“Excellent Hotel but AWFUL AIRPORT”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

We had a wonderful holiday in this Thomson Gold Hotel.
The hotel has two large swimming pools with adequate space for all. The first pool as you step out from the reception is quiet and the lower pool is where the action is, for those who want to participate in whatever is going on with the Thomson Reps.It can be a bit noisy down there with the games and / or music so we preferred the quiet end. Everyone is catered for !
Watch out early birds - towels are removed from unattended sunbeds before 10am every morning.
The hotel staff & Thomson Reps are very friendly and helpful. They all seem to be very happy in their work and always ready to meet you with a delightful smile and cheerful greeting.
The entertainment seemed to be very popular with most folk, particularly at night in the ''Tent '' with a fair variety of acts to to meet all tastes.
Food was very good with a good selection. All buffet style except for main course lunch for those on 'all inclusive'.
We had a very nice suite but I did have a look in a couple of rooms which were also very nice and spacious, which made us think that we could have managed fine in one, thus sparing the extra cost of the suite. ( We don't like a small room which we have be lumbered with elsewhere in the past - hence the suite for space.)
CostaTeguise is relatively quiet and about 10 minutes walk along the promenade from the hotel. A nice evening walk.
Weather for our two weeks was excellent.Sunshine every day. For anyone who has not been here yet be careful in the sun. There is a pretty constant breeze, sometimes a wind, which is a welcome coolant in the extreme heat but can also fool you if you're not careful and can result in some nasty burns if you're not protected. We did meet a friend who ended up with 2nd degree burns on his second day of holiday......so please be warned.
Now the airport !!
After a relaxing two weeks we arrived at the airport to be greeted with big queues at the bag drop area. What is the point of the bag drop ? could someone please advise. The overwhelming majority of passengers were lined up to drop their bags whilst those who had not booked online had a very short queue. What made it even more frustrating was the inadequate air conditioning. It was very hot in the terminal.
After surviving the check-in the next hurdle was the security. Big queue of course. Having travelled a bit I know the routine but unfortunately the alarm went off when I passed through the scanner. A combination of old age/ heat / frustration caused me to forget that my ipod was still in my shirt pocket. Oh Dear ! A very serious crime it appears in Lanzarote. I was then subjected to what I can only call abuse by a big tall security man who ordered me to go back through the process again with the ipod in a separate tray, but not allowing me to take by belongings which had gone through with me. So I was at one side of the security border and my personal belongings at the other. (This is a situation which has resulted in theft ) Among the thoughts that went through my mind was '' this is what the Gestapo must have been like '' . I have never been spoke to like that before. (........except from my wife !! )
Having barely survived that it was then on to the extremely busy departure area. This was the beginning of June - what must it be like in the busy periods of July & August ? The first port of call was the toilets. Gents was OK but there was a queue of at least 2 dozen women waiting to use the facilities in the Ladies. As I came out the Gents one frustrated lady decided to ignore convention and came into the Gents to do the business. Ladies toilets are obviously totally inadequate. A disgrace. So please be warned ladies.
My experience going through this airport was bad enough to make me decide not return to Lanzarote this century.
However, provided you behave in the airport I would have no hesitation in recommending Lanzarote for the sunshine and this Hotel for the exceptional staff and all facilities.

Room Tip: If you intend to bed down early a room down by the lower pool near the sea would provide a quieter s...

Dave & Yvonne.
My wife and I aren't easy to please but we could not fault our holiday at Coronas rooms large (huge compared to some) and immaculate, staff could not be better, all areas of hotel outside spotless and plenty of loungers around the pools. Food at every meal was very good hot and a good selection no queuing. There was entertainment every night in the Pavillion from 8pm to 11-30pm surprisingly very good. Thomson reps put on a great comedy show on the last night perfect ending to an excellent relaxing holiday. Go with Dereck on the two trips into town very klowledgeable. No holiday makers under 18 at this hotel.
P.S. Book one of your nights at the M.H.T. Music Hall Tavern, a very good three course meal and a fantastic drag comedy show worth the money.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a room for balcony overlooking pool. As I said go and see the show Music Hal...

My wife and myself have had two 14 day holidays in this hotel this year, in March and in May/June both of these on an all inclusive basis. Reception gave us a very warm welcome and were allocated the room that we requested via email. Breakfasts were first class with two chefs on duty from 0730 hours and their poached eggs and omelettes were superb. Further, the choice of other cooked dishes was excellent particularly the choice of two kinds of creamy scrambled eggs. One with either ham, mushrooms or cheese the other plain but really good. There was also a wide range of cold meats and plenty of fruit and a wide choice of breads. Lunch was a choice of two homemade soups, an extensive salad bar and a choice of hot meals all freshly cooked. There is a gala dinner every Monday and the smoked salmon is wonderful as is the choice of fresh salmon, turkey and prawns. You will not go hungry in thid hotel! Further, the hygiene standards are really high throughout the hotel. The drinks choice on the all inclusive option is extensive and as it is all waiter service there is none of the long queues and pushing for service that so many other all inclusive hotels have as there is not the attitude of "getting smashed as quickly as possible" we did not see even one example of this. The rooms are enormous as are the balconies. There were comments by someone else in trip advisor about the chairs in the dining room and in the rooms. These have all now been replaced with new furniture. The hotel in currently being rewired to allow full free internet access and also to provide all the tv channels from the UK. The staff are very friendy ,there is very good service and they have fantastic memories relating to what you like to drink. We do have one complaint and this relates to the choice of house wines on the all inclusive option, they are awful! You can order other wines from the main wine list at a discount of 50% but we cannot understand how they can offer such a wide range of superb cocktails, any type of branded drink or, a wide range of liquer coffees but poor wine. There is a good range of entertainment in the Pavilion but this is a separate building close to the Crown restaurant. There is also entertainment some evenings in the Monkey Bar which is part of the hotel proper. We have already booked to return and the all inclusive option is the proverbial "no brainer" great value!

Room Tip: Ask for sun in the afternoon. There are bungalows available at extra cost but these are quite a dist...

Hotel was very good, plenty of variety of food at all meal times. Have to agree with a previous review that sometimes the restaurant staff were a bit OTT.

Rooms very spacious and reception staff very helpful.

Only moan is that the entertainment was a bit "holiday camp" both daytime round the pool, and in the evening in the Pavilion. The entertainment in the Monkey Bar was far better.

Not sure whether we would make a return visit, but the area is lovely with plenty of restaurants and bars to visit.

Room Tip: Although our room had a sea view overlooking the entertainment pool, it would have been quieter to h...

From the minute you arrive at this wonderful hotel and are greeted by the most friendliest of staff you know that you are going to have a great holiday. The rooms are extremely spacious and clean. There are plenty of sun loungers and even if some people still decide to reserve them with towels, they are quickly removed, a policy of which all hotels should adapt. The food in the restaurant is of a high standard and the waiter service is a nice touch. You really feel at home here and are very well looked after. The top pool area is very quiet and ideal if you don't fancy joining in with the daily activities which are ongoing, fun and a fabulous way of meeting new friends. Mel and Connor work very hard making sure everyone has a great time. The evening entertainment, headed by the resident duo (Les & Lesley) are just fabulous. Lesley has the knack of making even the simplest of things so funny and will keep you entertained throughout, not forgetting her lovely singing voice. Top acts from all over also make this part of the day special. There is also the Monkey Bar if you fancy a cocktail or two and a nice way to unwind in the evening. All in all as far as Thomson Gold all inclusive is concerned, this hotel is first class, fantastic value for money and the reason for our third consecutive visit. Well done and thank you to everyone for making our holiday so memorable.

This was my first time in a Thompson Gold Hotel and was very surprised as everything was a new experience in a holiday for me. I stayed there for 2 weeks the staff, food entertainment weather could not have been better. I had a very slight medical problem but the staff were very quick to come to my aid and the paramedics sorted things out for me with no need to be taken to hospital. I am disabled and hired a mobility scooter which the hotel let me go every where on it even in the lift. The food was fantastic with a wide variety every night. The evening entertainment was the best I have seen in a Thompson hotel. I will be returning.
