“Leisure trip with two mates - 6th-13th November”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 November 2009

Had a great stay in this hotel. Stayed AI with two mates in a suite. Food exceeded expectations - dining room food (quality/choice) was first class. Poolside food was very handy and would prove invaluable for keeping kids fuelled up! (left mine at home with wife)

Hotel was slightly under-staffed but the staff there are extremely professional - this is their job and they aren't just filling in time until something better comes along....not like in Blighty.

Special recognition to :- Elysio, Zaira,Wilfre, Goyo, Said, Muhammed, Slavka.

The key to getting the best from anybody serving you is to remember their names and speak to them in their own language, even if it is only to say thankyou - A lot of my fellow (English) countrymen still haven't grasped this simple concept!

The hotel guests during my stay were roughly 50% Spanish "Mundo Senor" (Spanish SAGA) visitors (very well mannered) followed by 20 % Ingleses, 10% german & French, plus a few Poles.

There is a great beach situated directly behind the Occidental Oasis (which faces the Barcelo). It's easy to overlook if you didn't know it is there. Follow the footpath to the right of the Occidental then turn left....

Also, the new promenade path to Costa Teguise is good excercise and a nice walk.

This is a very big hotel and must be nightmare to run - for the money I paid, I think I got excellent value.

Just got back from a lovely 7 day all inclusive stay at barcelo lanzarote. The hotel was lovely and weather really nice. We booked 2 junior suites, would recomend these as they are bigger rooms.
The pool area very clean, plenty of sun loungers, there is a jacuzzi but its 3 euros for 25 mins.
The food was lovely, something for everybody in the resteraunt ,although some food only luke warm. Theres also a snack bar with burgers, pizza hotdogs in the afternoons. Theres also a Spar directly behind the hotel.
The entertainment was good, plenty for children to do, theres a mini disco every night for kids followed by various acts for the rest of the evening. All of which we enjoyed.
The hotel is a bit out of the way but theres a costal path leading to costa teguise which is a lovely walk and also buses every half hour.
The hotel is understaffed but the staff are helpful and friendly. The only fault we had was the pool absolutley freezing so unalble to stay in it any length of time.
Theres a good choice of trips available for anybody who wants to go on them, would recommened the volcano trip.
Would definatley visit this hotel again.

Hotel – The hotel is quite nice, not the best I have ever stayed in but was worth the money we paid. I found all parts of the pool to be very clean. The wait at reception can be quite tedious and there will often be a queue. The hotel is very suited for families or older couples. I would not recommend this hotel for young groups or young couples (there’s not much to do around the hotel).

Costa Teguise is around €4 in a taxi where there are a few bars (check out Paradise Bar where they have 12 different football games on at a time!).
Porta del Carmen is €2.60 on the bus or €25 in a taxi. PDC is where most of the bars are if you fancy a bigger night out.

Either the A/C was turned off during my stay or it really sucks as it was boiling in the bars!
If you want a pool towel you will need to leave a €10 euro deposit at reception and costs €2 to change your towel.
The room safe and kettle trays are all charged for.
The hotel is a bit understaffed in the restaurant and the bars but never really caused too much of a problem.
I did get woken up every day by someone hammering away and what sounded like a angle grinder, which I didn’t appreciate on my holiday.

Room – The rooms were again ok. Nothing too special. The room and bathroom were very clean and the maids kept them that way. The beds were a bit hard for my liking and the TV has two English channels so that was pretty much useless. Our room was on the ground floor and out view was of a fence and some shrubs which were covered in litter.
There is a fridge provided in your room which is pretty good. Again the A/C was switch off or its really poor!

Pool – The pools are really nice, never too crowded and a fair few to choose from. There is a self serve area for AI guests. Pizza, burgers, hot dogs, San Miguel, soft drinks and water are available throughout the day.

Food –
Breakfast – I only had breakfast once during my stay and was not impressed.
Lunch – As above
Dinner – Although I only stayed for a week the food was quite repetitive. I think we had beef one night and pork every other night.

Took along time to check in...wasn't offered a safe key and had to go back to reception to request one.
Food was well presented and appetising.
Lovely pool area...
A few souvenier shops ,but a good 30min walk to any others.
If you are after a quiet holiday this is ideal.

we have just arrived home from 2 weeks holiday at this hotel , hotel is isolated but we did all inclusive so didnt really have to move out of hotel we have two boys 16 and 13 and they really enjoyed it, the animation team are fantastic and make this hotel ,they were all very friendly. the hotel is understaffed and at times they struggled to keep tables cleared in restaurant ,bar staff are very friendly the food did get repetative but i expect that ,the kids loved the burgers and hot dogs at lunch . there were 8 of us altogether we had a great time i would recommend joining in the activities you will make some nice friends and have a good laugh. the hotel is a good 3 star plus it does need rooms up dating overall a good hotel with lots of friendly staff we would return.

Nice and clean, we stayed in a double/twin room which was big enough for us, lots of cupboard space, take extra hangers! Beds where a bit hard. TV only had 2 English Channels! Maids where in every day, and kept it clean and tidy.
Pool area was nice and clean, the kids loved the slides! You had to be up reasonable early to get your sunbeds.
A small beach was a short stroll away down a volcanic path (just behind the Oasis Hotel) it has little rock pools and nice sand to sunbath on.

AI Plus

We upgraded to AI Plus which is 10 Euros a day. What’s included:-

Free Safe (should be 30 Euros not refundable)
Unlimited towel change (30 Euro deposit),
All international drinks Smirnoff, Jim Bean, Ron Bacardi etc.

We was not told that in the buffet restaurant we could have any drink off the menu ie Rioja at 25 euros a bottle!!! (well there not going to tell you that are they!)

Also you keep your room on, until you check out of the Hotel. You generally have to be out of your room by 10.00am or 12.00. We wasn’t getting picked up until 4.30, so thought it was a good idea.

Food/Restaurant

The Buffet had show cooking, food a bit repetitive (you get that in most hotels) and luke warm. Although the plates where hot!

Lunch at the snack bar was the same every day typical hot dog, pizza burger and chips which was self service.

We are just back from a week in Barcelo Costa Teguise.I must say i got a great deal for half board for 2 adults and baby(free). It ws at least 300 euro a head cheaper than the 2 i regularly stay in in Puerto del Carmen.Rooms spotless and adequate only thing was air con not grat as previously mentioned by others but we managed fine with it.The food was fine good selection of every thing i wouldnt have gone full board as food would have been very repeditive, but saying that if i had a few small kids with me it would be worth going for.
Staff very busy in all areas all the time over worked etc but i found them all pleasant and helpful just understaffed.
Pool areas fine i did nt like main pool area as very loud music loud people drinking beer with tatoos etc which i dont go on holidays to mix with but baby pool and other pool near kids club nicer and much quieter water in all pools very cold not heated in baby pool but weather great so was ok to tolerate it.
Kids club, playground, minigolf etc all lovely and there seemed to be a good entertainment programme.
Area where hotel is located is a bit isolated but taxis outside all the time.
Overall very good cheap hotel ideal for families who like to stay in hotel and have every thing at hand would definitly go back again some time.
