“One of the best hotels I've stayed at”
Reviewed 22 February 2014

This hotel is fantastic. Located on the sea front with a lovely walk along the promenade to the centre of Costa Teguise. We slept very well each night. The rooms are very clean and there is maid service every day. The staff are also very friendly.

We went half-board and have no complaints about the food. Breakfast was very good, with a huge range of food to choose from. The same can also be said for the evening meal. Chefs are also on hand to prepare food right in front of you, mainly fish and meats.

One of the great things about this hotel is the amount of sunbeds. You could find one at any time of the day!

We didn't attend any of the evening events at the hotel as it all seemed a bit too old for us!

Overall a brilliant hotel, would definitely return here!

This was our first visit to Lanzarote and our first Thomson Gold holiday.
With all the positive reviews, our expectations were high, but unfortunately it was not quite up to these expectations. First of all the positive things. The bedrooms are very large and so is the balcony. We emailed before we arrived and asked for a high floor in a quiet location, and this is what we were given. Everything is very clean throughout the hotel. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and give an excellent service in every respect. The hotel is in a good location with a pleasant 15 minute walk along the coast into town.
On the negative side the food was only average for a 4 star hotel in the price range we paid. We did expect more variety and choice for dinner. All the extra prices were a bit irritating, with a charge for wi fi, a charge for a kettle,to use the safe, to weigh your bag, to use the gym. The hotel reception lacked the wow factor that you often get in a 4 star hotel.
The roads in Lanzarote are very good with not much traffic and we found that hiring a car for a few days was the best way to explore the island.

Room Tip: Try and get a high floor.

Stayed here for a week on an all inclusive break in February. It is obvious that most of the residents are "repeaters" and also of a certain age.
The staff are superb and it is understandable why so many people come back, the Thomson entertainment team work their socks off to ensure people have a good time.
It is the first time we have been all-inclusive and the food was ok, the breakfasts were good with choices of traditional "English" or continental. The lunch menu, however, was sparse and very basic and the snacks from the two pool bars were extremely basic. The available drinks were however branded and of a good standard and even the house wine was drinkable!
The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean, however there were no toiletries provided and the bathroom was very dark with 2 small lights being insufficient to light it sufficiently. The main problem was the plumbing, the shower went from normal temperature to scalding to ice cold in a matter of moments and you had to wait at least 10 mins before the cistern filled sufficiently to fill the loo.
The furniture in the bars/restaurant was very shabby and the pool loungers need replacing.
The wi-fi was EUR25 for the week and was fairly reliable if pricey.
Overall I might go back becasue of the staff who, quite simply make the hotel what it is but in order to deserve it's 4 star rating it needs some work.

I came here with my 18 year old daughter to give her a quick break after her mocks and before Leaving cert. The hotel is large, well-maintained and clean. The rooms are spacious, with balconies and en-suites. Staff are extremely, almost manically, friendly. We chose half board. All meals are in the large Crown restaurant. There is the standard selection of continental or cooked breakfast, buffet style. Only reservation is the absence of fresh fruit juice. Instead there are some cordial/squashes from a machine - not pleasant at all. There are a wide variety of dishes at dinner too, also served buffet style. There is a "show cooking" item each day where part-cooked food - fish, usually - is grilled fresh for each customer. Other dishes are ok, but tend to be very salty. There is entertainment laid on each evening. We didn't go, but could hear clearly from our rooms: beatles cover versions, comedian, singalong evening. You will get best value if you enjoy this and attend. If you don't go and stay in your room you will hear it anyway! The vast majority of guests are retired couples (could be due to the time of year) and the hotel has made an effort to suit the clientele's needs. Sound proofing isn't great. If your neighbour spends 30 mins going round her room in high heels in the early hours of the morning, you will know about it! Overall, a good hotel, although I would choose something smaller next time. We paid €600 each for 5 nights half board.

We returned 16 January after spending 28 nights at the Coronas Playa. The staff are superb and the food is very good. We are fussy eaters but always found something on the menu. The room was clean but badly in need of upgrading. Pool areas were kept fairly clean and tidy. In our opinion the Monkey Bar furniture should be stored and put on the bonfire 5th November as it is so uncomfortable. The entertainment was okay I suppose but if it wasn't for Les and Lesley most people we spoke to wouldn't bother with it. As for the Thomson Animation Team apart from Mike they were useless. The reps were helpful especially Gemma. Since we returned have been trying to get booked up for 28 nights same time as last year but Thomson are asking £700 more this year. We can't understand why this price hike because when we booked last December the price only went up by £292. It's no wonder people are complaining about the standard dropping Come on Thomson stop being so greedy. Ally and Val from Elgin
