Decent hotel , however bathrooms very smelly and covered in ants, after a good clean though they are ok. Pool is very nice and the beach is about a 30 second walk, restaurants around the apartments are ok, nothing special but do the job. If you're after a cheap and basic holiday it's ideal. Apartment is big for 2. Could easily fit 4/5 in.

Just back from a 2 week holiday in Cala Blanca (30 June to 14 July - 2 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 7). Arrived at 9pm on a Saturday, called the number on the board (there is no reception desk or staff here so you do need access to a phone) and were directed to our apartment with no problems. The apartments were clean and well maintained, with an electric kettle and toaster. 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, plus living area/dining kitchen. Kitchen has a 2 ring electric hob for cooking. We were in one of the ground floor apartments which had a patio area with plastic chairs and table. Towels were provided and changed regularly, as was the bed linen. There is a small (clean) adequate pool with sunbeds provided. The apartments are situated 30 seconds walk from the beach and restaurants, which was great for us with 2 kids, and there is a supermarket just behind the property. A 10 minute walk took you to the commercial centre, where there are more restaurants and bars, plus a couple more supermarkets. There is a regular bus service from just outside the apartments and this takes you direct to Ciutadella for 1.55 euros each (also stops at a few of the beach resorts on the way if you want a change of scenery ie Santandria). We booked independently and used Menorca Airport Transfers for an excellent service. Only downside was the lack of air con and noise from the bar behind the property. If you want a no frills, great quality, good value holiday, then this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor apartment if possible.

Stayed at these appartments october half term. What can I say, for the price we paid it was great. Situated next to the beach just across a quiet road. It was a 2 bedroom appartment with 1 bathroom and 1 on suite. Rooms are basic but had clean towels and bedding at least twice in the week we were there. Unfortunately due to the time of year not much was open which was a problem when we could'nt find anywhere selling water or milk! (summer time I can imagine it to be fantastic). We went on the bus to cuitadella a couple of times and stocked up on essentials. The weather was great the whole week, apart from heavy rain late one night and a few spit spots one tea time. If the price was right we would'nt hesitate staying here again but preferably during summer when its more lively.

We were there 16th Oct to 23 Oct. At this time of year most places are closed.

The apartments are basic, no TV but two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and kitchen/living area.
The block of apartments is right on the beach so if that's your thing you can't go far wrong.

There is some confusion with reviews as there are some reviews that are not for the apartments cala blanca. There is no reception here, it is a block of apartments, there is a pool but that is it in terms of facilities.

Before you go make note of the international dialling code for Spain; as others have noted the number you have to ring when you get there (on the notice board) won't work from UK mobiles unless you use the dialling code which is not listed on the board. It will be a short phone call, they will simply tell you which apartment you are in and where the key is (probably in the door)

When we went it was very, very quiet which I loved. There was a Spanish bar open situated right behind the apartments which was reasonably priced. The tapas was good (the pizza was not).

The bar/restaurant on the beach was also open (was due to close at then end of the week)

If you've looked at google street maps you'll note there is a spar behind the apartments; this is no longer there. We arrived on Sunday with no food and no idea where to get any.

In fact there was only one supermarket open, Julia's (there is a map by the beach) it's a 5-10 minute walk. There was also a few other bar/restaurants open around there too.

Julia's stocks some english brands and has english newspapers as well as alcohol ;-)

The Irish bar near Julia's is a nice place (it will be mainly spanish customers at this time of year). It has comfortable outdoor seating, friendly service and a great sea view. I don't think they do food though.

There is a Chinese restaurant near the apartments but I didn't like the food there at all.

At night you could here a pin drop and it was really really dark. But you felt perfectly safe since there were not many people around anyway.

If you need a bit more excitement you can go into Ciutadella. You could walk it but for 1.50 on the bus you may as well do that, it's only about a two minute journey. I went during the day and it was busy, I didn't sample the night life though. If you have a smoker in your party then this is where you will need to go to buy some but some bars have machines.

Most of the people in the immediate area were spanish but in Ciutadella there were a large number of English tourists.

If you don't plan on spending your evening in a bar then take some entertainment with you.

If you want peace and quiet then I would recommend going at this time of year. I had a very relaxing holiday and the weather was a lot hotter than expected given the forecast before we went.

For the price it was a bargain.

we arrived at 10.30pm and realised there was no reception just a telephone no on the notice board when we tried to call this it did not work so there were 4 adults and a 9 year old stook on the street not knowing what to do, i managed to find a family in an apartment but the were spanish and did not speak english but somehow we managed to communicate that the number did not work and they tried the numbr, after 5 attempts they got through and handed their phone to me, we were told we had two rooms C1 and C8 and the door was open and the keys inside, we thanked the family and we off to the rooms, only to find that there were no C anything but room 1 was occupied and 8 was where the spanish couple were, they phoned the number again for us and we were told actually we had no booking so a lady was sent out to us who put us in a room that stored cleaning equipment it was now 1am and then another lady showed up to say we had to go to club andria 2 mile away in the morning to speak to the staf there and we would then be moved, we went to bed only to be woke 30 mins later covered in ants and we had to sleep on the tiled floor in the sitting room. Next day after a walk 2 miles there and back were were moved to Nuramar hotel in Calan bosch. This hotel was full of people who had also booked with med hotels and had been moved to Nuramar as their hotel had no record of the booking or had overbooked them. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL AND ALL OTHER MED HOTEL ACCOMMODATION

Room Tip: My tip for the best rom is - book a room in another complex

we arrived and there was no reception to tell us where we where staying just a phone number to ring on the noticeboard which my phone wouldn't let me ring. The handyman came and sorted our apartment out, thankfully we didn't arrive in the middle of the night. and luckily he was around as the lovely cleaning lady does not speak english. The food is very expensive to eat out but I can recommend the K & M Bar for food which is great value and very good and Max and his wife are lovely. The beach is great but gets very busy. There is not very much to do in Cala Blanca but if you want a relaxing holiday it's ideal. The apartments are very basic we had no kettle in ours when we arrived but got one day after. The supermarket is quite expensive its their spar there is another up the hill which is slightly cheaper. The apartment was cleaned twice and the beds changed twice in the 10 days we stayed there. There are not very many bars in Cala Blanca and they did not get very busy while we where there. The main town is a bus journey away which the stop is outside the apartments that is also very quiet and the market is not very good.I would not think this would be a very good location for a family with teenagers.

Just back from 2 weeks self catering at the 2 star Cala Blanca Apartments. The accommodation was basic but very comfortable. My boyfriend and I booked thinking it was just a one bedroom but were suprised to find when we arrived that there were two bedrooms and two bathrooms - not sure if all the apartments are like this, but it would easily have suited four adults. The only thing that let it down was that the pool was rather small, but that doesn't really matter when you are so close to the beach. There also isn't a manned reception as they are self contained flats, therefore you have to call the number on the notice board out front to check in but it was pretty simple. The cooking facilities are pretty basic just a two ring hot plate so take a small kettle if you like a cuppa. The area is very quite although the apartments back onto a couple of bars they tend to close around 12am. Only 50 metres from Cala Blanca beach, which is a small sheltered cove and really safe for children. The beach is beautiful, crystal clear waters surrounded by pine trees. There are around 3 or 4 restaurants within easy reach, each one serving local and international dishes at very reasonable prices and the quality is very good too! The bus stop is just outside the apartments and it costs roughly 1.30 euros to travel the 10 min journey to Ciutadella, which is well worth a visit. The bus drops you off in the main square which is surrounded by plenty of bars and restaurants and only a short walk from the pretty harbour. I would recommend eating in the old town not far from the cathedral. We tried a fixed price menu which was extremely good value 16 euros for 3 courses. We also hired a car for the first week which I would recommend, there is so much to see and do in Menorca, and the roads are very easy to negotiate and very well signposted. We visited the Bronze Age caves in Cala Morell, Mahon, Son Bou where there is 4km long beach, Cala de Santa Galdana and the island's highest point Monte Toro, where you get a fantastic view of just about the whole island.
