots of choice as explained in other reviews. I imagine the booking system for the a'la carte restaurants is an issue during peak times.

As there seems to be tons of info in the other reviews I'll just say the following:

Taxi from the airport to hotel is €22 and we found this cheaper than transfers
If you get there late go to the crepe place as its the only place guaranteed to serve food til 2am
Mini bar is stocked but not always fully
When we went only bars open were those in main building
Trousers and cardi needed in the evening - very windy
Walk to Kardamena nice, but long, and probably not worth the visit (although we had a nice cocktail in the Garden Bar)
Food best in Italian and Asian restaurants (Italian most generous with the wine)
Beer is nice

Overall, for £500 a week each all inclusive including flights, I don't think you can argue with the Mitsis. But don't expect a true 5* when you're only paying 3* prices

Just returned from a weeks stay at the blue domes the hotel outside area is stunnin.g with great views. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful apart from some of the reception staff .when we arrived abt 11pm 4adults & 4 children we handed in our accommodation vouchers for two superior family rooms we were told they only had one room, after some argument the put six in one room which only slept 4 the 2 of us in a double room for the night, next morning our booking was found but did not get the rooms we booked.we had to request clean towels most days.they advertise bath robes and slippers, never saw any.because we had a late flight home we booked a extra night they tried to throw us out of our rooms after another few hours argument also we had a spare booking itinary with us they honourd it.It mite have been the last week of the season but if they take bookings they should be honoured think they need some lessons in customer relations

Hi I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Blue Domes in Kos. Myself and my 14 year old Daughter stayed here and I have no complaints. Hotel CLEAN, rooms nice and spacious. Staff Very PLEASANT AND HELPFULL. Although the Hotel was due to close there was still daytime and evening activities going on for all. Plenty of room by all the pools, good choice of places to Eat, the main restaurant was open for Breakfast, Lunch and evening meal with a variety of dishes on offer. You could also eat at one of the 6 smaller restaurants- serving Burgers, pancakes, sushi, Greek and German food. there was also the 4 restaurants you could book for which included a Italian, Greek, Mexican and Asia, We visited all of them apart from the Greek one. The bars were open from Morning till night serving soft drinks, alcohol drinks( cocktails included) and coffee and tea. you could hire peddle boats and canoes for free and other water sports were on offer for a charge. Went into Kardemenia but not much going on at this time of the year. A bus service runs from the Hotel to Kos town in a morning and returns at 4-30pm. Can honestly say would take a trip back and if you are looking for a Holiday with everything close at hand then this is a place to go to. Forgot to mention Kids club on site to which Families with younger children were saying was great as there was a pool area for smaller children and activities as well.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 719 which was in the middle of the resort, close to Beach and had a pool in front...
