We stayed at this hotel in august 2011 just in high season. First of all i would like to say BIG thanks to hotel management and staff, as not of all even 5star hotel staff so friendly and helpful. Hotel located in very quite area of Kardamena, so very good for families. 2 minutes walk to private beach was a good surprise. Our room was good value for money and also very clean. Breakfast was good also, not all hotel of same level provide breakfast such Kalimera Mare's. Hotel provide FREE Wi-Fi!!! Yes, free, in any room! Was surprised when we receive a cold drink service at the beach, hotel staff often comes to beach and you can place the order for cold drinks, coffee or even some snacks. Very handy when you enjoying the sun and lazy enough to go and buy something yourself. Sun beds and umbrellas provided by hotel to all residents free of charge. You know some hotels charge you 5 euro or so a day!

OK then. And now a bit of downside...

Hotel is too far from any restaurants or shops. Travel to Kardamena town will set you back on 3.60 euro return per person on local bus service and taxi cost you 9 euro one way. To far to walk (about an hour). Hotel don't serve any meals apart of snacks so to get something to eat you will need to go to Kardamena town or order the takeaway (hotel staff was happy to help to ring takeaway and order the food). One more thing which let us down a bit - poll not working. But hotel manager said it will work on next season.

at the end....

Do I wish to come back next time?

Yes, definitely !!!

Surprisingly good and cheap hotel! The staff was friendly and the cleaning was excelent! The breakfast buffet was also very nice with fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissants, bread, spreads...and so on. The only remarkable thing was that the supermarkets was quite far away. The closest one was in an all-inclusive hotel complex 10-15 minutes walk from Kalimera Mare. The other one was approx 5 kilometers away. Otherwise I strongly recomend this hotel in this calm and beach-close area!

Writing this on behalf of my family, I got married in KOS and my dad, aunt, uncle and cousin where booked into this hotel, carrots for breakfast and last nights left over meal, no choice whatsoever, rude staff, obnoxious manager, my cousin requested a meeting and felt intimidated, they lasted 2 days before they paid to move to a different hotel, which was a hundred times better, if I wasnt getting married, they would of flew home, as did a few people staying here at this time!

having stayed at this hotel on more than one occasion I can only say that one should make their own decisions, I always found the staff very curtious and friendly and the owner a guy with a big heart, he just wasnt a very good judge of character when it came to employing management, however if you choose to stay at this hotel and I would advise give it a try, you do not have to mix with the management, just enjoy your stay and make you own judgements.

1. Rooms were not furnished according to catalogue. We missed bedclothes, fridge, TV, on balcony were not chairs, table. Air conditioning was out of order.
In the night there were swarms of mosquitoes and we have all kinds of repellents.
Clean lady didn’t put out the bin.

2. Every day was the same food, one day we have only fish and boiled cauliflower. For breakfast hard bread, once there wasn’t any tea, juice and napkins. Fruits only apples and oranges. Desert was only three rimes from 12 days. 5 days we had instead of meat only bones.
At the pool bar there wasn’t coffee available. Instead of beer only foam.
No child menu (everything fat and spicy).
In the surrounding no shop.

3. Manager of the hotel Costas Maigelis was rude to guest after they asked for elementary food missing (tee, juice...)

BUT very nice nature, beautiful sea and mountains, quiet...

This hotel is the worst hotel | have ever stayed in save yourself and never go here. The manager is rude but the young girls that work there are as helpful as they can be. The food is awful and our little boy lived off of cucumber and out of date bread. I planned to put on weight on holiday especially as we had paid for an all inclusive but in fact during my time at this hell hole I actually lost weight! The room was lovely very spacious and clean, the cleaners were lovely and I agree with the other reviews that the hotel manager could learn a few things from them. When we first arrived we were shown to a twin room which smelt like it had not been used for years. We had actually paid extra for a family room and when we pointed this out we actually got given what we had paid for. We asked for water when we arrived but we were told we had to pay for it! The snacks during the day inculded cake between 4 and 5 and ice creams between 5 and 6! We intentionally paid for an all inclusive so we didnt have to take our little boy in for lunch every day but this was what ended up happening. We had to beg for chips and when these arrived on the worldest smallest plate we had to share them amongst the other guests. When I asked the manager for chips for our little boy he informed me and another parent that they didnt cater for children!!!! (funny when they are down as a family hotel) My parnters phone was stolen but after kicking up a fuss it eventually turnt back up in our room, funny that! The pay phone was broken and we were in the middle of no where so it made it tricky when trying to contact our travel agent to complain. The rep was not very interested and agreed that the hotel was not offering what it was meant to and informed us that it was NOT a 4 star! But he was very helpful in the end and got us some milk for our son. Ther hot plates were broken and they were bringing us re-heated fish! We ended up checking out after 2 and a half days as we could no longer stand it. There was nothing for out son to do as he was the ony child there. There were russians staying in the hotel who seemed very happy but also very rude! I could go on for ever but you wouldnt truly believe how awful this place is unless you experienced it for yourself. The supermarket that you think you are getting has infact never been opened! This hotel has the potential to be lovely as it is a nice size but this is not going to happen with the current manager. The pool broke one day and the water looked really dirty and smelt awful, the workman just left the 20ft drop to under the pool uncovered - this was very unsafe with our little boy running round. We eventually booked into the Akti beach hotel which is a 2 minute walk away and is a wonderful 4 star all incusive - we had a great time here and are all ready looking at returning in September, we couldnt have asked for more. Its just such a shame that our holiday started off so bad but on the positive side we met some wonderful people and in the end enjoyed our 4 and a half days at the Akti beach hotel which we would highly recommend! However we would not recommend the Kalimera Mare Hotel to our worst enemy and in fact the name says it all, it is truly a MARE!.

where do i start , when you read other reviews you think cant be that bad, it was probably worse food poor no choice advertised as 4* (hardly) no entertainment in the evenings,no shuttle bus into kardamena, i dont mind walking but that was a tedious jount, advertised as snacks, thought if miss meal times could live on toasties and that as i was on holiday and didn't really wont to be clock watching (was in the end or should i say day two) sunbeds had no mattresses and where damaged, smell of sewage, pay phone broken no attempt to get it fixed. staff manager miserable, thay should do job reversal with the cleaners as thay seemed happy to see you,it was very dissapointing expensive holiday for me,that so i left one week early ,im afraid its a no from me
