Room- large. Lots space around the bed. All the rooms we saw appeared to be the same.

Aircon- yes. No thermostat control, just on/off and a third position, possibly 'high' (the markings on the knob were all but invisible!). It worked well in our room, less well in our daughters' room, but adequate. As is common in many hotels it also only works if the French windows are closed.

TV- yes. 32" or 37" lcd type. A number of channels. a couple of uk news channels, but most are German or Spanish. Didn't notice any pay per view channels but then we didn't really use the tv much anyway.

Internet- not free. Different options available, but buy a 24hr pass (currently 15 euros) because unlike the other options, you can use it spread out as needed over a week. Remember to log off at the end of each session or the count down of your 24 hrs will continue.

Beds- if you are used to sinking into a deep mattress, the hotel beds may seem firm, but we found them fine and I think most people will. All the beds, doubles and singles, were quite large. (Not a criticism!)

Beds again: we booked a double, but were given a twin. We asked if we could be moved to a double room, which they did. However the receptionist said that most of their guests were German and apparently they usually prefer twins, so most of the hotel rooms had twin beds not doubles. Therefore if you want a double, as well as booking one, put it as a "special request" on the booking. It won't guarantee you a double in the high season, but might help.

Bathroom- fairly low water pressure to the shower in our room, but not really a problem.

Other Guests- mostly German but that is no bad thing unless you want to do lots of excursions (see below).

Excursions: a range is on offer, but very limited if you don't speak german as some of the people selling them spoke almost no Spanish or English!

Cleanliness- no problems. Noise: This is a big hotel by the beach, right next to another big hotel (another iberostar- the "Gaviota"), but allowing for that, it is not bad. You could be unlucky with either the position of your room or your neighbours, but probably most people will be ok. If you really like total peace and quiet though, there are probably not many large beach hotels that can guarantee that. we started on floor four (swimming pool level, so noise from people walking by the room to get to the pool and the nearby kids play area) then moved

to floor eight as we wanted a double bed, and got noise from the adjoining hotel's bar. Neither worth complaining about, but Sunday night's disco at the Gaviota went on till about 1am and if i had not got earplugs i would have complained.

Food- good choice, no complaints. Some Spanish dishes but mostly international. Freshly made fruit juices to drink at breakfast (plus coffee, etc) along with the more standard fizzy drinks, beer, wine, etc in the evening.
Some days there were some extra free self-service tasters on a table on the way in - a shot of honey rum liquor one evening, Cava at breakfast on another. All very nice. Long trousers were requested for men for the evening meal (which the majority complied with), no other dress code.

Location: on the beach... And it's quite a beach! You can walk for what seems like miles in either direction and not run out of sand to walk on.

Transfers: The trip from the airport took just over an hour, but two hours on the way back! The official time was 90 minutes and the driver said it would take two hours depending on time of day and traffic and how many hotel stops had to be made (in our case there were three on the way out and about 5 on the way back).

Towels: the hotel will give you towels for a ten euro deposit each that you can use on the beach or by the pool, so no need to bring your own.

Late checkout: not free and of course subject to the hotel having space. However there are ample sofas, seats, free showers and toilets dotted around the public areas in the hotel, and of course a luggage room, so its not strictly necessary to pay for late checkout. Normal checkout is by 11am.

Other guests: We heard a variety of languages spoken, but most commonly German and though I don't speak that language, we had no problems except when trying to book excursions, as mentioned earlier. I prefer to "tune out" when on holiday, so *not* understanding all the chatter going on around me is ideal! But if you go on holiday here in the hope of making new friends, best to speak some German!

Summary: Perfectly fine hotel, good staff, good food, good location. So, like the hotel's own star rating, I'll give it 4 out of 5.

Room Tip: Specify a double bedroom or you will probably get a twin. The hotel is build into a slope. The reception is at the rear (assuming you consider the Sea "the front". Reception is floor 7 (of 8). Floors 1-3 Are low down at the front, facing the sea. 4-6 are set back slightly and surround the pool area for the most part. 7 and 8 Can be quieter. Main tip: If you don't like your room just ask if you can change it. The worst they can do is say no.

This holiday was great, the hotel is right on the beach with steps from the pool area he go down to the beach. There never seems to be enough sunbeds but as long as you get there early enough its easy to get a few!
The bar staff are great and very helpful! The breakfast and dinner buffets are brilliant with fresh food cooked every night.
The entertainment is not only for children, with the adults playing water polo everyday in the afternoon among other activities.
The hotel is very clean and all staff are lovely!
Already waiting for flights and dates to open up for the same time next year!!

Room Tip: Floor four is the same as the pool and has the best family rooms.

We spend there a nice Beach Vacation Week on fuerteventura and can recommend this good Iberostar Hotel to others. When we made booking, we did not expect anything special, but during the time in the Hotel, we really saw, that they doing there a very friendly Service to the Guests. also the Food - Breakfast Buffet and Dinner - was fresh and nice decorated. Swimmingpool was very clean there. We had a Standard Room and we found that it was in a good average and top clean.

Always busy sun beds by the pool.Restaurants large with thousands people inside .
Fortunately, I was only there one night.I know that there are people who like that kind of hotels.
There are better ways to spend your vacation.

I was not sure what to expect when I booked a holiday at Iberostar Palace. My past three trips were spent at Faro Jandia, and after a disappointing stay my partner and I decided to try out something new.

Overall Iberostar Palace has gotten very good reviews. I agree with most of them. The food is excellent. A lot to choose from and the quality is very good. We went for the "all inclusive" so we got the wine which was included in the deal. It was fine, but nothing too fantastic. The cocktails were pre-made - so if you expect an out of this world piña colada you will be disappointed. It is a piña colada mixture mixed with slush ice! :-( When they do serve a freshly made cocktail like a Mojito, then you either have to pay 3€ (having the all inclusive deal) or double the price if you are not in the all inclusive deal. I find it odd that they serve fantastic food and loose out on their drinks department.

The hotel is located absolutely smack bang on the beach and has a very calm atmosphere even though there are a lot of guests. The pool area is crowded. I am happy that we opted for the V.I.P area which was much quieter. When we checked in, we asked for an upgrade to the Superior room and paid 17€ per night. The room with the sea view which claims to be newly renovated was light and bright.

The few things that surprised me were the lack of electrical outlets, we could only find 2 in our room, where one of them was already taken for the table lamp. There was one in the bathroom.. just not the best place to charge ones iPhone!

The bathroom: hmmm we were not impressed. Outdated and small. We were surprised that there were no bathrobes and no bath slippers. It often had a foul sewer odor. Not pleasant.

The individual air-condition: it did not cool the room down. Even though I repeatedly asked the receptionists to get someone to fix it - nothing was done. Which led me to sleep on the floor and finally on the 3rd night shift the entire bed towards the vents of the air-condition to get some air. When we would step out of our room "3026" in the mornings/afternoons and evenings, it was always cooler outside.. just a bummer when one paid for luxury and comfort.. The receptionists always looked very understanding and jotted down the complaint again and again but nothing happened. There I can say that they really got my blood boiling.. *grrrrsss - sleep wise we were deprived of a proper good night's sleep. A shame. It is a deal breaker.

The pillows: I describe them as long, hard, neck breakers. If you like "your" pillow, then take it with you! We wish we had!
The pool towels: you need to deposit 10€ per towel.
The safe: It costs 16.50€ to rent - and a further 5€ deposit for the safe key
The internet: Again costs €€. That was too ridiculous to drain money into - if you need to go online, walk over to the Ventura shopping mall which is 5 minutes away from the hotel and there is an internet cafe which is very cheap.
Stamps: You can buy them from the kiosk. We bought some stamps called "Easy Post" from one of the shops in town and they didn't accept them in the hotel's post box.

Chema, Marcos and many of the waiting staff, the chefs, the maids are speedy, efficient, polite and keep everything moving smoothly. Hats off to them!

The Piano bar is a dark room with a piano which is not used! what a shame!

The entertainment... The sound was often too loud and distorting in the entertainment hall. The outdoor evening entertainment were either a duo performing with backing tracks accompanied by an electric guitar or a young lady with bad karaoke playback tracks. Nothing to send fan mail over. Why not turn off the music and just enjoy the sea waves!?

Room Tip: Stay away from the rooms that are close to the elevators! Use the stairs - faster to go around the hotel and you decide if you want to go up or down! There is a Spar supermarket at the Ventura shopping mall If you have young kids, then make sure to get them the "Mickey Mouse" pancake :-) Always a hit!
