Overall holiday was ok but don't go if you don't like ouzo, brandy, wine or beer all inc is meant to mean everything included. We complained and the reception manager thrust a copy of the contract with the holiday provider under our nose and said see its in the small print !!!!! Errr rude! There was no entertainment in the evenings and eventually there was kids club entertainers all the announcements are done in another language so not all the kids can even understand the activities that are going on. The food was ok but same everyday with not much variation not really anything for kids fries etc, not sure I would return when we were leaving we were totally ignored bit like we'd had your money now bugger off !!!

Room Tip: Read the small print

I went to Karda Garden Village (now renamed Asteras Resort) mid June 2012 with my girlfriend. As we had a very limited budget we were over the moon when we got told we could get a deal with an all inclusive 4 star hotel. Unfortunately, it felt much more like a 3 star. We'll start with the positives:

Hotel rooms: I've been to several 4 star hotels before across Europe and the hotel rooms at Asteras Resort really are very nice. The rooms are all very clean and nicely decorated. There is air conditioning in every room, however it is capped at 18°C. This wouldn't be a problem, but the fans aren't the best so it can take an hour or more for a humid room to cool down.

The pool: It's fantastic. It's big with plenty of sunbeds and two small flumes which are good fun - but probably more of a benefit to families with small children. The pool bar is open until 6pm which includes ice cream until 4pm.

The drinks: The only drinks available are beer, white wine, red wine, ouzo and brandy - so there is not a big choice at all. You can get other drinks, but be prepared to pay. Despite the very limited to drinks menu, the bar staff are very good and for the most part friendly. Unlike other all inclusive hotels, the staff are not stingy, if you ask for 6 drinks, you'll probably get all 6 - no questions asked.

The food: One of the main disappointments, The food is extremely limited in selection and by the end of a week it doesn't just become tedious, it becomes repulsive. There is a selection of potatoes, rice and pasta/spaghetti every day for lunch and tea. There are then 3 other hot mains for lunch and tea which is generally chicken in a sauce, beef in a sauce and then something exotic (squid, calamari). Breakfast is boiled eggs in their shells, tomatoes, cheap tasting baked beans and bacon (which is always a bit odd abroad) and then a continental selection (cheese, hams, bread). As well as being limited, there are no labels whatsoever, I was in a big shock one night chewing on what I thought was chicken to see what resembled a tentacle on my plate. Unpleasant, to say the least. The actual quality of food is average. There is also some salad available and a very limited desert stand (usually jelly, 2 choices of fruit and some moose/cream). Also, the chefs don't speak English, so they can't tell you what you're eating either. Don't come to this hotel if you're a fan of good quality food.

Entertainment: Here's the bad news - there isn't any entertainment. When we asked why there wasn't entertainment they said "we're waiting for the Italians to arrive". I have no idea when 'the Italians' will be arriving, but it just shows how much the owners value their British customers.

Location: The bio for this hotel says 'a 10 minute walk'. This is true, but it's a 10 minute walk to the outskirts of Kardamena, there is one beach bar between the hotel and the village - it's a long walk in 30 degree heat. This was a problem as it took a lot of effort to get away from the hotel - and was only really an option in the evenings. Luckily, as explained earlier, the pool was very good.

Kardamena: I'm sure many people reading this review will be wondering how expensive Kardamena is, so I'll add this to the review. To those wondering how the Greek economy will effect your holiday - it's expensive. Exchange rates are quite good at the moment, but you'll pay more in Kos for drinks than you would in the UK (maybe with the exception of central London). An average beer is €4 and a cocktails are generally €7, but we found some as cheap as €5 on the outskirts.Food is similar to the UK, a meal for two with tips and 1 starter to share came to €40. However, the local restaurants are very good (visit Pelagos and Avli).

Kos is a lovely island, albeit expensive at the moment, and Asteras Resort is an average hotel. For those looking for a reasonably priced all inclusive, it's all you could ask for. Those thinking they'll be saving a bit of money by going to this opposed to a different 4 star - you get what you pay for.

Caution is advised! This hotel is now called the Asteras Resort Hotel after changing it's name several times in receny years, it sell's itself as a 4 star.
The hotel building is nice enough and very clean, but a 4 star rating is doubtful at best.

It has two pools, a kiddies pool and the main pool which is a decent size and very well kept. The rooms are okay, nice enough, spacious and air conditioned.

The hotel is all inclusive only and this where the issues start. The food, although well presented is far away from a 4 star quality, in fact we found it really bland and mostly over cooked making it tasteless and often watery. On the third day hoping it might improve and after speaking with the travel representative we decided to eat out as we couldn't face eating there anymore.

During the day by the lovely pool, a badly scratched cd was on a constant loop play and there was only 2 or 3 cd's which became really frustrating and tideous.
The drinks were very limited, lots of soft fizzy drinks, but the wine, red and white can from a pump and were barely drinkable. There was just one lager beer served by pump which was unbranded and tasted watered down.

In the evenings there wasn't any sort of entertainment, not even a cd playing, which made the place seem lifeness and dull. we felt like we were waitng in a airport lounge, only more quiet.

A week there was more than enough, we would give this hotel a score of just 2 out of 10.

Room Tip: Checkthat the room you book is the one you expect and question it if you are not happy with what they give you.

My Wife and I, together with my Sister and her Husband stayed at this hotel for two weeks 2006, All Inclusive, the Hotel was called the Louis Helios Beach. A typical Greek set up, main building and additional accomodation provided in blocks around the grounds. The provision of the additional accomodation has by far out stretched the hotels facilities, the Public Areas, Pool, Dining Room and Bar are too small.

We found the Restaurant and Food very poor, we only had our table set up twice in two weeks, on two occasions the waitress threw the cutlery down the table. We could never get 4 wine glasses the same size or even the same colour, being stored on the Wine dispenser they were always warm.

Food was delivered to the outside Bar Area in the morning, being left for long periods on heaters. Although being covered up, they were displayed under an area of numerous birds nests, the area covered in bird droppings.

Prior to the closing of the All Inclusive Bar Service, the Duty Managers allowed Clients to fill tables with all types of drinks, many of which were still on the tables in the morning having not been consumed.

The very nice walk around the bay in to town was well worth the effort.

Having stayed at the Louis Zante Beach Hotel and the excellent Kerkyra Golf Hotel in Corfu, I am not at all surprised Louis have dropped this Hotel.

Having changed its name, reading the reviews, it would appear the Service remains as poor as ever?

My friend and I booked into the hotel and on arrival at the airport we were told the hotel had overbooked and we were sent (2am in the morning) to a hotel on the other side of the island miles away from the nearest town. Our rep told us that the Karda Garden Village was known for it's overbooking. Therefore cant write a review on the hotel but PLEASE be aware if you book in here please dont trust you will get in. After all, if you pay for your holiday, I think they must overbook knowing there are vacancies on the other side of the island so you end up not getting the holiday you wanted. It's a dirty trick.

Room Tip: I would advise not to go through third agent like Thomas Cook. If you book direct with the hotel, they cannot use a rep on transfer to move you to a different hotel.
