First time in a Tui Gold, adults only hotel. We with definitely go adults only in the future. The hotel has a very relaxing feel. The staff are very friendly and treat you like a old friend. This is probably because most of the guests are returning guests, Quite a few we met had been more than 10 times previously. Many reviewers have made comment about the average age of the guests. Most guests seem to be retired. We are in our fifties and were amongst the youngest staying there in the week before Christmas. That said almost everyone we met was extremely friendly and this maid for a very enjoyable holiday. The food in the hotel is very good but not extravagant. We do not eat meat but were able to find a good selection of choices every meal time. Usually 5/6 meat choices, pasta and rice dishes, 2/3 fish options every evening and always fresh fish cooked to order. Plenty of salad variety and plenty of dessert choices. The evening entertainment tool place in a tented structure called the pavilion, the house band was a due called Mellow Yellow and they were fantastic. every evening there is a guest act also and there were also to a good standard. The hotel has two swimming pools which are not heated so usually quite empty during the winter. A couple of days of decent sunshine soon made it bearable to swim. We stayed by the lower pool where the entertainment team - Lee and Taylor - offered a variety of games and activities every day for those who wanted to join in. They did a fantastic job and had a great rapport with all the guests. The monkey Bar is the place to go for a night cap. they have a great selection of alcoholic coffees and hot chocolates. If you want a bit of sun and simply to chill out this is a great choice.

We have just returned from our 6th holiday at this hotel and a 21 day holiday over Xmas and New Year . Not supprising the staff again were some of the best we have encountered at a hotel and they work very hard to ensure guests enjoy their stay.

If you wish to have a room/balcony that faces the sun in the afternoon email the hotel, we had room 619 and we had the sun on our balcony from around mid day to after 5pm, we had a view of the sea and the top swimming pool, lovely spacious room kept very clean.

We found the food was generally up to standard and suited us, for information there is a doctor situated attatched to the hotel, you just go out of thr front hotel entrance, turn right just walk past the collection of small shope and Dr Kanz is on the end of the building in a walk in section, this is part of the hotel buildings.

For information, we needed to get a cold remedy and found we could not buy this in the supermarkets, we had to go to a pharmacy and all we could get was just one expensive pack of spanish cold pills, we were told if we wanted something else we would need to see a doctor, our advice is its worth taking your own cold/flue remedy,s etc , it was nice and warm when we went but got a cold/flue from another person.

The hotel entertainment in their refurbed Pavillion was fair with some UK acts, the only thing we did not like was the seat cushions were very thin and uncomfortable, we complained to the hotel and they told us the cushions would be replace this year 2018 so hope that is soon done .

Internet Wi , there is wi fi but is a bit slow but ok for emails etc, you can upgrade this to a faster speed we believe but you will have to pay You will get your wi fi info when you book in, the user info is on a small set of info you are given by reception, to log in to the internet you put in the usernam/set of numbers you are given and the password is your room number.

All in all, a great hotel, very good and helpful staff, would we go again, Yes .

Room Tip: Email the hotel and request a room you would like, ie a room with sun on the balcony in the morning or afternoon etc .

Arrived 31/12/2017 till 11/01/2018

Dont bother booking here if youre even remotely young. "No under 16's" should be changed to "no under 50's".

We've been stared at constantly by pensioners, we could not even get a simple smile back from any of them. 'Respect your elders', maybe they should respect younger people.

Enjoyed the first few nights, but have rarely made it past 22:00 in the evening watching the poor entertainment.

The TUI team show was a good laugh, the reps were very nice.

Bar and waiting staff were brilliant, all very friendly and attentive.

Reception staff were great, coming to translate between me and the paramedics when they arrived.

On 09/01/2018, My girlfriend suffered an asthma attack at 23:30, my help was not enough after around 45 minutes of trying to assist her, so I was obligated to call for an ambulance which we left in at roughly 00:35.

Everything was sorted a couple hours later, we got back to our hotel at 02:30, slept.

Woke up to a phone call at roughly 09:45 saying the manager would like to see us, definitely was not expecting it to be about several noise complaints from other guests.

Complaints made about our room. Too much noise at 6am and also said we were disruptive in bars. Although we were asleep well before and after 6am, and were quietly talking to another couple in the bar the night before.

The only noise made was between 23:30 and 00:30, due to an ambulance arriving, and the intense situation of me panicking about my girlfriend not being able to breathe with immense pain in her chest and back.

Very insensitive of multiple other guests to complain about an ambulance, even more insensitive of the manager to feel the need to talk to us about these complaints and tell us to be quiet.

Never been so excited to leave a holiday and go home.

Will definitely never come here again.

P.S we swam with sea lions at Rancho Texas splash & animal park, which is the only thing I would definitely recommend.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Coronas Playa late-November to early-December for 2 weeks.

The hotel itself is in a decent location and is very well presented. The rooms are nice and spacious (we had a suite with garden view) and the pool area is very clean. We used the pool bar at the bottom pool every day and had no complaints, the service was always good. Another positive is the Monkey Bar, all drinks included on all inclusive was great! The service was also great, shout out to Aleksander who always made sure we were topped up.

Now to the not so great things, the hotel entertainment is all focused towards people aged 60+. Being 25 & 29, this wasn’t great for us! This reflects both day and night time entertainment. Also the restaurant wasn’t as good as we’d hoped. Sometimes it was okay, others not great at all. I mentioned on the feedback form during our first week that there was too much fish, but this didn’t change in the second week so feedback wasn’t taken onboard.

All in all, we had a nice time away in the sunshine but I wouldn’t rush back to the Coronas Playa unless the price was right.

We had our first holiday at Hotel Coronas Playa from 21/12/17 to 04.01.18 and it won't be our last.
We flew from Exeter with TUI with no problems on the outbound or inbound flight just over 3.5 hours each way. The airport transfer was very good approximately 25 minute ride with the Coronas being the second drop off, check in was very quick and we were soon banded up and given a small passport folder which contained your room keys (2) and maps and various details of the hotel facilities + your wifi login password details you take this passport with you at meal times and leave on your table to show it has been allocated. At check in your can put a deposit (€10.00) on two pool towels which is refunded on check out and rent a safe deposit box situated in your room for €3.00 per day. Once you are checked in your cases are labelled with your room number and delivered for you by the bell boy.
You can upgrade at reception at any time if you are not all inclusive the are three options which are per day :-

Red - Includes all branded drinks & meals/snacks :- 26.00€

Blue - Drinks only package includes all drinks with or without alcohol including branded names :- 20.00€

Yellow - Non alcoholic drink and food package included all non alcoholic drinks snacks & meals :- 15.00€

We had a standard room (329) which looked out onto the lower activity pool, the room was very large and spacious with plenty of wardrobe space and a big shelf to put your cases on (pictured) there is a kettle supplied with tea and coffee and milk sachets supplied which are replaced as used, under the dressing/table ledge there is a mini fridge which contains a large bottle of water. You can access the hotel wifi from your room the signal is not ultra fast but adequate for browsing, if you require a faster signal you can upgrade at reception by the day or week at additional cost. The bathroom has an over bath shower with a plastic curtain which is the only criticism about the room, it could be replaced with a hinged splash screen. There is a dispenser in the shower area for hair and body wash and another by the sink for hand washing, there is a fitted hairdryer also which I was informed was ok but not very efficient.

There is one restaurant at the hotel "The Crown" where you eat all your meals buffet style apart from lunch time, at breakfast and dinner you wait at the restaurant entrance and are escorted to your table with usually lots of kisses and hugs. Breakfast consists of all the usual favourites from the full english fry up to all the cereals fresh fruits you could want, after your allocated your table you help yourself to tea/coffee and juices from machines all around the restaurant, there is three toasters which are some of the best I've used at hotels which actual toast your bread with only one pass + there is a dedicated toaster for gluten free patrons.
The lunch time is slightly different you can choose to eat inside or outside from either a fixed menu or from a specials board which is changed daily, you pick where you want to sit and your food and drink order is taken you will then have your orders delivered directly to your table.
Evening dinner resorts to be taken to a table and choosing for yourself from the buffet counters. We found the food at all the meal times to be very good quality with a great range to choose from, the evening dinners usually had a theme menu which changed daily from Carribean to Spanish or Mexican etc all very good. There has to be something for everybody even the so called fussy eaters and you can always find something new to try!

Restaurant Times:-

Winter Summer
Breakfast 07:30 - 10:00 07:30 - 10:00
Lunch 12:00 - 15:00 12:30 - 15:30
Dinner 18:30 - 21:30 19:00 - 22:00

There are two pools at the hotel a lower activity pool where there are daily quizzes etc and the daily activities are organised from or the upper pool which is the quiet pool for relaxing around, both pools are very clean and the water temperature is fresh but it did not stop us from having a daily swim including Christmas and New Years Day, great not to have balls and lilo's floating about. Both pools are sited close to there own pool bar where your can get your drinks and snacks from including pizzas, toasties, crisps and ice creams.

Pool Bar Times:-

10:00 - 18:00

The hotel is sited on the seafront with a long promenade outside running along to Costa Tiquise town which will take approximately a 20 minute walk to reach, there are all the usual shops bars and restaurants here if you fancy a change from the hotel. To the front of the hotel there are several shops where you can purchase daily english papers or other bits and pieces, alternately cross the road and got right and you will come to a few more shops and a Dino Supermarket where you can buy almost everything you require. I you carry on walking for a couple of minutes past the supermarket you will come to the local bus stop where you can get the bus to Arrecife for €1.20 each way which takes about 25 minutes or carry on to Porta del Carmen.

The evening entertainment is held nightly in "The Pavillion" which a combination of guest acts and shows put on by the animation team, the resident duo Mello Yellow perform every night and are a very talented couple with a good sound and a very large repertoire of all types of music to suit all tastes and if asked they will try to do requests for you. You do not have to queue at the bar for your drinks in the Pavillion you are served at your table by a dedicated serving team who take your order on a pad system and deliver to your table, you usually find after a couple of drinks they remember your order and with a quick nod your order is automatically taken.

Pavillion Times:-
20:00 - 00:00

Alternatively you can spend your evenings in the "Monkey Bar" which is situated just outside the main restaurant, there is the same drinks ordering system here as in the Pavillion just find a seat and your order is taken and delivered back to your table, in all the bars there is a great choice of local and branded drinks including Captain Morgan Spiced rum, Jameson Whiskey, Famous Grouse Whisky, Tanqueray Gin and Baileys to name a few and the measures are not skimped on. There is a very popular coffee menu in here with all the favourite liquor coffees topped with cream and chocolate flakes if thats what you like.
They have entertainment in here approximately twice a week which is not to loud so can still talk or even have a dance if you wish.

Monkey Bar Times:-
16:00 - 01:00

Our stay here included Christmas day and New Years Day, on christmas day in the evening there was a gala dinner which was absolutely fantastic with so much choice of food it was hard to try and restrict what you put on your plate. In the evening there was a show in the Pavillion with Mellow Yellow and Christmas carols.
New years day gala dinner was very much the same with again so much food to choose from, in the evening the main entertainment was The Jersey Boys who put a great show on and afterwards up to midnight and beyond Mellow Yellow Returned to provide music to dance to. It was a nice touch that Mario the general manager and the management team and the staff all got on the stage and joined in with the evening celebrations, Mario the general manager is a loverly man who is very approachable and is always keen to listen to any comments or suggestions.

We found all the hotel areas including the gardens to be kept very clean and tidy at all times and some of the cleanest and fresh smelling toilets all over the site, this is a big thumbs up to all the cleaners and gardeners who mainly go unnoticed.

We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Coronas Playa and will be definitely returning next year for Christmas and New year, this hotel will also be highly recommended to all our friends and family for a warm friendly and relaxing stay.

Room Tip: We didn't think it would be worth the extra cost (8€ pppn) to upgrade to a superior room the standard rooms are very large and comfortable.
