“Brilliant location”
Reviewed 21 September 2012

September 5th. We arrived after our transfer at about 1 pm. We could not believe the location of the apartments , as they were just across the road from a gorgeous little beach with white sand and gently lapping sea. Apartments were spacious with two bedrooms, two bathrooms ( one en-suite ) and an adequate kitchen/diner. Lovely patio area just outside, where we ate many a meal. Bedding and towels changed twice in the week we spent there. Towels were a little tired but perfectly clean. One very small criticism would be of the smell of drains when first entering the apartments, but this soon disappeared , once the doors had been open a few minutes.
(Block up the overflows in basin and bidets with tissue paper) Five or six restaurants located nearby around the lovely beach, but if you needed a larger selection, just take a stroll 10 minutes up the road to watch the glorious sunset , and there is a large selection of eating places behind the Maribel Hotel. We had a brilliant time here , and would not hesitate to return to these apartments. We have promised ourselves that we will return in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: Downstair rooms seem to be the ones that have a patio area, whereas upstairs rooms, you seemed to be...

This was our second stay at these appartments, we stayed October half term 2011. It was really quiet then because it was the end of season, but we enjoyed it anyway and said we would like to return in the summer to see what its like then. We stayed 18th-25th August we found the appartments to be good, clean-yes there were a few ants but nothing over the top! Towels changed a couple of times in the week we were there and saw the cleaner/maid in our room once but that was fine with us. One thing you do need though is air con, it was really hot- into the thirties the whole week so you can probably imagine what it was like trying to sleep on a night. Also the noise from the sports bar behind the appartments was very noisy sometimes till 2 in the morning - not with music, just some men talking /shouting! It takes seconds to get to the beach which is lovely, the sea was warm and very clear. There were a number of restaurants around that looked nice and reasonably priced but we just self catered as it was too hot to walk anywhere. There were various supermarkets but we found julias to be better for us. Went on the bus to cuitadella a couple of times when we felt brave enough to tackle the heat! Overall we had a great week we didn't want to come home.

We had the misfortune to spend one night in these apartments at the end of June and that was one night too many as far as I am concerned. We had booked out holiday through OnThe Beach and were expecting to spend two weeks in the Hi Cala Blanca Hotel. However, when we arrived, we were advised that they "did not do apartments" and gave us a map with these apartments highlighted. When we arrived at the Cala Blanca Apartments, we decided straight away that we were not spending any longer than necessary there (having booked a 3* hotel and then been directed to 2 key accommodation which we had not even seen in a brochure). The location is about the only thing this place had going for it, being literally a stone's throw from the beach. However, the grounds in which the apartments were set was a mess and the apartments themselves were no better. The one we were allocated could not even be locked so we spent one very restless night in there before we were relocated to Cala'n Forcat the next morning, after I'd advised OnThe Beach of their error. No air conditioning, broken shower, broken toilet, no television - 1 key would have been more appropriate.
Cala Blanca itself seemed a very quiet resort and we would have struggled to keep our kids entertained there.

Decent hotel , however bathrooms very smelly and covered in ants, after a good clean though they are ok. Pool is very nice and the beach is about a 30 second walk, restaurants around the apartments are ok, nothing special but do the job. If you're after a cheap and basic holiday it's ideal. Apartment is big for 2. Could easily fit 4/5 in.

Just back from a 2 week holiday in Cala Blanca (30 June to 14 July - 2 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 7). Arrived at 9pm on a Saturday, called the number on the board (there is no reception desk or staff here so you do need access to a phone) and were directed to our apartment with no problems. The apartments were clean and well maintained, with an electric kettle and toaster. 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, plus living area/dining kitchen. Kitchen has a 2 ring electric hob for cooking. We were in one of the ground floor apartments which had a patio area with plastic chairs and table. Towels were provided and changed regularly, as was the bed linen. There is a small (clean) adequate pool with sunbeds provided. The apartments are situated 30 seconds walk from the beach and restaurants, which was great for us with 2 kids, and there is a supermarket just behind the property. A 10 minute walk took you to the commercial centre, where there are more restaurants and bars, plus a couple more supermarkets. There is a regular bus service from just outside the apartments and this takes you direct to Ciutadella for 1.55 euros each (also stops at a few of the beach resorts on the way if you want a change of scenery ie Santandria). We booked independently and used Menorca Airport Transfers for an excellent service. Only downside was the lack of air con and noise from the bar behind the property. If you want a no frills, great quality, good value holiday, then this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor apartment if possible.

Stayed at these appartments october half term. What can I say, for the price we paid it was great. Situated next to the beach just across a quiet road. It was a 2 bedroom appartment with 1 bathroom and 1 on suite. Rooms are basic but had clean towels and bedding at least twice in the week we were there. Unfortunately due to the time of year not much was open which was a problem when we could'nt find anywhere selling water or milk! (summer time I can imagine it to be fantastic). We went on the bus to cuitadella a couple of times and stocked up on essentials. The weather was great the whole week, apart from heavy rain late one night and a few spit spots one tea time. If the price was right we would'nt hesitate staying here again but preferably during summer when its more lively.

We were there 16th Oct to 23 Oct. At this time of year most places are closed.

The apartments are basic, no TV but two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and kitchen/living area.
The block of apartments is right on the beach so if that's your thing you can't go far wrong.

There is some confusion with reviews as there are some reviews that are not for the apartments cala blanca. There is no reception here, it is a block of apartments, there is a pool but that is it in terms of facilities.

Before you go make note of the international dialling code for Spain; as others have noted the number you have to ring when you get there (on the notice board) won't work from UK mobiles unless you use the dialling code which is not listed on the board. It will be a short phone call, they will simply tell you which apartment you are in and where the key is (probably in the door)

When we went it was very, very quiet which I loved. There was a Spanish bar open situated right behind the apartments which was reasonably priced. The tapas was good (the pizza was not).

The bar/restaurant on the beach was also open (was due to close at then end of the week)

If you've looked at google street maps you'll note there is a spar behind the apartments; this is no longer there. We arrived on Sunday with no food and no idea where to get any.

In fact there was only one supermarket open, Julia's (there is a map by the beach) it's a 5-10 minute walk. There was also a few other bar/restaurants open around there too.

Julia's stocks some english brands and has english newspapers as well as alcohol ;-)

The Irish bar near Julia's is a nice place (it will be mainly spanish customers at this time of year). It has comfortable outdoor seating, friendly service and a great sea view. I don't think they do food though.

There is a Chinese restaurant near the apartments but I didn't like the food there at all.

At night you could here a pin drop and it was really really dark. But you felt perfectly safe since there were not many people around anyway.

If you need a bit more excitement you can go into Ciutadella. You could walk it but for 1.50 on the bus you may as well do that, it's only about a two minute journey. I went during the day and it was busy, I didn't sample the night life though. If you have a smoker in your party then this is where you will need to go to buy some but some bars have machines.

Most of the people in the immediate area were spanish but in Ciutadella there were a large number of English tourists.

If you don't plan on spending your evening in a bar then take some entertainment with you.

If you want peace and quiet then I would recommend going at this time of year. I had a very relaxing holiday and the weather was a lot hotter than expected given the forecast before we went.

For the price it was a bargain.
