“Akti Beach Club Review”
Reviewed 21 August 2014 via mobile

Returned to UK from the Akti Beach Club on Tuesday night so thought I would write a review of our thoughts on the place - hopefully in a reasoned way that will be useful to other potential visitors.

We travelled as a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids - 13, 7 and 5).

Location: the hotel is about 4kms from Kardamena and in the heat of the day (it was high 30's all the time we were there) it would have been a struggle to walk it for the kids and probably us as well. However, there is a free bus that goes about every hour right through into the evening into Kardamena and the same in the opposite direction. You can also get a daily bus to Kos town (€9 adults, €4 kids) which takes about an hour and this will also drop you off at the main waterpark if you want to go there). It was quite funny to see the driver picking all his mates up and dropping them off as we made the journey to Kos town, which is about 25kms from the hotel.

The Hotel:
This is large complex of apartments basically centred around a main reception and restaurant. There are several pools - adult and kids ones - the entertainment staff centre around the large pool next to the main restaurant so if you like to join in the games go there otherwise go to the other pools and they leave you alone.
The apartment we were in was very clean and modern, 2 bedrooms although one doubles as a lounge, the aircon was good as well. The beds weren't particularly comfortable but no worse than others I have seen in the Med and the balconies are quite small so we didn't bother sitting out. All in all it was a decent apartment. The main thing that bothered us is the fact that you can't put toilet paper down the loos it has to go in a bin at the side..uuggghh!!!

All Inclusive
This is a totally All Inclusive hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served in the main restaurant and I have to say that the choice, variety and freshness of the food was excellent. All the hot food was cooked in front of you and there were specific Grill, Chinese, Italian and Greek sections. Snacks are served at the various pool bars but these are very specific in what they do so you need to decide which stuff you like best. The beer was some local Greek one that I'd never heard of but it was passable and a number of the bars even allowed you use a self service beer pump (there are a couple in the main restaurant as well). Most of the pool bars had self service soft drinks and ice cream with cones. The main restaurant does get very busy especially on an evening and we found it was actually better to go a bit later when it started to quieten down a bit. The queues especially for the Chinese bit could be very long.

The staff work very hard and in the main are very friendly especially the entertainment and reception staff. Some of the bar staff lack a few people skills but not particularly an issue.
There is a show and kids disco every night in the theatre, which is set up like a mini amphitheatre just across from the centre of the complex. The kids disco runs from about 9 to 9:45 and basically does a couple of songs for each nationality there ie English, German, Dutch, French and the odd Italian and Eastern European one.
The main show starts at 10 and varies in quality from absolute rubbish to actually pretty good - always the same people from the entertainment team. They did a Madonna night while we were there which was really good, a Mamma Mia show which was ok and a cabaret night that was one of the worst things I have ever seen in my life!!!

Overall we had a really good week at the Akti Beach Club and I would give it an 8 out of 10

Hope people find this useful.

We stayed at the akti beach club hotel 10.8.14 for 10 days my friend and I and her two children and my son. Would defiantly recommend this hotel, great location, very clean, staff very friendly and food was great. Most of all the animation team were amazing, they all
Work so hard and deserve 10/10 for all their hard work they do to make the guests feel welcome. The evening entertainment was great the kids loved it and so did we, so sad to leave we cried a lot! Would definitely go back again.

We arrived quite late (approx 10pm) but staff were friendly and checked us in quickly. We were then taken by golf cart to our room, which was clean and well presented - before heading off for midnight crepes!

Staff were friendly to us throughout - we never had any problems, and the pools, communal areas, restaurant and rooms were very well maintained. The gardens were beautiful!

The food was excellent - we particularly enjoyed the Chinese dishes and pizza! The ice cream and cocktails were a bonus too.

We spent most of our time at the XPerience pool, and the staff there were particularly lovely and very friendly, and there was a great atmosphere. There are signs saying that sun loungers cannot be reserved, but everyone does - it took us a couple of days to get used to that and put towels out. The hotel beach was very nice - yes it is a shingle beach, but you know what you're getting. There's water activities available too - we hired a jet ski and saw a turtle while we had it out, which was amazing.

Car hire is available in the hotel lobby, and we hired a Jimny and took a drive up the mountains and across to Kos Town. It's only two Euros per person to get in to the castle, which was very good value and great to explore. We'd highly recommend hiring a car while you're there!

Overall, we had a lovely, relaxed holiday and spent many great hours by the pool!

Room Tip: They take a deposit for the air con and tv remote - while we never switched the TV on, the air con w...

We stayed at the Akti Beach 30th July to 6th August 2014. At check-in, the men at the reception desk were very helpful and friendly(even though it was after midnight), taking our bags to the room. I had requested two rooms together and was not disappointed, as we were placed in neighbouring rooms. These were very clean, air conditioning was super, beds were comfortable, mattresses were very clean.
The site was spotlessly tidy, gardens very pretty. A very well presented hotel!
Staff were really friendly always smiling and willing to help. The room cleaners were lovely, so efficient!
The food was fantastic, so much choice. The staff were very polite and the manager was always present, nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend to friends.

My family and i have just got back from the akti beach resort, we stayed 10 days from 3rd to 13 th August a family of 4, we arrived late and was checked in quickly by George and given a complymentry bottle of water, he was very helpful and nice, he got one of the staff to take our cases to our room, 223 a very nice family room with a large balcony overlooking the main pool and a sea view, food was lovely also drinks very good.
After reading some bad reviews before going , i must say we didn't know what to expect,
My family and i had a fantastic holiday and found everyone very nice, met lots of new friends who we will keep in touch with,
The only negatives is the kids club, seemed to be more geared up for every nationality except British but our 2 children aged 10 and 11 weren't bothered, the evening shows mama Mia and grease were good and we enjoyed them.
We went with jet 2 holidays, only saw our rep doug, once the day of the welcome meeting,
we have been away with Thomson and Thomas cook and overall preferred jet 2, so that we have booked jet2 already for next years holiday.
We did a few trips, zia sunset breathtaking well worth doing,
Full special tour of nisyros a must, but do on Sunday with guide mike, he lives on nisyros and knows everything there is to know,
3 island cruise beautiful a relaxing day with BBQ
And kos town, we did all 4 trips through Harriet travel kardemena. For €214 for a family of 4. Fantastic value won't get any cheaper from anywhere.
Overall we had a fantastic holiday,
ignore all bad reviews and see for yourself, you can't please everyone, someone will always complain,
We would defiantly return to the akti beach, loved every minute of it,

We stayed between the 3rd and 10th of August 2014 with our three children aged 17, 11 and 9. We arrived late and met by a friendly chap on reception.

Stayed in room 876 (a two bedroom family room) with a view over the hills and quieter pool, stunning! Could ask for nicer room or views.

ALL the staff were friendly and helpful. Get up early to reserve sunbeds and then go back to bed for an hour...we did and it never failed.

Not sure why some complain that there is not enough seating in the restaurant...maybe they all try to sit at the front as if you go further back there are two other dining rooms? Food was amazing, good quality and plenty of choice... Live cooking stations were great!

Snack provided were fantastic with different snacks being served at different snack bars, cheese and ham toasties at the quieter pool, burgers, kebabs, salad and chips at the experience pool and hotdogs and chips at the beach bar. Ice-creams were not in pots but various flavours in cones that the children can help themselves to. Drinks were good quality too!

We used offshore travel to book trips and did the three island tour (which exceeded all expectations) and went to Zia to watch the sunset...fantastic. Do not book through the reps as they charge a stupid amount for the same thing.

The local village is run down and not worth the visit, we drove through and were shocked. Think Doncaster but less money spent on it on a sunny day. You will see it as you drive from the airport to the hotel, so you can judge it for yourself.

The safe costs 20 euros a week and you do not get this back, however, a 20 euro deposit for the aircon and TV remote which you get back upon check out. If like us you have a return night flight it will be worth you booking a late check out as check out is at 12pm, for 40 euro we kept the room until 6pm and with children this was a bonus. However, you can only register your interest as it cannot be confirmed until 20:00 the night before you leave.

I really have no complaints about the hotel, it is very clean and well maintained, all the staff were polite (even the reception staff) and the food was spot on. It is an international site which is great, sometimes nothing worse than going aboard and only speaking to fellow brits, English is the common language and everyone got on great.

Please ensure you buy beach/swimming shoes as there are lots of slippery rocks going into the sea at the beach area.

Bring tons of suncream to avoid paying the prices there. And do not panic about the lack of info at the airport on your return journey as they call you...no boards or reps past security.

We stayed at the Akti beach club for one week from the 29th July - 5th August. There was me my husband and our two sons 14 & 12. The hotel is multi national. We arrived late at night and the men on the desk were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the day staff,on the main desk, are not as helpful. The younger lady is very nice but the two older ladies are unapproachable and rude. We had an open planned family room. They are basic but met our needs for the week. The beds are actually comfy, I suffer with a bad back but didn't have any problems. It's definitely worth having the air con. The grounds of the hotel are very big and lovely. There is three large pools and four children's pool. The daytime activities are mainly around the main pool near the restaurant, so if you want to relax go to one of the other pools. The animation team are fab, very friendly and they work extremely hard. They were great with our boys who were always entertained ( they met lots of other children their age, about 16 in total, which helped). There are lots of drinks / snack bars around the complex so you never have to cue and can always get a drink. As the hotel is close to the Beach there is even a snack bar there so you don't have to walk back. They will even cook you fresh food there upon request. The food is exceptional, one of the best all inclusive we've been to, with a wide variety. There is four different cooking stations with live cooking - traditional, Chinese, grill and Italian( who cook fresh pizzas- our boys loved it). Each meal time there is fresh food and always something to eat. Even the snacks in between meals are good. They also open the restaurant at 23:00 and do pancakes. The staff in the restaurant are very polite, welcoming and hard working. The manager, in the restaurant, is also brilliant he works as hard as his staff. The only downfall to the restaurant, for me, was the cats. Yes they're wild but I think they should be shooed away from the outside eating area. The maids are lovely and very friendly nothing is a problem. Beds made and clean towels everyday. I would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it.
