Reviewed 11 June 2014

Myself and my boyfriend stayed at the HD Beach Resort from the 26th of May.
The hotel is really clean and modern, situated right in front of a beautiful beach. Staff were really welcoming and informative on arrival.

Our room was huge!! Really modern and stylish, double wardrobes each, lovely spacious bathroom, large comfy bed. We had amazing sea views from our balcony. The maids did an amazing job with the room every day, it was always spotless when we returned to our room in the evening.

The food was lovely, the cooks obviously tried to vary the food as much as they could. Always had fresh fish and meats which they cooked in front of you. Paella was served most nights. One night they did a doner kebab. The 'house' all inclusive red wine and beer were nice too which was a bonus!

The hotel has a very impressive spa, which has a stunning glass pool, 3 Jacuzzis, sauna and steam room as well as a well equipped gym - this was really useful to us when the weather was bad.

We rented bikes from the hotel most days which were only 3 euros a day - tons cheaper than the companies in town. There's a great cycle path all the way along the sea front of costa teguise which we would recommend to anyone wanting to explore the different beaches, bars and restaurants.

There's a really nice square in the center of costa teguise, with bars and restaurants round it, and most nights there is live music on in the middle of the square which was really nice to listen to whilst having a meal out.

Our only complaint of the hotel was that there was only one bar available in the evening which was inside the kids evening entertainment room - so was very very noisy and busy. It would have been great if there was another bar for people wanting a quiet drink to go to.

The pools are very very cold!!! However if the weather had been hotter this wouldn't have been a problem - we were just very unlucky with the weather!

The staff were lovely and went out of their way to help.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we wished we could have stayed longer!! We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view! well worth it.

This really is a very good hotel - as others have said, the staff are really wonderful - friendly and efficient. The Manager, Manuel, is very hands-on and approachable, and the Chef made a point of going around the restaurant asking what people thought of the meals. The food was very good - lots of very nice fresh fruit and salads. Our room was lovely - spacious and comfortable and the bathroom was huge and well-equipped. We had a junior suite on the front overlooking the beach and sea and the balcony was sheltered from the breeze. Everywhere is kept immaculately clean and the surrounds to the pools are non-slip - a good safety feature. Everywhere is disabled-accessible with ramps. They have disabled-adapted rooms with wider doors which are on the ground floor of the hotel. The lifts are on the small side, and some have doors which need to be pulled or pushed open which might be a problem if you are disabled or have mobility problems and you are staying on a higher floor. Whilst we were there, the majority of the guests were French and British.

On the negative side, we found the entertainment area very dark, noisy and uncomfortable, so we are unable to comment on the entertainment, but it seemed aimed at the families with children which is great. However, for those of us without families, it would have been lovely to have had somewhere quiet to sit with a drink as the noise from the entertainment area spilled out into the foyer and you could not have a quiet conversation unless you went outside, where you were usually surrounded by smokers. If the hotel could provide a quiet, smoke-free room with a bar for those who like to be quiet in the evening, it would be perfect. There is a very small TV room on the ground floor which is very nice and has a lovely view of the sea, but as the TV is on and the furnishings are aimed at TV-viewing, it is not really suitable to have quiet conversations. We mentioned to the Thomas Cook rep that we were disappointed there was nowhere quiet, and she said, rather dismissively, "well, the hotel is not known for being quiet, you know!". Erm, no, we didn't know and it would have been nice to be told before booking. Quite a few reviewers have commented on the lack of a quiet bar and the hotel would do well to address this or they could be missing out!

Overall, a very good hotel.

Room Tip: Sea-view rooms are well worth the extra - the views are wonderful.

Just stayed here for ten nights, overall I would recommend this hotel. The resort in which the hotel is situated has beautiful beaches and plenty of shops and bars. Although the weather is very windy, in the hotel there are other indoor things to do. Which helps pass time when the weather isn't so great, these include a relaxing spa, which is only for adults. However the children can use the spa for an hour which we found quite helpful. The spa is clean and has friendly staff.

There are also the hotel entertainment team, they are very hard-working and friendly to both adults and children. They put on activities throughout the day, and put on good shows in the night. Considering there are not many people in the entertainment team, the standards of their work overall is as good as entertainment teams that I have seen in the past that has lots of staff in it.

There are plenty of sports facilities in the hotel, these are well kept and are no hassle to use. The food in the hotel was of a good standard and wasn't very repetitive, and the restaurant staff in both the Italian and the main restaurant were friendly and helpful.

In reception the staff were also very approachable and they couldn't do enough to help. They hotel overall was clean, well kept and the staff were lovely. I would recommend this hotel to families with kids of any age.

Just returned from a week at the HD beach resort.
The hotel is lovely, right opposite the beach and just a very short level walk away from shops and restaurants. There is unlimited free food and drink [alcoholic and non alcoholic] available all day. The staff are lovely and very hard working, the whole hotel is spotless and beautifully decorated.

There are lots of free activities including spas, volley ball, table tennis, boules .aqua aerobics etc.
Opposite the hotel is a bus stop and there are regular bus services to Arrecife, Puerto Del Carmen and Teguise market on sundays for about 4 euros per person.

On the negative side -; The weather is constantly extremely windy so sunbathing is only for the bravehearted. The top pool is absolutely freezing and so is not really used by anyone. The air conditioning in our room was very noisy and not at all effective so we switched it off after night 1. We had a garden view room and we were woken every morning at 7am by the very noisy dustmen collecting the rubbish whilst arguing and shouting at each other. And finally The Safe!
Every room has a safe but we had to pay 3 euros a day to use it which I think was rather expensive.
Overall however the holiday was lovely and we were well looked after. We would stay at a HD hotel again but maybe somewhere a little less windy.

Unfortunately this is not the glowing review I would have liked to have wrote but it is not the hotels fault or Thomas Cook. My family and I have just returned from the half term holidays from HD Beach resort where they have had the worst weather in 20 years. It was cloudy, cool at 19 degrees all day and very very windy for the whole week. Like I said the hotel or TC can't be blamed for that.

The positives, the staff are the most hard working people I've every seen. They do not stop yet they are friendly and helpful. On arrival prior to checking in at 21.15 the reception staff told us to abandon our cases and go and get something to eat and drink after our long day of travel. Genuine nice touch. Once eaten we went to our room 213 top floor at the corner with an excellent sea view with balcony. We were met with a beautifully decorated bed, yet our daughters bed had not been made up. We went to reception, the bed was made up instantly whilst we had a drink. The bathroom is a big room with double sinks and a large walk in shower. It has a hair dryer which I thought was ok, not the fastest but did the job.

The all inclusive food was good. There was a variety of food for all tastes inclusive of seafood dishes, pasta, salads, grilled steaks and even fish fingers or chicken nuggets for the children. Even if it was not all to your taste, there was always something to eat. In between breakfast and lunch and again in the afternoon between lunch and tea, the pool bar had a variety or snacks like rolls, croissants, cold meats, hotdogs and burgers. The meal times are roughly from 7.30-10.30, 1-3 and 6.30-9.30. One evening during the week the head chef walked round the restaurant and asked each table if everything was ok with the food and if there was anything else you would like to see on the menu, which I thought was great. At any meal time you will find the manager walking around and he is very approachable, giving out lolly's to children who ate all their meals. As for drinks normal all inclusive, cheap local produce, larger, house wines, fizzy drinks and coffee. Have to recommend the cocktails.

The spa was a lovely treat with the children allowed in between 10-11 every morning, which was a life saver as the weather was bad.

The hotel is on the edge of Costa Teguise but is a five minute walk max to the nearest shops and 15 mins into the main town which is lovely. We eat out one night, which you can read in another review. The bus stops at the top of the car park which takes you to Arriciffe or Porto De Carmen for € 2.80. From there you can also go further onto Playa Blanca.

The negatives, there was only one bar, it was a good bar with great entertainment, with the hardest bar tender I've seen, but if you want a quiet relaxing evening there is nowhere else. As it was half term it was busy, so they couldn't always keep up with topping up the food in the restaurant. All four pool were freezing but again that's because the weather was so bad.

To end on a high note, we had plenty of rest. Thomas cook only took it on this February so are open to all the suggestions we can make. I just wish you better weather. The most amazing thing we found so helpful whilst the weather was bad, was the amazingly fast internet. I know it's sad but it kept our 7 year old quiet when the weather was too bad to do little else.

Room 119 excellent, lovely views of beach and hotel entrance, spacious, clean, very modern, coffee maker, fridge, toaster, microwave, even though we didn't use them they were there. Wifi in the room and throughout the hotel. Bathroom again large, spacious with walk in shower and two basins. Cleaned daily. Food was also excellent with plenty of choice and theme nights. Staff, very friendly and pleasant and kept busy. Animation team never stopped. Entertainment was animation team and other enternainers. Hotel is in an excellent location, close to amenities with ample sports facilities, ie football, tennis, volleyball, table tennis, pool table, bicycles. Pool areas were very spacious with no rush for sunbeds, bliss. Overall we spent an excellent fortnight at this hotel and would recommend and return.
