After reading lots of reviews on this hotel, I was getting quite apprehensive. We arrived quite late at about 11 pm and were taken to our room in the golf buggy, which was handy. We were told we could get crepes from the restaurant which is open until midnight. There was also a few other snacks available.
The room was quite compact, but modern and the bathroom looked brand new.

The hotel has three separate swimming pool areas which are lovely. The hotel grounds are very pretty and well maintained. The beach is shingle and rocky into the sea. The hotel shop is quite large and well priced.

The food was very good and you will never get hungry at this complex. The dinning room does get very busy and one night it took the four of us a while to find a table. The standard of food is excellent and there is loads of choice.

We drank mainly in the bar area where quizzes and bingo took place and my daughter spent a lot of time in the children's playground.

We took a day trip to Paradise beach which is lovely and worth a visit. Kardamena is bigger than I thought with quite a few shops. We eat out here one night and the meal was good value for money. Taxi's cost nine euros from the hotel, but we did get the free coach a couple of times which was a bit of a "every man for himself" experience.

I found Kos to be a lovely island and an added bonus is that this hotel is only fifteen minutes from the airport. The airport itself is tiny and the check in process was very slow.

We stayed at this hotel for 10 days in the middle of July 2014, with our 2 children 10 & 12. On arrival we also found the reception staff very unfriendly & unhelpful (this trait continued throughout our entire stay!)
The room was a family room but very small! There were 3 single beds and a camp bed all pushed together side by side in a long row, there was just enough room to walk from the door, along the end of the beds, to the balcony and that was it! There was air conditioning but the unit faced the first bed which meant the person sleeping at the end of the row melted all night as it wasn't very powerful! The bathroom was ok, but the plug holes were rusty, the wallpaper in the room had worn patches over large areas but was clean enough (although I did have to keep removing odd ants crawling on my bed sheets at night before I got in!)
The beds were the hardest beds I have ever slept in! In fact the concrete floor was more comfortable!!
Good luck getting a sun lounger by the main pool! As these have always been reserved with towels very early in the morning! Even when the people reserving them were out of the hotel for most of the day! They ensured that they had a lounger on there return later in the afternoon! The pools are very salty! My eyes were stinging so bad I couldn't open them after being splashed!
The beach is not sand but fine shingle, and take great care entering the water as there are lots of rocks to navigate on the sea bed! Having said that, the water is the clearest sea that I have ever seen! You can Stand 2 feet in the sea and watch all the beautiful fish swim around you in crystal clear water! Beautiful! A snorkel and mask is a must!
The food was very good, we have no complaints except for the queuing! And locating a table!
The only off putting thing was all the stray cats walking around the dining area!! We even saw one up on the tables that were laid ready to eat!
The main pool bar was sufficient for drinks and the lady that works there in the daytime was lovely! However the blonde lady that started at 5.30pm for the evening was very rude and arrogant!! We avoided this bar in the evening due to her!
In fact all of the staff there seemed to be having a bad day on everyday that ended with a Y!!
The evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss, I wouldn't expect too much! Although the last couple of shows I saw had improved from the beginning of the holiday!
The free mini bus that the hotel provides to visit Kardamena has seen better days! We weren't sure that it was going to make it the few mile trip! The bus only holds 12 people, so ensure you arrive outside the entrance in plenty of time to be able to get on as there are always far more people also waiting! We often called a taxi to take us at a cost of €9.
Overall I would rate this hotel as more of a 3 star not 4 star, the food & grounds were lovely and the weather was hot, so we had a lovely time overall.

Myself, wife and 2 children stayed at Akti beach from 13th July to 23rd July, AI, room 914. The room was quite nice, bathroom was a little small. Smallish balcony but a lovely view of the mountains. Maids weren't too bad, didn't do a great job of sweeping but certainly nothing worth complaining about. Balcony door wouldn't lock at all, didn't worry us too much as we weren't on the ground and we had a safe. Ample storage in room too. Would definitely recommend the air con. Temperatures were easily in the 40's and without the air con I don't think we'd have slept. Air con and tv in each bedroom.

Food in the restaurant was very good. Plenty of choice and always cooked really well. The are different sections throughout the restaurant, Chinese, Italian, grill section. The Chinese was the delicious. All foods cooked in front of you. My son is a very fussy eater and won't even eat a pizza with cheese on it, however this wasn't a problem for the chef when I asked him, he rustled up a pizza for my son to have all to himself. Only grumble I had with the restaurant was the queueing for some foods. Fried eggs and omelettes are cooked on request at breakfast but if you went for this after 8:30am you were guaranteed a 15-20 minute wait for them. We went for an earlier breakfast on a couple of occasions and the queue was minimal. Unfortunately this wasn't the same in the evening for dinner. Regardless of what time you got there, there was always a queue for Chinese and Italian. Again 20 minutes a least. Restaurant staff friendly and tables cleared quickly.

3 pools, main problem was beds and shade as there was simply not enough of either at any pool. Pool areas were clean, pools were a little salty we thought.

Entertainment wasn't brill but then it wasn't rubbish either. You have to remember these are basically young people doing there best, if you're expecting something like the royal variety performance (at any hotel really) then you'll be disappointed. They put a show on each night, singing and dancing. Where they put on the shows is a little strange. It's like a little outdoor theatre, so you can't sit at a table and enjoy your drink, you're basically sitting in a row with everyone. The bar servicing the theatre is very small. There is though another area near the main pool. Here they have quizzes and bingo etc. You can sit at a table here ( unless they've all been taken by huge groups who huddle them altogether..........to just sit at whilst on their phones! ) Bar service here is better.

I read a few reviews before and a lot commented on how moody the reception staff were. Can't say I ever had remotely unhappy person at reception. They were all fine and pleasant.

Beach is rocky. Only went once but took advantage on one of the two free pedalos. Lovely clear water. There is a shop opposite the beach, reasonably priced.

The hotel is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Nothing really that you could have a walk too. Kardamena was closet, hotel do put a free bus on every hour. Nothing special there but nice-ish harbour. Kos town is better, a lot nicer, lovely harbour. Plenty of shops and restaurants. Hotel have bus running to here too, €9/€4 if I remember. Took about 30 mins but I would say the buses used for this trip weren't good. The driver stopped twice on way back to hotel to check engine as it sounded awful.

Not many English at all. Mainly Dutch, Belgian or German. Not a problem for us

Overall a very good hotel, it's 4 star rating is about right.

Returned from Akti 27July 2014. I have to say that the hotel was very clean. Room 852 was lovely. Cleaned and fresh towels every day. Fridge was clean and had tv in both rooms. and was overlooking one of the smaller pools. The maid was lovely and could not do enough to help us. Air conditioning in both rooms was welcomed as it was so hot. 3 pools were lovely although despite the signs guests were placing beach towels on sun beds very early in the morning. The food was great. Something for everyone. English, Chinese, Pizzas freshly made in front of you. Pool side bars were brilliant. Serving snacks, different flavour ice creams, cocktails, beer, wine and cold drinks. All the staff were vey friendly and made us feel welcome. I would recommend this hotel for a family holiday. I hope to return next year.

Room Tip: high level room overlooking the pool are lovely and clean. Recently decorated. With good facilities.

Just came back after a week in Atki and had a really good time, however the hotel does leave a lot to be desired.

Arrived early hours at Atki after a short transfer from the airport, hotel appears very dated and in need of refurbishment. deposit required for tv remote, safety deposit box and a/c remote. Wi-fi is not included but can be purchased at a cost per day/week - don't bother the connection is so slow it's not worth it. Given a bottle of complementary water on arrival. Given a map of the hotel which has been copied so many times is very hard to make anything out, very limited information available on the complex, dining times for snack bars & main restaurant etc. Rooms very basic and in need of a refurb also. Requested a pool view but ended up with a view of the roof of the building below us littered with rubbish. Sink waste stopped working along with problems with the shower head. You have to pay a deposit for the towels for the sunbeds, but were told we could only have 4 towels between 9 of us as they had run out !!..

We were told by one member of staff behind the reception desk that they will not change any of our sterling notes if the date on the note was 2006 or older. This was a big problem as there are no other facilities in the area to change any money, you are in the middle of nowhere. However we asked another person behind the desk 10 minutes later and was told it was not a problem and changed our currency.

The main restaurant was very manic and you struggled at times to find a seat. Food was very repetitive with the menu at breakfast, dinner and evening meal the same every day, they do not change the menu or have theme nights like other A/I hotels. You have to be quick if you want deserts or fruit because once these displays are empty they are not re-filled.

Snack bars serve the same food every day - burgers, chips, kebabs, cucumber and tomatoes - there is nothing else to eat anywhere on the complex outside meal times unless you buy something at the mini market at the beach front. Never seen so many people at an all inclusive resort going to the mini market to buy food and drink !!.. and be warned when they say that the main resturant closes at say for example 2.30pm after lunch, come 2.30 on the dot the lights go out and they start taking the food away, regardless if you are still in there eating or haven't selected your food !!.. The same applies to the snack bars - come 6pm on the dot the shutters come down. All drinks from the snack bars are served in plastic cups (as expected due to pools area) but are the smalliest i have ever seen - to give you an idea it would take two of these to make a half measure and are very flimsy.

Toilets around the two smaller pools are awful - due to the poor light you don't know if the floor is soaked with urine or water and the smell is terrible. The toilets by the main pool have misted glass doors and are open for everyone to see who are using the main pool at the time.

Sewage smells are common as you walk around the complex not sure why but not very nice.

Mini disco doesn't start until 9pm and is aimed at toddlers but this is too late with half sleeping on their parents laps. The main show starts at 10pm - only watched one which was very poor

Overall as 3 families with 9 people we were able to make our own fun and enjoyed the break, but this hotel is definately not what you would expect of a 4 star rating. We have stayed in a few over the years and this is by far the worst and would not recommend this hotel, with facitities, posters, events catered for the Dutch, German and French. Some staff at the hotel are really lovely and helpful but others are very rude and just not bothered or don't want to be there.
