Stayed at this hotel from 4-11 February 2014 and was delighted with our stay. We chose the half board option which was ok for us, however bearing in mind this is a 5 star hotel the prices of drinks are in keeping with this. If you are intending to be hotel based, I would definitely recommend getting the all inclusive option with your tour operator. However you can take a walk down to the local bars and get lots of good deals on various types of drinks.
I was delighted when I first saw our room, the twin vanity unit, bath and shower, and finally the wonderful view of the beach.
The selection of food on offer was exceptional. There was almost everything you could imagine for your choosing for breakfast, and for dinner. Whilst I accept that we stayed off season, this is the first hotel in 30 years of abroad travelling that I felt the restaurant wasn't like a school dinner hall, with the scraping of chairs, and endless queuing and jostling for your preferred meal. The atmosphere was very calm, civilized and very enjoyable. Our thanks to Laura, one of the Restaurant hospitality team, who meeted and greeted alongside her colleagues, most of them always had some pleasant conversation to indulge in, and we felt like old returning friends from
the previous year.
The pool area (although under renovation) was lovely, the pool incredibly cold (but it is February)the sunbeds were so comfortable, and towels exchangeable if you needed free of charge. You are only a hop skip and a jump from the beach which made a nice scenery change if wanted.
We didn't sample the evening entertainment, not for any reason, but what was advertised on the entertainment board again seemed quite classy!
The reception area of the waterfalls and the bridges lit at night was just beautiful, really well thought out.
There was just such a nice ambiance about the hotel, all staff were friendly, courteous but professional. I honestly cannot fault this hotel, and will definitely return.

My wife and I just had a two centered holiday in Lanzarote five nights and the above hotel and nine nights at the Sol Lanzarote in Matagorda. It is the second time we've been to this hotel, and it is everything that we remembered, from checking in to leaving everything was first class.
One of the days that we were there, we went on the hotel tour which took us to the LEVEL which has nine individual bungalows priced at £900 per night- a bit overrated for us! Then we went to the master rooms priced at £300 per night again in our opinion it was overrated. Standard rooms are better value and fit for purpose and they all have the impressive facilities that are located around the hotel.

A lot has been said about the hotel itself, the indoor gardens, the Manrique presence, the views etc... however to point out the extra special points, taxi 20euros from airport, checking in was quick, friendly and I got served ice tea ! I had a standard room which was large with an additional 2 roomed bathroom, his and her sinks and an array of goodies. The bed was the comfiest I have ever slept in on a holiday, there is a mini fridge in the room in which the first contents are free if you are AI and then you pay per item after that. If you wish tea and coffee making facilities it is 20 euros per week but there is a great supply of different teas and coffees replenished every day. The balconies are private and quite large with comfy cushions on chairs and window fronted to cut down on the wind factor. It rained heavily one night and it was like a swimming pool out there and the cushions were wet through, by the time I got back from (the fabulous) breakfast, the whole balcony had been hoovered dry and dry cushions replaced. The outside area has table tennis, mini golf, checkers etc.. pool is gorgeous (but please stop allowing guests to reserve sunbeds !!) the sunbeds are comfy and sturdy and pool towels are easy to go and pick up every day from the little cabin near the pool bar (why would anybody want more than 1 a day?) food and bar areas are super and varied, yes drinks are served in plastic glasses but the solid type, not picnic type which is good. Overall a fabulous hotel for adults looking for peace and quiet.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to have a sea view

Just returned from a week at Melia Salinas in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote. The hotel has a high status web site aqnd probably some fantastic rooms. The building was designed by the famous Cesaer Manrique and is very impressive with a fantastic atrium with tropical vegetation, pools streams and waterfalls. Makes an amazing view when lit at night and open to the stars and moon.
We had contacted the hotel and asked if we could have a sea view. The reply from Vanessa at the hotel was welcoming and we did just see the sea.
The room was rather small but had every thing we required. The furniture and fittings were some what dated. But the safe was free, the pool towels were free, not even a deposit and there was free wifi in the bedrooms. Admittedly it was very slow but hey other hotels charge for all these services so well done. There was a small fridge and a kettle and the latter is unusual for continental hotels. However be warned you may be charged if you use the tea and sugar. This does seem a little petty. We were told it would be E20 per week!
The pool was fine but repair work round the edge was making the area very uneven and we did see several people with strapped arms and ankles. There were plenty of sun beds although rather ancient they were quite comfortable.
The staff were very efficient and amiable. The dining room staff especially provided a very good service. The buffet was excellent. Breakfasts were superb with lots of fresh food and piles of fruit. A wide variety of cereals, cold meats, cheeses, yoghurts provided a healthy option but there were also fried eggs, bacon, sausages, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms..... I could go on. The evening also provided a great variety. There was always 2 soups, about 5 different grilled fishes, 2 roast meats, about 4 grilled meats, 3 stews and a variety of vegetables. there was rice, pasta and potatoes.
Oh the cleaning staff were unobtrusive and friendly but they could do with mopping the balconies every day.
The location is also a plus with direct access to the beach and promenade.
Evening entertainment was very average and not very inspired the week that we stayed.

Room Tip: Higher rooms always have better views. Rooms with even numbers get the sun from mid day and throughout the afternoon.

Lanzarote has made the most of what it has to offer - year-round sunshine, friendly people, easy access from Europe and areas of distinctive landscape. Add to this mix some fine hotels, among which the Hotel Melia Salinas ranks very highly. We spent a week there this February (2014) and we have nothing but praise for it. It is well located on the seafront of Costa Teguise; its design is restrained but stylish - with superb murals by Cesar Manrique, the artist to whom the island owes so much; the bedrooms and bathrooms are large and comfortable; there is abundant choice of food
both for breakfast and dinner; and the staff is as friendly and helpful as one could wish. It has facilities that we never got around to trying such as a gym and different restaurants but we enjoyed whatever we experienced. What more can one ask for?

Room Tip: We took what we were given and it worked for us.
