I just arrived back from this hotel yesterday and went with my mum and younger sister (16yrs). I am 29...

Hotel grounds and pools are as beautiful as the pictures and it is very clean and picturesque.
You cannot argue as to the amount of pools and space there is. Only on the last day did we struggle to find a sunbed, but there were ample on the beach with umbrella's still available. Grounds & Hotel = 5*

The staff are friendly, smiley and very polite. Ieva, Kornillia, Ross & Olga especially, but you actually cannot fault anyone. They are very receptive and help when and where they can. Service - 4/5*

The food isn't great. The quality of the meat is bad for a 5* and there is a lot of ready made, pre packeted food and frozen vegetables heated for dinner. A lot of it is deep friend and is oily, and the meat is gristly. There is a lot of salad choice and the salmon was lovely too. Just would have been nice to have a quality selection for a main course rather than making do. It was a shame as even the breakfast pastries were pre-packeted. Food - 3*

The gym was awful too. Very little equipment in there, no air con and no music. They had a few cardio machines, and a cable machine. No weights, dumbells, or benches. Useless for weight training. Opens 8am - 6pm too, so no late afternoon sessions. Gym - 2*

Drinks - Service was great, and drink quality and menu was good too. You can have anything (inc. champagne, cocktails etc) and they had branded drinks too. Never too long to wait for a drink and table service at the lounge bar at night. Only shame was - there was no drinks available anywhere near the evening entertainment in the amphitheatre. You had to take one with you, and then not have another drink until it was over as you wouldn't walk to and fro for a drink. Drinks - 4/5*

Entertainment - What entertainment? Every night there was a dreary man singing depressing songs or playing theme tunes in the lounge bar or there was a bad butlins show in the amphitheatre. There was a change over of entertainment team on the day we left and hopefully they may have bought more life to the place in the evening. We watched part of there neon light dance show and it was better than the previous nights but still only for an hour max. We turned up for the beach volleyball but no-one showed, not even the rep. Entertainment - 2*

Rooms - Basic but they do the job and cleaning service is good.

Things to do - We hired quad bikes for the day - 20euros each and drove to Paradise Beach. Its something to see and do. You can take some lovely pictures and have an ice cream and takes 30 minutes from the hotel and its an easy journey.

Boat trips are 20euros cheaper in Kardamena town rather than through your reps.

Kardamena Bar street is for the 18-25 year olds, for the older people, you can do some shopping in town, or go for a nice traditional dinner, late night drink along the Marina.

Taxi in to town is 9euros. Last shuttle from the hotel is 9pm, and back at 9.15pm.

Pedalo's are free for 30 mins but you may have to queue as its quite busy - there is no booking system.

Water Park is 10euros for an adult, 7 for a child and 2nd child is free. Its not the most wonderful, but it is something to do, its a bit of fun, the pool is nice, and you may go there for half a day. It is a 3 minute walk from the hotel front.

You have to book your shower room (if you have a late flight) the day before you leave. Check out is at 12pm, and they give you half an hour in the shower room if you have a late flight. They are pretty horrid so take all of your own creams etc as you just get a towel. Its 65euros to keep your room on until 6pm.

Hope this helps. :) x

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view. They are better and give you space outside and easy access to the pools.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for choosing Atlantica Porto Bello Royal and for dedicating part of you time to review your experience with us.

I regret to learning our failure in meeting your expectations during the last stay, and would like to take this occasion to inform you that we are serving fresh and most of them local vegetables, as well as fresh, home made pastries in our hotel.

Our gym is equipped with weights. We have air con as well, which can be used on request, as not all of our guests prefer to work out in the air conditioned room.

I will be sure to pass on your kind words to our working team, especially the one mentioned by name.

We do hope to having the pleasure of welcoming you back again in the future.

With our warmest regards,
Yours sincerely,

The Hotel Management.

We took our 19 year old daughter and 78 year old mother to the Atlantica Porto Bello Royal Hotel for a family holiday. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly reception staff and our luggage was delivered to our rooms. Monica the head receptionist and her staff were always helpful despite a couple of difficulties regarding restaurant bookings and always went the extra mile to resolve our problems.

The hotel is extremely clean and well designed and gives the impression of a five star hotel. Our rooms were comfortable and had well appointed bathrooms.

There are several restaurants a Mediterranean, Greek and main buffet, which are open for lunch. It is ashame the Mediterranean isn’t open for dinner as the sea views are just beautiful! In the evening there is an Italian, Asian and buffet restaurant to choose from. The Asian is typical English Chinese’s food and you have no choice as it is a set menu. The Italian buffet is intimate and freshly prepared pasta dishes are available as well as a buffet of salads and hot dishes, which are excellent. My daughter and I have to have a gluten free diet and the executive chef ensured there was always something for us to eat. The gluten free pasta was the finest we have ever eaten. Nikos the restaurant manager was first-rate and took great care of us and ensured that the chef on duty always knew we were gluten free.

There are three bars serving drinks throughout the day. The drinks are local brands but this does not detract from the flavour and the cocktails are delicious. The bar staff are all friendly and have a smile for you especially Kornelia who is a delight.

There are fourteen pools so there is no feeling of being crowded. The pools are salt water but that did not stop us enjoying them. There are plenty of sun beds around all the pools and on the beach, which is clean and has a shallow swimming area.

As we were of varying ages and it was good to find a hotel that accommodated all our needs and we all agreed that we would most certainly visit again. If you are looking for a relaxed holiday, with good food and drink and five star staff that is value for money than you would not go wrong choosing this hotel. We all agreed that we would happily holiday at the Atlantica Porto Bello Royal Hotel again.

We have recently returned (24th June) from a two week stay at the Atlantica Porto Bello Royal Hotel.
On arrival we were very impressed with the huge lobby and reception area. The check-in was dealt with quickly and a porter soon took us and our cases to the room. We booked a Luxury Suite (room 751) as all the standard rooms were taken. This comprised of a spacious upstairs en-suite bedroom and a balcony, also a downstairs room with a single bed, sofa and a shower room. Apart from using the downstairs room for storage we had no need to use it except to access the safety box which was free of charge. My only criticism was the lack of drawers and wardrobe space in the main bedroom; also we were a bit disappointed that we only had a partial side sea view.
It is a large complex and it took some time to find the best routes to the beach, bars and restaurants. The food was excellent even for people, like us, who do not eat meat but do like fish. There was always a wide variety of food on offer for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main restaurant. The all - inclusive drinks are all good with a varied selection of cocktails. We tried the Italian and Asian restaurants but preferred the main restaurant. We also tried the fish restaurant but it is only open lunchtimes and we prefer to eat in the evenings. It’s a shame it is not open for dinner as it has an amazing panoramic sea view.
There are numerous beautiful swimming pools but unfortunately they are all very salty. Although we did try to use them I’m afraid the salt was so strong it resulted in us experiencing stinging eyes and skin even after showering! This is probably why there were usually hardly any people in them.
There are plenty of sun beds round all the pools and on the beach, which is clean and sandy. The Sea is clean and shallow, but beware of some rocks just as you go into the water. After that it is all sandy.
The whole resort is extremely clean throughout. We noticed the cleaners hosing down every morning outside, and regular cleaning inside.
The staff are really friendly and helpful especially Kornelia and Rositsa in the Lobby bar and Constantina in the main restaurant.
Most evenings we enjoyed listening to Kostas playing a keyboard and singing on the terrace. His Greek music and keyboard skills are exceptional. Strangely there wasn’t any music on the first Saturday night, and only a twenty minute female solo singing spot on the next Saturday, so it was very quiet and we resorted to playing music trivia quizzes on my Kindle Fire instead.
Kardamena is some thirty-five minutes walk away. It is quite a nice walk if there is a sea breeze, if not it does get rather hot. The town has many seafront bars and a nice little harbour. There are also tourist shops and mini-markets. The Hotels runs a courtesy bus several times a day if you do not wish to walk. There is also a local bus service but it appears to be infrequent and unreliable. You may walk for another two miles past Kardamena along a small coast road where there are a couple of bars. There is nothing on the other side of the hotel apart from more hotels.
We hired a car from Kosmos who have a desk in the hotel and toured to almost everywhere of interest on Kos including locations that are not on the excursions i.e the fortress at Antimachia which is the largest fortress on the island, but unfortunately not kept up by the government. This is well worth a visit even so.
Overall this is a very impressive hotel but in our opinion we would rate it four-star because of the very salty water in the swimming pools.

Fantastic resort.. View rooms scenery etc. Only problem is service. The restaurants are mostly buffet except one. Your plates are cleared before your partner has finished as well. With empty glasses you do not get offered a refil in restaurants you have to ask. Waitress service in the balcony.... Waited 10 mins before offered a drink and then another 10 to recieve them quicker to get them at the bar. The food is not great all in all. If you can get I. The Asian restaurant book every night as that is 5 star. The evening entertainment was rubbish. The theatre located just outside the hotel was great... The girls gave a good show to all the heard of songs throughout any country... Then we heard rumours on the site they fired them! The only decent entertainment they had... And quite frankly the new entertainment team were nothing in comparison.. It was enjoyable and a good show to watch after dinner. Half way through our holiday. With all considered with the service I would not class this as a five star resort! Sorry but it is definitely not a 5 star. It's a shame cos it is a beautiful resort and location

Just returned from our annual 2 week holiday, this being our 2nd year visit to this hotel. The staff, food, location of our room(block 600), views absolutely fantastic, a few little tweeks improved from last year but 1 major disappointment, the table tennis table moved inside the beach bar, definitely a bad move!! Not only you have to contend with trying to get your drinks outside without spilling or dropping, but also the kids and their ping pong balls!!!!

We do feel that the clientele compared to last year is below par though. We are just amazed the amount of foreign European families of 2,3,4 kids have over run this hotel making it more like a holiday camp instead of sophisticated hotel. How can they afford to come? I'm sure us Brits have been overpriced as usual. I couldn't afford to take 3 kids here for 2 weeks. Maybe hotel should reconsider what sort of clientele they really would like here, not as refined as last year.

Would so love this to be an adult only hotel, but then would still get masses of European kids coming!!

Again compliments to nicos, George, carina, rositsa and all the other members of staff who go that extra mile. You should be proud of yourselves .

One last note, more should be done to stop guests from beach hotel using facilities at royal. On our last night a group of about 7 lads were freely drinking in pool bar, with wristbands on and nothing was said!!!!! This was not the only time guests from next door visited!! More security needs to be taken!!!
