A well run hotel with excellent staff ,it caters for the mature couple (over 40) The rooms are very clean but could do with a update , there are two pools and plenty of sun beds around both however there are still some who got up at dawn to reserve them. Overall a nice place to stay and we would return

Having read countless reviews of this hotel many from people who return year after year, I can understand why they do it. We returned home from this hotel, completely relaxed and refreshed after what was a first class holiday, from the excellent service we received at all levels from staff with smiles on their faces determined to ensure you had a memorable holiday.

We were allocated room 441 which had a lovely side sea view and overlooked the lower pool area, which was the area where the daytime entertainment was held, although we chose to observe rather than participate but was amusing to behold. The room itself was perfectly clean and tidy and maintained that way by the excellent cleaning staff whom we never encountered. We were fortunate to have 2 sunbeds on the balcony which allowed us to enjoy the late evening sun, a real bonus. The pool bar provided refreshments between 10.00 and 18.00.

The restaurant was professionally managed and the food selection was excellent and for a fussy eater like me there was always a good choice of meals. We had taken the all inclusive option on booking and what a bargain that was, with lunch taken in the restaurant every day as an escape from the glorious sunshine we enjoyed. A litre of Sangria helped to wash down the evening meal, then onto the Monkey Bar for a few cocktails and to relax in a convivial atmosphere. We didn't go into the pavilion for the shows as that isn't what we look for in a holiday but many do and they all seemed to enjoy the experience.

Earlier reports mentioned gushing restaurant staff, but I think the fact that they do remember returning guests is impressive and, as we will become returning customers, look forward to greeting them as we will always remember the friendly service we received on our fist visit to this Gold hotel.

We were going to keep our room as we weren't leaving until 17.30 at a cost of 32 euros but we would have had to vacate by 16.00 but as they do allow you to book a half hour slot in a spare room to shower and change before departure we chose that option.

Yes we did pay 3 euros a day for the extra tv channels and also for use of a safe, but we chose to do that and didn't think it was a rip off, we had the use of both to make our stay nicer.

All in all we had a great holiday, will certainly return and thank everyone at the hotel and Thomson for their part in our holiday.

Room Tip: The rooms 425 up to approx.- 460 were top floor with side sea views not overlooked and with late eve...

Great hotel with excellent staff. We are a couple aged 39 - 41 and wanted somewhere nice and quiet to stay on our first holiday away without the kids and we got it. Suite with sea view was excellent and was kept very clean during our stay. Food was great with plenty of choice for everyones taste. Staff were some of the best we have come across, always smiling and attentive to your needs. We were possibly the youngest couple during our stay as most others are older but always willing to chat and have a laugh. We went half board but upgraded on to AI after 1 day as we felt it was good value for money if you enjoy a few drinks of an evening and were not bothered about going out to eat elsewhere although the choice is plenty within a 15min walk of the hotel. We will be back here over the next few years when we need to unwind and relax whilst having a good time with the other guests and staff. Many Thanks Corona Playas you deserve your Gold status.

Stayed here for two weeks in September and had a really wonderful holiday. The location is really good a nice stroll along the sea or along the road/The food was very good always plenty of choice and always very hot/The staff are excellent and treat all guests with the same friendliness and service .We e-mailed and asked to upgrade to a sea view room in the main building and this was done for us. The entertainment was good with some really good acts .It may not be the plushest hotel around but you would be hard pushed to find one with such great staff and service .For anyone wanting a friendly holiday were you will be well looked after this is the place to go.

Room Tip: All the rooms are a good size and all have a decent view of either sea, garden, or pools.

Our first and last Thompson Gold (10 day hol 19-29 sept) chosen for last minute availability, adults only and good reviews.
Out thanks to the kind and helpful hotel staff especially Maitre De the lovely Alberto who was professional to a tee without gushing over guests which some restaurant staff continuously did looking false and ridiculous. Thomson reps also take note.
The accommodation was basic but kept immaculately clean thanks to housekeeper Nany. Food basic good standard but definitely not four star.
We were amazed to see some guests queuing and scrambling for seats in the Pavilion to watch evening holiday camp entertainment.
The hotel does have great access and parking for mobility scooters, wheelchairs, zimmers and blinged up walking sticks good job too as the guests were mainly elderly gentile a bonus 'cos there was no foul language or drunken horrible people falling in the pool....however many guests were manically territorial and desperately had to reserve sunbeds before sunrise and go to breakfast in relays to avoid losing that special spot (get a life please) which was hilarious as we found comfortable beds by the pool anytime morning or afternoon! We did laugh a lot because although we're pensioners we looked and felt young and fit for a change and i got my best tan ever!

We returned from the Coronas Playa on the 19th September 2013
The Good : the hotel was lovely and in an excellent location a short walk along a lovely promanard to the centre which had nice bars and restaurant's our room was very spacious and always kept very clean by nany a very nice lady who always had a smile , couldn't fault the food at breakfast ,lunch or dinner always a good choice .
The bad : We booked this holiday a year before as it was my husband's 60th birthday and wanted something special so we booked a seaview room only to be told two weeks after that we couldn't have one and on arriving we soon found out why if you are a returning visitor and there were many you were given preferential trearment so i'm guessing someone who liked are room and had been there before asked for and got our room who betide you if you were a first time visitor because you were last in the queue for everything especially in the entertainment room for drinks we waited 20 minutes for a drink nearly everytime as it was waitress service and the regulars always got served first very friendly staff if you had been there before but we had to take a back seat also at 55 and 60 years of age we were one of the youngest customers there .

The not so ugly : We met some very nice people and the thompson reps were two of the best , the entertainment was good and we did have a good time but won't be one of the returning customers as it was a special holiday and we wern't made to feel it .

Room Tip: If you can get one book a seaview but i doubt it the regulars get first choice otherwise all rooms a...

This was our second visit to the coronas playa , we came 2 years ago. Last time we had a superior room this time we had a garden suite . It was excellent , adjacent to the lower pool , it was large airy and roomy with air conditioning in two rooms ,good clean condition and had a separate bedroom . it also had a 32inch lcd tv , but it only had 4 english channels , 2 news the horror channel and itv 3.We went half board as we don't drink a lot . It was 22 euros each per day to upgrade to all inclusive . A bottle of mateus rose in the restaurant was 11 euros , and a one litre jug of sangria was 10 euros . So overall i think we did save some money , but a lot of people were all inclusive .it was quite amusing to see the waiters look for a wristband and then ask " you pay cash " .The restaurant was excellent with a good choice for breakfast and the evening meal, this was enough for us. There was always sunbeds available , but often without a parasol . If you wanted a parasol you had to go a bit earlier.we stayed by the lower pool most days . The hotel was cleaned regularly and the public areas were spotless .The gold team were always there and available if you wanted them , but they were not pushy. The entertainment was excellent , we saw a top elvis act and an excellent sixties act , but we missed the spanish beatles as they were on the week after. The final verdict , we had an excellent time and i can see why a lot of people are regular repeat guests and they seem to know all of the staff, and they know each other. You know what you are getting when you come to the coronas playa.

Room Tip: Book either a superior room or a garden suite , it is worth the upgrade
