Absolutely basical, but very clean little hotel. Breakfast basical, as it can be, but there are a lot of various tavernas with the fat English breakfast in menu around. Not bad location. There's the karaoke bar, working till late night in front off hotel. Be aware of mosquito's – they are really cruel :)

We chose Kardamena because it's right in the middle of Kos Island, so it was easy to visit both ends of the Island in short trips. We chose the Andavis because we had first-hand information from people who had stayed there and we were not disappointed. The hotel is simple, clean, hospitable, and well run by an admirable Nikos. Breakfast was healthy (no fried eggs and sausages!) and abundant. The only "problem" are the young kids who go to Kos to get drunk and be generally obnoxious, and neither Nikos nor ourselves can put up with this for long. The pool across the street was a plus, as were the beach towels and extra room amenities that Nikos provided us with. The prices are decent and it's only a 5-minute walk to the beach. For longer hikes (if you don't have wheels), the bus stop is just around the corner. We stayed 3 weeks and felt as if it was home.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, depending on who your neighbours are...

Hotel was clean, in a good location and was good enough for what we needed at the price. On arrival the owner was friendly enough, however his later behaviour made us feel uncomfortable and unsafe in the hotel, almost ruining the end of our stay.

In response to the previous review, we were subject to the shouting of Nikos, we might be in the 18-25 category, but we were by no means rowdy, we always made sure we were quiet coming in and out, and were always polite when we saw him. Near the end of our stay puddles appeared in our room whilst using the shower, though they weren't connected to the bathroom and seemed to come from no where. Worried there was a problem with drainage we went to find Nikos for help, but he simply screamed at us in Greek, throwing a dirty mop at us and saying if we didn't clean it up we'd have to pay. As 3 young girls we were really intimated and had to use our towels to clear up the water, which smelt and was clearly the product of a dodgy drainage system. He came back to check and continued shouting, saying we were constantly leaving the taps on all day which was why the room flooded and he would be watching us. We never left the taps on at any point, why would we? When the room flooded a lot of our stuff was ruined and we aren't stupid. He refused to listen to anything we said, even though we never shouted and remained polite and calm. However, everything seemed resolved, though Nikos didn't clean our room again, empty the bins or replace the towels.

On returning to the hotel on our last night, Nikos shouted at us that when we checked out in the morning we would have to give him money, because he had checked and we had left our taps on all day again, and we needed to pay him for the water we'd wasted. We never left the taps on!! He was so unreasonable and aggressive we were actually worried about staying in the hotel for our last night and considered leaving there and then. After calling our travel company early the next day to alert them, they dealt with the situation and said he had no right to demand more money, and when we left it was quite clear he'd been reprimanded by them as he said virtually nothing.

Having visited the pool and bar of the nearby Lydia apartments, we met such a lovely owner there who made us feel so welcome, we wished we'd stayed there with a much friendlier hotel owner instead! Staff at the Agrelli hotel over the road were also really lovely and welcoming, and helped us the first time when Nikos was screaming at us in Greek and we couldn't understand what he was saying. Plenty of other cheap better places to stay in Kardamena than here.

For 4 days on my own for some peace and quiet on the Island of Kos, Andavis hotel was fine. Yes it was a very basic hotel but it was clean, the bed was comfy and it was a safe 5 mins walk into town.

Nikos, the owner, should be commended for his seemingly single handed running of the place. From 6am gardening, to serving breakfast (I do understand it was basic, however I ate out) to his cleaning the rooms. He must be the wrong side of 70 and did his utmost to ensure everything ran smoothly. I too heard his shouting, however this was aimed at some young people who were rowdy and obviously in Kardamena for the party scene. If that is you there are plenty of cheap hotels aimed at the 18-25's throughout the town. If you want somewhere to lay your head and respect the little hotel that Nikos runs, then come here.

The room was plenty big enough for 1, the bathroom very basic but the shower was fine. It had a fridge and tv, and you could pay extra for air con, however I left the balcony glass door open all night, shut and locked the shutter and was plenty cool enough! The balcony is very small and I had a view over Pavlos Bar which seemed to attract middle aged couple and families for their 10-12pm karaoke sessions. It did get a bit noisy but was also entertaining coming in at 12ish, hearing the random song selection and always out of tune!

When we arrived the guy had no idea we had an infant with us, said he doesn't allow babies in there but afterwards gave us a travel cot. The breakfast was just 2 slices of bread with jam and butter, a tea or coffee and a glass of squash! I booked this place because I thought I was getting a good deal with breakfast thrown in but its really not worth it. then we brought a fan to the apartment and the guy said we wasn't allowed it because it will cost him money and said we have to pay 1 euro a day (although he forgot) the cheek of him, we paid to stay so we pay for the use of everything in there! The apartments were very clean, we had clean towels and sheets most days, the guy who owns them is a nice enough bloke although he has his moments, doesn't like noise at all as we heard him shouting at people a few times. The apartments them self were nice although I think there are better places around and better prices. enjoyed my stay though.

i went on a girly holiday to kos in june 2012, hotel needs updating, but we had good time there(kardamena), hotel for me is a place to sleep , have shower and keep you stuff. thats all i need and all i got. so if you think like me and don't want to spend too much money thats a good place. A hotel owner has his strong opinion. but he's no harm. rooms where cleaned, towels changed. it's not too far from main town center, close to the beach , and still in a good area if you want to have a good nights sleep. wasn't impressed with breakfast, but they served up to 9am, and most of times we were still asleep.

This is very basic accomadation has we found out in 2009 there is no bar has it says on the listing and there is no pool you have to use the pool across the road not great if you have children. not much to say really needs updating ok for a young group on a budget spending most time out. better options available for the same money or less.
