“Bargain!”
Reviewed 19 October 2009

Myself and my partner stayed at the Kris Mari for a week as we got a cheap deal off the internet. We found the hotel fine, rooms were adequate nothing special but clean. The pool was a nice size but did look a bit dirty. As it was very late in the season it was easy to get a sunbed which were really comfy. We were slightly annoyed that we couldn't drink water round the pool that we hadn't brought from the pool bar, as we found it to be expensive. The location was good within easy walking distance to bars but not too close.
The beach is a couple of minutes walk and it was really nice. We ate lunch everyday at The ElGreco restaurant which was good value we also ate breakfast there as the hotel breakfast was really not worth bothering with!
I would highly recomend the Manos restaurant which is also on the beach front. The food was out of this world and really cheap. The beef stifado was amazing. The owners were so friendly and i wish i had eaten there every night. We also tried Captains on the harbour but found the food well below average and pricey. The weather was nice for october although we had a few cloudy days.
To sum up the hotel is fine for a cheap week in the sun its no frills but its all you need. Kardamena was nice althougth very quiet due to time of year. The locals all seem very friendly and i would defintely visit to Kos again.

I stayed at this hotel at the end of august for a week with my boyfriend.
The hotel staff were all lovey & friendly. The rooms were fairly basic but nice. They were cleaned everyday & you are provided with a 'do not disturb' sign for your door if you want a lie in & not be disturbed by the cleaners (they usually came about 10am) The bathroom has a hairdryer fitted but it is at a very low heat & force, so I would recommend you take your own!

I would not rate the breakfast at the hotel, to say is was basic is an understatement. There was 2 types of cereal, brown or white bread, portions of jam and cheese and that was it. The juice provided was extrememly diluted diluting juice! We went once for breakfast, once was enough! We preferred to have breakfast at one of the seafront restaurants which are a 2 minute walk from the hotel.

The pool area is clean & tidy, with a fair amount of sunloungers although some of them were quite old. The pool bar is very reasonable & handy for a quick snack in the afternoon.
There is a bar inside the hotel with plenty seating & a large television screen.
There is always someone on reception. One night I somehow managed to take our patio door off the runners, so in the morning i went down to reception to report it & somebody came to fix it straight away.

Overall this is a nice hotel to stay in, there is a nice atmosphere and everyone is friendly. Although some aspects are a little basic it did not spoil my holiday & I would gladly return to this hotel, though not bed & breakfast.

The Kris Mari is a smart well presented hotel from the outside and the reception area.
Some plus and minus points:
+ a lovely looking hotel
+ situated in the quieter end of Kardamena away from noisey Bar street
+ nice pool and pool area

- Rooms are in bad need of refurbishment
- Tiny portable TV only showing 2 channels (Sky news & BBC world news)
- Stayed for 7 days & the sheets were not changed once
- had breakfast in our room on the first day, the dirty plates were still there on the last day
- rooms not cleaned properly, pubic hair on the bathroom floor when we arrived
- air conditioning did not work properly
- had to pay 10 euros for use of safe
- breakfast is totally inedible probably the worst breakfast I have ever tried
- hotel staff not rude but not really friendly
- the hotel is open plan, so we were kept awake by very noisey people in the bar at 2am
- public toilets in the reception area dirty and in need of a refurb
- on one occasion our beds were not even made
- unless you have a pool view room the outlook is very bad
- asked for a pool view room when booked, but when we arrived were told that they were full so had to settle for a different room
- radio in room did not work
- shower curtain dirty

I would go back to Kardamena again but I would not stay at the Kris Mari, Silver beach is a nice quiet beach with lovely clear water. We used the Sunbeam cafe run by Andreas, a very friendly man, Sunbeam also let rooms with fantastic sea views. We used Scala taverna for breakfast, they are very expensive but the breakfast was superior to any others. the Avli is a fantastic place to eat, a very traditional Taverna in a lovely setting. We also ate at Nemo's, we found the food good and very reasonable prices. The Garden bar is a lovely place to have a drink. If you are going to do a trip to Turkey, make sure you go to Bodrum and not Turgutreis.

me and my partner booked the holiday at a bed and breakfast board. breakfast wasnt too satisfying, with only a continental ( which we hadnt been informed ) breakfast; with the choice of bread for toast, buns, cheese and ham and three different cereal. Tea coffee and orange juice. Bit of a shock as we were looking foward to bacon, sausage egg and beans! but of course all the resturants around Kardemena offer a english breakfast at around four euro. We were pleased with the hotel greatly. it was very clean, staff friendly, pool clean, not to far away from everything and also have a sister hotel 'Cleopatra' in which you can use at any time, or the gym and sometimes the Krismari's could become very busy at times, although towards the end, it went quieter, so we were assuming alot has gone home. A mixed hotel with both young and elderly, never has no problems with noise or anthing really, just a few noisy lads below us.
The area Kardemena i is thriving with livliness. walking on the main front, there is a huge choice of resturants to eat in, bit of pain sometimes, as they dont leave you to decide Ha, though they also have a Mcdonalds towards the top of the front, although we found this ridiculous price, as the meals were around 7.50 euro!! also on the front they have the watersports jet skis, bannana boats everything! but we found it was cheaper on bubble beach (natural jacuzzi sea) There are lots of places to hire cars, jeeps, quads and buggies from, which is worth doing as we hired a buggy for 2days 90euro and a quad for a day 35euro and went around all the island. Thermas is a nice place to visit, with hot springs to bathe in a the cold sea write next to it, kefalos was nice too, and Kos town we visited but bit pricey as it is the capital. The beaches to visit are magic beach and bubble beach. vey pretty beach although magic beach as a Nude part if you walk right to the top!
As for excursions, we booked for the waterpark off our Thompson rep which was 28euro each, looking aorund the places the had the waterpark with transfer for 19euro so got ripped off there. The three bay cruise was a nice little trip, going to bubble beach (beautiful!) kefalos and getting off to swim in the sea, with your bbq included 20 euro each. good day out and a nice relax.
Places to eat in Kardemena - Tonys cuisin,Nemos Resturant, Taj mahal (very expensive though).
If you dont want to stay out all night drinking, then stay down the bottem end but the top end i warn you is mad with bars galore, but it totally is your choice where to go. adams bar is nice with every cocktail 3euro.
Overall had a fantastic holiday (the buggy and quad made the difference!) with plenty to do and excellent weather beautiful sights and plenty to eat and drink! Book now if you find a Bargain!

As always not disappointed with accommodation. It was what we expected. Now in the hands of the Cleopatra group hopefully it is scheduled for upgrade. The rooms are clean and functional, linens are changed daily. The WC and shower cubicle are desperate for upgrade, although clean the idea of the curtain is so out of date! The staff are friendly and helpful. The drinks are not over-priced and the pool is lovely and clean with spare lilos for pool use (left by previous holiday guests). Breakfast is of a continental style without the meat and cheese except for Tuesdays! With upgraded showers and in house entertainment you will of course pay more. For us the location was fine on the edge of Kardamena near the beach and away from the hectic nightlife.
