“lovely relaxing hotel”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

We have just returned from a lovely weeks holiday at Sagitario Playa. The hotel is small with about 72 rooms and has a very friendly relaxed atmosphere in the hotel and around the pool area. The staff are very friendly, helpful and hardworking. Food was good, plenty of choice at breakfast and evening meal for our taste. There is a small shop at front of hotel and there are 3 supermarkets within easy walking distance. Buses go frequently to Cuitadella and once a day to Cala n Bosch. Nice wee beach is just down the road. Would love to go back

Room Tip: We had a room at side of hotel and we liked the peacefulness of it (room 209)

Playa Blanca is a small resort and quite pleasant. The Sagitario Playa is approximately a 75 room hotel over 3 floors so it's not a dominating high rise like big chain hotels. The rooms are decorated really nicely, the dining room is a nice size and the food is of good choice and quality although personally i would prefer a little more choice on the hot vegtables - but that's my personal opinion. Pool area is a decent size and no matter the time of day there is lots of sunbeds available. The staff are really good and great fun and speak good English. Our stay was very good with nice comfy rooms. There is also a Spa that is free for Hotel guests which is nice at the end of the day. Local bars and the small bay style beach are a 2 or 3 minute walk away. Overall a nice little break style resort with no craziness or big crowds or rowdy stag or hen parties. Good for mature groups, couples and families.

Room Tip: ask for a pool view room as some do overlook the street.

When we booked our holiday, we asked our tour operator, Thomas Cook, for a quiet family hotel which is exactly what we got with the Sagitario Playa. This may have been due us going early season as apart from a few small children the hotel was both peaceful and relaxing.
We were both delighted to find that the Hotel was spotlessly clean and all staff were very friendly and worked extremely hard to make sure you fully enjoyed your stay. In addition to mentioning reception, the lady in the gift shop and the chefs who were all great, look out for Juan, Gabriel, Antonio & Sergio who were always glad to see you and were great fun.
The food was an excellent buffet style, there was plenty of chicken, steak, pork and fish which was cooked fresh every night. In addition to the meat there were always several different choices. If you are looking for an expensive a la carte type service then this is not for you, however, if you are looking for excellent basic grub and looked after by hard working, friendly, happy staff then this is the hotel I would recommend.
In my many years of travelling, I have NEVER known a hotel with so many people who return year after year for a quiet relaxing break. Although the noise from the work being carried out on the building next door was a bit annoying, we will most certainly return to the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms not facing the pool are the best. We did not comment on the spa or fitness centre as we did no...

Just back from week at this hotel. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Food was good but seemed to be a shortage of restaurant staff. Existing staff seemed to run everywhere and 'chef' changed every night from waiter to manager to proper chef. Did not impact on food standards but often food was not replaced very quickly. Rooms were excellent although rooms over entertainment area could be noisy. Room 205 to 209 very quiet. Some noise from work being carried out at apartments next door but nothing too annoying. Bar staff are extremely attentive and very funny. Would return to this hotel again, had a very relaxing week.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms overlooking road at side not front.

We spent 2 weeks at this hotel and found the Hotel clean and the rooms spotless. It is a small hotel with excellent staff. The food was good and plenty of it. For a quiet holiday this is the place to go.

Stayed here for the last week in May and had a great time. The weather was 'mixed' but this did not detract from our enjoyment. Had the pool to ourselves for the first three days but then it became more lively. I thoroughly enjoyed the mix of nationalities (even though this is not a very large hotel). English, Spanish, Italians and a latge group of French visitors made for a great atmosphere. The hotel is spotlessly clean with towels changed every day and fluffy bathrobes were provided. The staff are superb -friendly, informative and efficient. Gabriel (Biel) is a star and seemed to work effortlessly all day as bartender, entertainer and translator (of at least three languages). One of the most entertaining parts of the holiday was listening to the group of Spaniards who visited for afternoon tea and provided the entertainment - their singing was like hearing a great Welsh choir and was truly moving. Another day a group of younger Spanish women visited for a spa day and the noise level was cranked up quite a bit (in a lovely way). The food was passable but certainly not the best we have experienced. Breakfasts were tasty though the cooking service was a bit slow and queues formed waiting for sausages or eggs to be cooked. The evening meals were a bit of a disappointment and dessert had a 'sameness' to it every night. However, the hotel and staff still made this a wonderful holiday and I would go back again though I would just book bed and breakfast.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed to be well-appointed. Ours backed onto the road but this was no problem as the are...

We stayed here last week and were impressed with the modern style in the rooms and cleanliness. rooms were cleaned to a very high standard every day, all staff were very friendly especially the bar staff who provided excellent service throughout the day and night, with generous measures.

Overall hotel facilities are good with a lovely pool area, but be warned the pool is very deep in one section 2.20m which may not suit everyone.

Entertainment wasn't great and strangely started quite late at 10pm. However it appears that the locals use this hotel and every Fri & Sat for dancing which created a nice atmosphere and you were welcomed to join in.

Unfortunately the food at both breakfast and dinner was terrible and after a couple of visits ended up eating out the rest of the time. The selection was quite poor and was never kept hot it appeared that dishes were put out at the start and never refreshed during the dining. Fresh items that were cooked in front of you on the hot plate like kebabs and sausages were raw when we cut into them. the plus side was the bread and pastries were lovely.

We feel this would be a excellent hotel which would fully merit 4 stars but not until they address the food issue. Having booked half board it meant we incurred unexpected extra costs from eating out so much.

We recommend booking room only and not half board like we did.
