Very friendly guy. Simple yet good tapas. Good beer. The pulpo is a favourite and my granddaughter is fan of meatballs.

Txalepa is a great Spanish bar. Excellent tapas good wine and friendly staff. It seems pointless to travel to a Spanish island and then spen time in a mock British bar when so much better is available

This little Basque tapas bar is a favourite of mine. The food is always good, the portions are right and I like the people who run it. They serve nice chilled white wine in a decent measure and the beers (small one is a caña, large one is a jara) are often served in ice cold glasses.

They do special Basque tapas and racione portions which are slightly bigger ( on the weekend and these are chalked on the board outside), or they have a small selection of Spanish tapas. Not a huge menu, but always good, not fantastic food but simple. Basque tapas tend to be slightly different than the average Canarian tapas available in Lanzarote.

If there is a football match on of an evening, there is a good chance the bar will be packed early and food will be very slow in coming. But a nice spot to sit outside and have a drink before going on to somewhere else (there are so many places in that area near the town square).

The sound of TX is ch in Basque. I actually think the spelling on this site maybe wrong (easily done as it is not a familiar sound to the English language). I am sure its Txapela not Txlepa, I will check next time I visit.
