Just returned from a 2 week holiday with my husband and 12 year old daughter stayed at this hotel lovely and clean pleasant staff
Food ok but very repitive
Daughter got on well with the reps
Not much to do at night bit far out to walk
Taxis about four euros to town centre
Not as much to do on this island lots more to do on Tenerife
Went to the ranco park
Worth a vist for the bird of prey show
This hotel would be great if it was nearer the town centre
All inclusive drinks and snacks
Were great
Rooms were very spacious
Pools were not heated

Room Tip: Family rooms are good Ask for block 5.6.7.

We have just returned from a week all inclusive, the hotel is very large, but very clean and tidy, the staff (even though not many of them) are very helpful. The entertainment team were very good with the adults and children alike and evening shows were very good. We had gone with a open mind after reading some of the reviews but I have to agree the food is terrible in the restaurant it was always cold and never cooked properly. On our first night I went to pick something from a plate and it was covered in little insects. The snack bar in the day is ok if you like burger, hot dogs chips etc (they were always warm). The pool is absolutely freezing.

Stayed here all inclusive from 27 October-3 November- If you have booked to stay here, ignore the negative reviews, as It is a good family hotel which caters for many different age groups. This is our fifth stay at this hotel and have always enjoyed our time here with the family. People need to remember that Barcelo are still only charging the same price as they did five years ago as they make it affordable for people to have a holiday. If you compare this with other four star hotels that we have stayed in Lanzarote in the past 2 years, we do pay another £500 for a la carte food.
Location- hotel is on the outskirts but there is a free bus into Costa Tequise if you do not want to walk the 20 mins into the centre. It only takes 15 minutes from the airport to the hotel which is brilliant, costs 20 euros in a taxi.
Rooms- very spacious and we was upgraded free of charge to a family superior room with sea view which had the sun on the balcony most of the day. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are cleaned on a daily basis. The bathroom has plenty of room with a good powerful shower and towels are replaced every day. It was lovely to have a bottle of wine on arrival in our room as it was a birthday celebration.
Restaurant- good choice of food, there are two sittings, 6.30pm and 8.30pm, this is mentioned in the hotel information and if you arrive at these times there is good, quality, fresh food which is varied every evening. I did observe people who piled their plates high with every variety of food on the same plate, then they moan that there is no variety! No pleasing some people.
The staff in the restaurant work very hard and we have never encountered any member of staff to be rude.
Suggestion-the hotel does need to stick to its policy on acceptable evening wear as It does state that no shorts are allowed at evening meal; however people still did wear them and staff did not challenge this as some people dressed as though they had just come back from the beach!
Bar- all inclusive guests help themselves to drinks at the pool bar and in the entertainment lounge, which has improved as in previous years guests had to queue, which guests moaned about.
Entertainment team- there are 6 activities per day for the children and adults to participate in and the team work really hard to ensure that the adults and children are kept entertained. The club dance is part of the entertainment and everyone tends to join in the fun.
There was plenty of sun beds and never found it difficult to find sun beds even at 11am. The pool bar is salad, chips, burgers and hotdogs available if you don' t want to go to the restaurant for lunch.
Pools- if you prefer peace and quiet there is an adult only pool near the tennis courts, but you do have to pay for your drinks at this pool bar. The water in the two main pools is very cold so be prepared, although this didn't seem to bother any of the children who thoroughly enjoyed the water slide. The water in the jacuzzi was also cold which it never use to be and my suggestion would be that the jacuzzi is sectioned off with a gate to stop children going in it unsupervised as the lifeguard can not see the jacuzzi from the poolside. It would also stop other guests trying to join you in the jacuzzi when you have paid 3 euros to use it and a sign needs to be put in place informing guests of this.
Overall if you want a fun, lively family holiday that is reasonably priced and keeps the children entertained from morning until evening then this hotel will suit you all as a family.

1/2 term holiday with 9+11 yo boys. I took xcbike wife took a few good books for reading next to well utilised pools. hotel is very well maintained and has good evening entertainment for kids. food is really good value, as is the all inclusive booze. The cycling is great from the location as it is central for all the good rides both on and off road. car hire and kids bikes are available close to the hotel. I will go back.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms away from bar if you want a bit of quiet in the evening instead of partying with your...

Recently returned from the barcelo, I stayed with my wife and 2 children aged 5 and 1. I have to say the kids really enjoyed themselves for the week and made friends. We couldn't complain about the weather which helped us spend time around the pool and play in the water.
The entertainment team I felt were pretty good with the kids and were always happy and helpful.
We stayed here for the week and after persevering for a couple of days in the restaurant the 4 of us couldn't take it anymore. We had to eat out every night in the end as the food was "rank" as my 5 yr old put it and the sight of "chips" was driving me nuts.
Overall the room was clean and today, pools were good fun although on the cold side and the food was awful.
This hotel could do with been downgraded to a 3* at most because of this.

Have just returned from the Barceló (29th Oct - 5th Nov) where we had a average stay. Arrived at the hotel around 5pm and had to wait to check in with other people. One person on the desk and one member gladly walking around on the phone not bothering to even make an attempt to help. 10 mins later we got checked in (we were front of the queue), still on the phone and the other was now taking sports equipment back in from costumers who came straight up to the desk. Not a good impression from staff to start with although this did improve slightly during the holiday. Our room was nice and large with a good size bathroom as well - it was a superior room which include Wi-Fi, tried to log in to let family know we were there to find out that we had to go back to reception to get a log on and password, why did they not give this to us on booking in mmm don't know. Food was not brilliant, very repetitive from lunch to lunch and evening to evening, did tell the Thomson rep, she said go later when the food is changed and its one of the best in the resort - the others must be pretty bad then. Food was not really hot, just warm mainly and the service in there was not good, they were slow at clearing tables and serving your drinks was not very quick either. The bar areas were messy with self service for some drinks but not all of the free "all inclusive" ones, which when I asked for one they wanted to charge me until I pointed out that on their menu it was free. The table clearing in the bar areas was slow. Some of these comments also apply to the pool bar area.
the pools looked clean and the gym was good to go and have a workout in and always able to get in.
the location of the hotel is not close to resort centre, but they provide a free bus during the day and taxi's are reasonably priced. If you are able to walk along the paved coast path, it will take you around 40 mins to get there as its near on 3k I would estimate
