This is the accommodation that we booked to stay in for our holiday in Kardamena, Kos with operator Club 18-30.
When we were on the transfer coach the rep told the people staying at Nikolios that they were to be upgraded as the sister hotel Harriets for free as Harriet’s had empty rooms.
When the guests were told this I asked the rep if we could be moved to Nikolios rooms that were not to be used as the Angelina was advertised as been quite far out from the main strip (I did try to change before I went on holiday but couldn’t get through to anyone who was able to help!!)
Anyway…………………………..upon arrival at the Angelina I was a little shocked as it appeared to be in the middle of nowhere!! We got to our room on the ground floor with pool view to a huge puddle of water and lots of flies flying all over the place! We opted to rest for a few hours before the welcome meeting. Overall the room was typical Greek, basic but pretty clean, the room was small but suffice had it been more central, minus the flies & with some kind of cold air blast from fan or air con!! The accommodation was self catering and you didn’t really get much that would allow you to self cater!! There was enough for 2 people but there was no kettle or toaster and the pan provided has stale food on it and was only the size of a milk pan so not really sufficient for making anything for more than one person or more than a tin of soup!!
At the welcome meeting we spoke to the resort manager who said we could move to the Nikolios at a cost of 50 euros per person, we were happy to pay this to move to a more central location.
Overall the appearance of the Angelina was ok, although it’s never as good as it looks on the photos!!
I was so glad that we were lucky enough to move (see Nikolios review) as the room at Angelina had no air con or fan (this wasn’t advertised so it wasn’t as if I was under false hopes!!) and was a fair old walk to the centre.
I wasn’t happy at the distance as with it just being myself and another girl I didn’t feel safe walking to the town as when you leave the hotel you walk on the road side which then becomes main road and after about 15mins you get to the centre, well the start of the centre, another 5mins to the main nightlife!!
It’s a little up-hill on the way back too so after a night on the ale it might be hard work with the hill and crazy mopeds!!
If you stay here you will find the hotelier very friendly, he was upset that we didn’t want to stay but while we knew there were empty rooms elsewhere we thought best to move for our safety.
This hotel would suit people who wish to be away from the nightlife or in a couple, etc as it’s a bit more reserved than a hotel in the centre!
We went in June so it was still pretty quiet in the resort but it was good all the same!
Kardamena is a really nice resort and you will love it, you must go to Crossroads for a slush cocktail, topped off with a haribo cherry sweet on the side of the glass! Just be careful with the PR’s cos they proper do your head in!!! Camelot is nice for food so try there, the Mousakka is lush!!
