The service was wonderful from bar staff we experienced no ques. Food was delicious pancakes for breakfast are a must. Rooms were so spacious and modern. Maids did a brilliant job and cleaned to perfection. Good sea views make this hotel a relaxing stay. The swimming pool was so clean and very warm. Only ten minutes from airport making this a short transfer. We have travelled five star across the carribean and this is by far the most modern hotel we have stayed in. Only dissapointment was beach towels not being complimentary to use and no bell boy to take us to our room. However lunch was lovely lots of greek fayre available so if you want british food maybe go to pontins. Dinner was varied as theme nights included mexican and chinese. Desserts are baklava, ice cream and lots of fresh fruit. Good selections of teas and soft drinks available. The cocktails are a welcome change from other European resorts as they were not so full of syrup and sweet. Very nice tequila, vodka and rum based drinks. The white wine here is good and so is the beer. Have the ouzo too. Snacks through out the day consist of hot dogs, toasties, popcorn, pastries and cakes. The beach boasts hot clear waters. We ate out in resort on our last evening and it was the third resturant by the beach before you get past the greek residential area on the way into the harbour. Please visit this for a treat nice karafes of red wine and meat dishes. The volcanic trip is good to do so see your rep about booking this and so is Kos town along with the island hopper, cycling and fishing. The entertainers are very good. The resort centre is nice for a break where you also get good Greek coffee and other cocktails.

Room Tip: ask for a pool room if you have kids and sea view for adults.

Overall we had an ok time here but there are too many faults that does NOT make this a 4* (Thomas Cook) or 5* (themselves!). We have been to many places in Europe and a couple in the Caribbean, and believe us this is 3* maximum.

Arrived at 12.30 am to find that we had to lug four suitcases up to our 7th floor room up what can only be described as a small mountain. It was extremely hot and hard work, had our kids not been young teenagers we would have had to make two journeys, not a great first impression!

The room itself was fine but did have a dubious smell, which we think was due to stench pipes going up to the top floors.

Woke up the next morning and had a lovely sea view from the larger than average balcony.

No trouble getting a sun bed because I am an early riser, much later than 9am and you have trouble. Extremely large pool area with plenty of beds and an umbrella to two sun beds so that was great. The not so great thing about the pool area was how incredibly slippery it was, mainly due to slimy dirt being left uncleared. The bridges in particular were lethal and inevitably I slipped very badly one day and hurt my ankle. We saw a few others falling and very many near misses. You also had to queue for your drinks at the bar, which we have done many times at other resorts but again, at a resort claiming to be 4/5* you really shouldn't have to do this. There were loose tiles around the pool area and visible dirt on the tiles/vents around the edges of the pool.

Now for the food, well how many ways can you serve chicken/pork/veal, you will find out here. Its very bland and repetitive in an extremely hot dining room. Just because its open sided does not mean its cool. It does allow birds to fly around though! We ended up using the all inclusive for breakfast, lunch and drinks and ate out every night after the first night. The quality and choice of food certainly does NOT reflect the starring of this place. Europe seems to be way behind the Caribbean on this from our experience.

The location of the hotel to the beach is great, just across a fairly quiet road. Mix of sand and shingle beach with a VERY rocky entrance to the sea. The trick is to try to get in up to your knees and swim from there. This same road will also take you into town, a good 5 minute walk which was ok with two teenage boys but probably not so good with younger children.

Didn't really bother with the entertainment, mainly in German and we have done enough mini discos etc over the years. Entertainment around the pool in the day, English announcements not too easy to understand but its there if you want it. Other peoples reviews have complained about the lack of English here. There were in fact a good few English families staying here, but this didn't bother us in the slightest, if you want to be surrounded by English people, go to Haven or Butlins!

The town of Kardamena is like a tale of two cities! Bar Street great for the youngsters full of very loud bars plus a few quieter ones for an early evening drink, yet the other side of these buildings it the very pretty harbour are with many restaurants, all over looking the harbour. Did not have a bad meal all week, recommended would be Scala and the Chinese Fu King Gou (yes it really was called that!) Very expensive though but worth it!!!!! Go Karts were according to the hubby the best he had been on!

We had discovered that you could request the golf buggy to get you to and from your rooms if you were on a high level so after packing we rang to request this. 20 minutes later we gave up and walked down the very steep slope with our cases, leading us back to full circle from our arrival!

All in all, go here and expect 3* and you won't be disappointed. We did have a great holiday but there were too many niggles that just annoyed us having expected so much more!

Room Tip: Request a low floor. Its a long hot walk to the top!

Was staying at mikri poli for a week. Me & my wife wanted to rent a bike si we asked our rep to help us out. She called sine guy that came out side of our hotel with the bike inside his van. Since our rep told us it was fine to rent from him.. Well let me tell u!! It was not fun at all. The price he gave us was really dear. After renting we saw a rental office in the hotel.. We asked for prices & not only were they cheaper, they were also newer bikes than the crap we got.. Plus our rep made commission on that sale.. The hole situation looked doggy to me.. Look around carefully before you rent, search for prices & don't rent from ur rep cause they make profit from you...

We arrived at the hotel 11pm on a Wednesday nite, we had originally booked the Mikri Poli but upon checking in we got upgraded to the Carda Beach, the sister hotel next door :)) this was better for us as Mikri polis was more for families and children whereas Carda beach was more lively and for young people and couples. It was late when we arrived and was pitch black so the man on reception showed us to our room with a torch!. The room itself was lovely, very clean, modern and spacious, one of the best we've ever stayed in!! We asked the man if we could get any food as we were really hungary by this time after travelling and the evening meal had finished. He said he would see what he could do, when we went down to the all inclusive bar he had two cold plates for us which was really appreciated. The hotel pools were nice and clean the weather was red hot with it being July, it was 46 degrees one day! There is however a constant breeze because of the location and sometimes it can get very windy. Most of the people in the hotel were German, Italian, Dutch e.t.c we only noticed two other couples that were English however it didn't bother us as everyone just keeps themselves 2themselves. On a night time there wasn't any entertainment on and the hotel did lack a bit of an atmosphere so we just made the most of the all inclusive bar and went into Kardamena every nite to party!! It was a 10-15min walk into Kardamena which wasnt to bad. The nightlife was quite dead for being peak season there was two busy nites when bar crawls were on however we still made the most of it! There is a few nice cocktail bars along the harbour front aswell if you want a quieter nite. Overall we had a good holiday the hotel food was very good, the nightlife ok, there isn't much of a beach, the hotel itself modern but quiet. There are livlier places to go however if you just want a nice chill out holiday Kos is the place 4you :-)

Modern hotel, well situated on walking distance from Kardamena. The meals are excellent quality with lots of variety. The rooms are big enough and clean. The pools are great. The staff very friendly. Give them a smile and you get a smile back. Well worth considering going to here.

Now the lesser stuff.....................

Towels you need to pay, safe box you need to pay, after 11 o'clock the drinks need to pay, no bottled water before 7:30 available (bad if you want to go cycling or jogging before the heat).

The beach is not good better to go to paradise beach.

For 60% Germans, 15% Italians, 20% Polish, 5% other. After 2 weeks you've had it with the Germans.

Rent a car for the duration (go to trust rentals), much cheaper and discounts on ferry to Bodrum (16,- for adults). Lido water park is very expensive!

Last but not least................. CASH IS KING cards are not exepted as Greece is in dire straits.

Room Tip: We had a room with seaview meant 98 steps every day!!

We stayed here for the second time, and i still think it is a good place to be.
At the first day off our arrival we didn`t get the room we ordered,it was available the next day.The airco was broke for 2 days but they fixed it as soon as they could(because they waited for some guy from outside the hotel to fix it).The german animation is much worse the the last time, but i actually dont care.
The food is good enough for the time you stay.(wished they had more greek food)
Flora behind the bar is fantastic and so proffesional, i dont understand how she can manage this alone with her everlasting smile. Her co worker ,his name i even dont know,
they should cick him out. He is only busy with chasing women and its very un proffesional. One evening he had a conflict with flora and act like a child.
Vangelis, and the armenian guy and the girl and older women behind the poolbar are some great people .If hope next time that the music will have more variation.
I would like to give the manager from the hotel some really good tips and i shall do that.
The last time i didnt get a reply. I hate the russians, because they think they own the place whit theire f.....g towels every morning before 08.00 0 clock.
For people who wants to make use of the watersports in front of the hotel: think twice...
don`t let your children go alone for some ride on the water because it may end up in the hospital.I am an adult and i served time at the commando`s in the army, but this was heavy stuff.
We had enjoyed our holiday and i know....there are always plusses and minor issues,
but be honest, some things have to be good, and that wasn`t the case this time.
Inspite off that we will come back next year.
jasas. Mike.

I will start by saying the first impressions of the hotel are fantastic, very modern and clean looking. on our arrival (aprox 2am) we were greeted by a member of staff and given a cold platter, and told to help ourselves to a drink if we wanted before finding our room. At that time in the morning it was much appreciated!

It took us a while to find the room because it was at the front of a block, but could have been our sense of direction more than anything!

The room was very modern and clean, however it was more basic than another couples that we saw, as they had the glass walls and flatscreen. not a problem though as it was a family sized room for two. air conditioning is in the rooms as standard and is very effective. I did notice that there were no seals on anything in the bathroom but it still looked very nice, and this dosn't affect anything functionaly. There ware two bottles of water in the fridge waiting too, nice touch.

The pool looked fantastic day/night as did all the communial areas, all the gardens are clean and tidy. bar is very good, and the food is very veried. different dishes every day for lunch/dinner. breakfast is the same but not a problem. included drinks are ok, just budget copys of originals, all work just as well though!

it is a german/itallian resort but really for a week in the sun with good food and drink, for the kind of money you pay it offers good value. at least there were a lack of england shirts. in honesty though the reps from other companys were more than happy to get you involved in activites (soccer, volleyball, polo, that sort of stuff) though and all staff spoke english.

Kardimena itself might be worth a visit for a night but its no ware near as busy as pepole make out, and pretty expensive because of that reputation. the food next door to the hotel is appartently very good, but you need to book at breakfast for the next day!

all in all, good value, food/drink, friendly staff. nice weeks stay.

p.s. check out the beach at night!
