“Well worth a visit for the lovely beach...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2013

We have used this hotel twice (Feb 2011 and Feb 2012) and would go again. There are three hotels with some shared facilities and access to Jandia beach, which is really nice. The beach is very liberated and classed as a naturist beach. If you go down to the beach and turn left there are coves but the main beach stretches miles to the right. There are plenty of shops along its promenade and a town/harbour at the end of the beach, past the lighthouse. The transfer from the airport is a straight run but about 40 minutes or so depending on other drop-offs. The weather was mixed on both occasions and as you might expect here, it got hot but a bit windy some days.

We have found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. As returning guests we were given a voucher to use the spar for a day (no treatment, just use of the facility.)

The hotel is pleasantly appointed, it is clean throughout and the restaurant is pleasant enough. The food is of a fair standard and you’ll never go hungry with so much choice. There are plenty of good drinks available and you can even pour your own beer at the bar or in the restaurant. Wines are served in bottles and there are good branded spirits freely available.

The rooms are spacious and quite comfortable but looking a bit tired in places although I believe that is being addressed. The pool looks fine with plenty of sun-beds about but we tended to take a towel down to the beautiful beach. If you venture into the Gaviotas, which overlooks the beach, the views are lovely. This hotel is mainly used by German tour operators but you are welcome there. You can use the 10-pin-bowling (at extra cost) the a la carte (get vouchers from reception) or simply enjoy the views of the beach from the roof top bar. There were a couple of occasions when the Gaviotas Park hotel did a Bavarian evening, allowing you to sample different food and beers.

Overall a friendly, casual atmosphere and we would definitely return again. Sorry this is late review but I've got a bit more time now and think a positive vote is important...

My wife and I spent a week here in the last week of May. Many aspects of earlier reviews are very accurate and so I can only reinforce these to other readers. The food here is excellent in terms of variety and quality and comprises one of the best buffet experiences we have had. A great touch is the availability of good quality alcohols drinks at mealtimes in both both dining venues. The deserts on offer we particularly varied and first-rate.
The room were recently refurbished and in good order being nicely decorated and appointed. However, corridor and room floors were tiled and therefore very noisy especially later at night as families in particular turned from their evening activities after 11.00 pm. If you want peace and quiet therefore with few children, especially post 11.00 pm then don,t choose this hotel or this British half-term week.
Earlier reviewers were very correct in highlighting the preponderance of German guests which was not an issue but English voices were rarely heard around the public areas. Getting a sun lounger around the pool was also also correctly highlighted as not an issue. Guests could take a leisurely breakfast, return to their rooms and easily find a suitable lounger after 9.30 am. I would like to think that this was down to the excellent etiquette of guests but was probably more down to the fact that the sun didn't begin to shine until after 10.00 am and usually not until lunchtime. The island being windy, added to the morning cloud cover even at this time of year made it quite cold and unsuitable to sit out - this was probably the most disappointing aspect of the holiday and I know not the fault of the hotel. However, the unpublicised refurbishment over the course of the whole week of the main pool area by the hotel management during one of its busiest periods was a disgrace. The noise of angle grinders, chisels and clouds of dust comprised the daily diet around a much reduced pool area and many gusts complained, I believe like me with little apology or explanation. These pool works were still continuing when we left on June 1st.
The beach area was,in my opinion poor and not operated by the hotel meaning that there were no hotel-provided facilities or catering there. The beach looked dirty although this was down to the volcanic nature of the island. However, the indifferent weather, cost of hiring a sun lounger and the flat, barren nature of the beach combined to persuade people to stay at the hotel even with the noise and dust. Hotel refurbishments at the hotel gravitas playa next door meant that the path down to the beach was closed so gusts had to clamber down a loose shingle bank to reach the lower path. This was quite dangerous particularly for more elderly or infirm guests and another negative aspect of hotel management during the week. Guests also need to be aware that to get around the hotel to and from the lobby, to the pool dining room and beach comprises a very steep gradient with a considerable number of steps and steep paths. This is not the hotel for you if you don't find steps or steep inclines acceptable.
Unfortunately, we both like to visit the gym when we are on holiday and here it can only be described as poor. The multi-purpose equipment was very sparse, old and poorly maintained. The free weights available were pathetic in number and range and there were no towels easily available as requested to use on the notice entering the gym. Please note that the gym is also completely unsupervised so there were quite a lot of in appropriately aged and dressed people using the facilities.
So, to sum up, disappointing weather combined, with what I can only describe as incompetent management decisions completely lacking empathy with or consideration for guests paying a high price to stay at their hotel, to make a rather lacklustre weeks holiday at the gravitas park. We quite liked the hotel but it is not good enough for us to return which is a shame as we are big iberostar fans. Should we return to the canaries then we will head for a prettier island where the sun is a little more guaranteed and where the management of the hotel might have better communication skills with its guests and abilities.

Room Tip: As far away from the lobby area as possible to cut down on the noise

IberostarHoteles, Online Reputation Manager at IBEROSTAR Playa Gaviotas Park, responded to this review, 27 June 2013
Dear Guest,
Although we are very sorry to read that your stay at our IBEROSTAR Playa Gaviotas Park hotel was not as enjoyable as it could have been, we would like to thank you for sharing your observations with us because this gives us the opportunity to make improvements and thus offer all our guests a better service, which ultimately is the goal of IBEROSTAR.

Being aware that our hotel isn´t of new construction, we do our utmost to maintain and preserve it the best we can; as we strive to offer comfortable accommodation to all our guests we started a refurbishment that is due to finish end of July, nevertheless we would like to point out that we do our best to minimize the inconveniences for our guests and ensure that all the security standards are being applied.

We took good note of your comment regarding our fitness room and will pass it on to our head of department in order to have an accurate check on the facilities and consider if necessary, the replacement of part of the equipment, however here again, we would like to point out that we have regular internal and external controls and our installations and we do guarantee all the security standards of a holiday establishment.

Moreover, we are sorry about your disappointment concerning the beach; In Spain all the beaches are public, meaning that no hotel can have a private beach to offer to their guests and due to the marine currents, weather circumstances and the fact that not all visitors have equal perception of values, sometimes it can look as being unattended.
On the other hand we are thrilled to read that our culinary offer could largely satisfy you. Being a repeating guest of our chain you know that the gastronomy is an important facet of our company and we do our utmost to please all palates. It is enjoyable to read that we could conquer yours.

Finally, we are very grateful for your fidelity to our company and for taking the time to write a review on your last stay in our hotel as this will help us to know where we do well and where we can still improve and this is only feasible thanks to guests like you.

We look forward to welcoming you again in our hotels and resorts over the world assuring you in advance our utmost caring dedication.

Warmest Regards,

Spent 11 nights herein October with the family. We all had a great time and the weather was good to us. The hotel room was big and spacious not that we was in it much. The food here was amazing there was always good quality food on offer and always had guest chefs in the buffet. The pools was big and never overcrowded and we always got a sun bed. On the way down to the beach we always stopped to feed the chipmunks which the kids loved doing. The beach is fine sand with the sea lovely and warm. My kids went off to the kids club a couple of times and they always came back very happy. When we left the hoteland was sat in the taxi on the way to the airport my boys was crying as they didn't want to leave. All the staff was friendly and hardworking. All in all a very good holiday

Went here for 2 weeks in May on a family holiday. Have stayed in the Iberostar Fuerteventura Palace before but first time here. Excellent hotel, absolutely spotless both communal areas and rooms. Our suite was upgraded on arrival, a very nice surprise, to a two bedroom one. Very spacious and comfortable with a great view down to the sea. Staff in all areas of the hotel are very efficient and polite, slipping effortlessly between different languages, only some Scottish names causing difficulty in pronunciation!. Variety of daytime activities near the pool with no pressure to participate, although most were well attended with fun prizes including vouchers for the hotel spa and bowling at the hotel next door which had a bowling bar. Beautiful pools, bracing but would probably be warmer later in the year, surrounded by well tended gardens and the restaurant . First hotel we have EVER been to where you could go to the pool in the afternoon and still get plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. The nearby beach is beautiful and sandy, the wind makes the sea quite wavy so youngsters need to be watched, but the water is quite warm. Nice flat footpath goes from the beach right into the town area where there are some shops, usual mix with some designer stores. Watch the prices, quite high due to the exchange rate. Food was very good and there was always something for everyone. The all-inclusive was great value with a good variety of local and international brands. The evening entertainment was variable, that's what you expect, but a couple of really good shows. Two of our party had birthdays while there and both received gifts from the hotel which was unexpected. A great holiday for us but maybe too quiet for youngsters looking to party.

I am just back from a two week stay at this hotel with my boyfriends family. There was 7 of us in total and ranged in ages from 73 to 23.

The hotel itself is very nice. It is clean the staff are excellent and work extremely hard.

Rooms - very spacious ours consisted of a double bed as well as a sofa bed, kitchenette, balcony and spacious bathroom. Bottles of water are delivered to room daily and the room is cleaned daily. I would say the only downside was there was no stocked minibar which was mentioned in the brochure.

Pool area - large pool area again extremely clean and well cared for no problems getting 6 sunbeds together at anytime of the day. Lifeguard on duty and doctor available 24 hrs. Toilets again very clean. Good children's play park and pool. The only downside was the pool was absolutely freezing. As someone who loves to swim I only managed to go in the pool 3 times in 2 weeks due to it being so cold. Even the children weren't playing in the pool.

Food - I would say the food is average. Great if you like fish and pork. Became repetitive in second week where all I eat was pizza, pasta and salad. It is like most hotel all inclusive food not the best but not the worst.

Bars - as the hotel is very quiet the entertainment is very low key. You can sit in the bar until around 1am however after the show finishes around half 10 the bar area tends to clear. Great for families with young children and people who like to go to bed early but not ideal for teenagers or younger couples who want a bit more atmosphere. It is impossible to stay up late and party at this hotel.

Entertainment - the entertainment team work extremely hard and are very friendly. They ask if you would like to take part in games ect but if you politely refuse they leave you alone very quickly. The shows at night time ranged from very good to very poor with a mix of outside entertainers and hotel staff.

Location - the hotel sits 1.5 miles from the town of jandia surrounded by 3 iberostar hotels. You can use the gaviotas hotel next door if you wish. It is around a 15 -20 minute walk into the town along a great walk and cycle path or along the beach. This is a good walk during the day however at night some parts of the path leading back up to the hotel is in darkness. Jandia itself does not have a great deal in it. A few shops and German resturants/bars. Again very low key at night time. The beach is beautiful.

Recommendation - I would recommend this hotel for families with very young children or couple looking for an escape with extreme peace and quiet who wish to go to bed early and have a great night sleep. It is not great for couples looking for a bit more buzz or for families with older children as I feel that they would become bored.

In summery - lovely hotel, nice place for peace and quiet however 1 week is enough 2 is a bit too long and can become boring especially at night.

This was first hotel break since having children (age 4 and 6) so was slighly worried regarding quality of food and facilities of an all inclusive. Chose this hotel based on trip advisor reviews and it definately lived up to expectations! Choice of food and drink was excellent and quality too, including traditional spanish, chinese and sushi my favourite. Kids loved the desserts, fresh fruit and plenty for the less adventurous also. My children enjoyed the miniclub and disco, the staff were lovely, really friendly and made the effort. Kids playarea and sand pit by the pool so plenty to keep them occupied while you relax! My husband tried the sporting activities during the day including archery and shooting. Also had classes such as yoga and there was a spa on site but didn't get chance to try. Outdoor pools were very cold but we did have unusually cold weather for the time of year. Jandia beach is one of the best on the island. We booked a car for the week but wasn't necessary as taxi to Jandia cheap or can stroll down the beach. The room was a suite with 2 seperate areas, felt quite spacious, decor nothing special but acceptable . Side sea view looked over pools, not noisy even though we were above the dining room. Lack of English TV channels but the hotel is European mainly German guests so this is understandable and we actually prefer the less English dominated resorts on the island. Poor internet facilities and no wireless in rooms but if you are looking for week of escape this is a bonus! The hotel is very relaxed, no rowdy drunk guests, didnt feel crowded even though was school holiday dates. Can use facilities at next door includng bowling bar. We are hoping to book again for next year but a longer stay as 7 nights was too short. This was my first Iberostar hotel stay but will use this brand again based on this experience.

Room Tip: Majority of rooms are suites so excellent for family, for extra charge prefer to choose side or sea...

I've spend a week in the hotel together with my girlfriend in the beginning of May. The staff was helpful and friendly, room facilities spacious and clean. Hotel is located a 5 minuets march to a wide, long, sandy beach, 20 minutes walk to city centre. If you are looking for peace and relaxation - good choice, if you prefer some action - choose a hotel in the northern side of Fuerteventura, closer to Lanzarote.
We strongly recommend all inclusive - the beverage choice is quite good and the food choice and quality is the most outstanding. We were very pleased with themed dinners.
Overall I had not find a single thing I was disappointed or unhappy with, I got more that I've expected.
