“All Inclusive Holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2014

Have recently returned from this resort where I spent a wonderful time with my Grandson (15). Our accommodation was excellent and exactly as shown on the brochure (Room E212). The apartment has facilities for 4 people Cooker, fridge cutlery plates and cups etc.Have previously stayed at this resort (which I also enjoyed) I became concerned before leaving for this trip as I wasn't so sure given the mixed comments. I shouldn't have worried. The resort is spotless, rooms are cleaned every day and towels changed (except a Wednesday). The children's pool which had missing tiles had been fixed. The food at breakfast gave a full range of cereals, breads, sausages beans etc. The food isn't cordon bleu but there is always something for everyone. At dinner there were a few comments about the same meats being on offer i.e. pork, chicken and fish but again there was always cheeses, salads, soups etc. At the dining room you were always escorted to your table and when finished your meal the plates were swiftly removed by very efficient staff. The snack bar always had burgers, chips rolls and salad available for mid morning snacks. Although we didn't go for lunch I did receive excellent reports from those who chose a lunch over the evening meal. The barman at the snack bar is lovely A...braihim. Alexandra on reception is exceptionally helpful. You can rent pool towels for 10 Euros and a 5 Euro returnable deposit. A safe can also be rented. Wifi can be paid for from reception and there is a machine where you can purchase x days English TV cards for the TV. There is a kids club and mini disco for children and the Animation team work very hard to encourage people to participate. There is also a courtesy bus which will take you to one of the larger beaches and you book this with reception. Taking a Taxi into town will cost an average of 3 Euros. You can also walk into town which will take an average 20 - 30 minutes. There is a small bar around the corner (Monicas) which has Football on every night and quite a few guests from the resort chose to go there on an evening for a pint. The spirit measures are also very generous. There are some shops and restaurants quite near to this resort and you can book some trips with Last Minute.com either in the UK or at their office which is quite near (come out of hotel and turn first left and walk down towards Playa Bastion). The nice thing I like about this holiday was that although All Inclusive I didn't see anyone out of order through alcohol and the young Dads were just happy to be with there children in the pool etc. There a no lifts at this resort and in some parts is 3 storeys high so if you are unable to carry suitcases etc request a ground floor apartment at the time of booking and also contact the resort with your requirement. This resort is one where you may miss for a couple of years but will want to go back to at some point. Lovely for families. I would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Room E212 is in a 2 storey block and at the end with no-one to the side of you. It overlooks the ten...

We have just returned from 11 days at this hotel - family of 4 (children aged 14 and 11) and we had a lovely time. The rooms are cleaned daily and they are very spacious. The staff are very friendly, especially the bar and restaurant staff and the reception staff too (apart from the guy who took our key cards from us at the end of our holiday, he didn't ask us if we'd enjoyed our stay. Don't know his name but we handed them in at approx 4.15pm on Saturday 30th). The food was always hot and tasty. We just wish that their had been more of a variety of meat. Pork was the only choice each night bar 2 of our 11. Plenty of sun beds. You do have to get up at 8am to get a parasol though and you have to stay with beds until 9am otherwise the "towel police" move your towels onto the wall. The evening entertainment isn't fab but it's ok. The hotel is in a great position. Only 10-15 mint yes walk from the main centre and 5-10 minutes from the beach. It's very windy so need to be careful not to burn.

Room Tip: Room C106 is right by the shallow pool and on the ground floor. A good choice if you have young ones...

generally ok overall but a little far out if anyone has walking difficulties. We were ok with that and only a ten min walk up to water park which too is ok, nothing amazing but not as expensive as other ones but no massive rides there. food quite good for a 3 star and drinks too were a lot better than a 4 star we had stayed at week before, the beer, spirits and soft drinks were all good quality and there were never long queues. Previous reviews pretty accurate but don't think we would return as we'd like to be nearer the sea front. Rooms basic but very clean and spacious but the beds were not very soft. The worst thing was the sunbeds, they were soooo uncomfortable it was unreal!!

Excellent we stayed for two weeks plenty of shows on at night in the hotel for the kids or its 10 minutes walk into the town where its a bit livelier with loads of places to eat chinese, indian, steakhouses. The pool was good bit chilly but didnt bother the kids the beach is 5 minutes walk away which we thought was excellent, white sand and black sand both were really nice.theres plenty of day trips to do the prices are ok plenty of public transport to get you there we recommend the costa ranch zoo, there is a waterpark near the hotel but we got mixed reviews from people who went. The hotel food was really good they had theme nights on like chinese, mexican, spanish tapas.Breakfast was excellent an english fry up or continental healthy options. The hotel has a gym which was very dated but the spa was well worth a visit.the rooms are really good they have all the stuff you need tv,fridge, kettle, cooker so overall a really good place we will coming back.

My party consisted of myself, my son, daughter-in-law and 7 year old grandson; we stayed for one week from 18 August 2014. We booked direct with the hotel and stayed on an all-inclusive basis in one of the 2 bedroom apartments, which seemed to be cheaper than booking with one of the travel companies We booked separate flights and got a taxi from the airport which cost 23 euros. It took about 20 minutes to the hotel.

Overall Blue Bay is a well-run, clean, friendly hotel. The staff are exceptionally hardworking, helpful and friendly, especially to the children, Our apartment was on the ground floor of Block D, looking out on the Kid's Club and playground. Not many children seemed to go to the Kid's Club and as far as I could see it was not promoted. The animation team were not that high profile and I wasn't aware of any activity apart from a cookery demonstration a couple of mornings.

There were sufficient sunbeds but not many umbrellas and you had to be out sitting on the sunbeds by at least 8am to get a chance of an umbrella. Until 9am, towels were removed by staff if they were left on sunbeds, which I thought was a good idea.

Overall the hotel area and rooms were clean; beds were clean and towels changed every day. The restaurant was run very efficiently, no wait for a table and tables cleared and re-laid immediately. There were never any flies in the restaurant, even though the weather was very hot. The buffet area was kept very clean, and cutlery and crockery were also very clean. The food was okay, with enough choice for most people. Two minor criticisms: meat/pork was added to all the rice dishes (so as a vegetarian it was not always possible for me to have the rice and it was not always made clear that the rice contained meat) and some meat was re-served the following day. One day in particular, there was a tray of hamburgers swimming in a very unappetitising tray of light brown gravy.

The pool was nice, with shallow areas and deep areas. However, there were lots of missing tiles on the bottom of the pool which created sharp surfaces and could be dangerous.

The evening entertainment was not good at all. It started at 8.30pm every night with the children's disco (this I thought was quite late for small children); the music was always the same. At around 9.15-9.30pm there would be some entertainment, we had a parrot show, reptile show, and birds of prey show. All were pretty bad, with the animals being shown round the audience for photos to be taken. If you wanted a picture you had to pay up front before seeing and deciding whether you wanted the photo or not; this felt a bit of a rip off. Otherwise, music videos would be shown. These were very dated, with music mainly from the 80's and Take That clips. The main entertainment again was very dated with a Rat Pack Tribute (one man singing Sinatra songs); a Beatles Tribute (again, one man singing with the microphone so loud the sound was distorted and deafening). I think the whole entertainment would be greatly improved if the music was updated.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Blue Bay, mainly due to the efficiency and helpfulness of the staff, who created a hassle-free holdiay.

So much better than all the negative reviews. Travelled last few days of July for 14 nights AI. Very good for a 3*+, clean and tidy and food was what you can expect. Themed food nights were great and my 2 children (12-9) found something to eat all the time.
Pool was cool and jumping in was the only way and admit a few tiles missing but didn't cause us any issues. Unattended sun beds were cleared before 9am so be warned. They are uncomfortable but a trip to a local shop soon sorted that for €8.
Staff are friendly and work tirelessly to keep the bar and restaurant running smoothly. The restaurants runs a wait to be seated policy and this works really well so your not fighting over tables!
My children didn't really use the evenings entertainment (Phoenix Nights) as they made so many friends we rarely saw them.
All in all very good and would consider going again.

Stayed for a week with my partner and 2 children (12 & 17). Could not fault it.

Food, really good for an all inclusive, good choices and never a queue. The gardens were immaculate apart from the odd plastic cup blowing around, the pool has some tiles missing (mainly due to kids collecting them from the bottom) but apart from that ok. The beds are all new but rock hard, its worth investing a few euros to get slim lilos to lie on, well worth it.
Beds can be reserved with towels but not before 0900.

We stayed in block e top floor, clean modern room with kitchenette but still near the pool but not on top of it.

Evening entertainment was cheesey but ok, unfortunately the room they do it in was like a sauna. The bar staff were vry good, always smiling and the measures were good, again, never had to queue.

I would highly recomend this to families but not couples, my kids got on so well with the others, they reallyloved it and made friends easily.

Room Tip: E block top floor, overlooks tennis courts but it close enough to the pool and resturant
