We havejust returned from having THE most brillaint 2 week holiday at the Coronas Playa. I have read many reviews and some SO negative, i can also say "where did you stay?"you must be extremely hard to please if you did not enjoy this wonderful Hotel. We had a brilliant room opposite the restaurant, with sun beds on the balcony and the sun from 11am until the evening. I had previously e-mailed the Hotel and requested a room in this postion and that is what we got. It was booked through the Thomson web site only 3 weeks before. As we entered the Hotel we were greeted by friendly faces who were extremely helpful and a drink was waiting for us also in reception ( a nice touch) A porter took our cases to our room again nothing was too much trouble. As we arrived late afternoon we made our way to the restaurant for dinner......EXCEPTIONAL food and hard working and attentive, friendly staff. A special mention to the very lovely, happy Maria with the infectious laugh! also Natty a Mat"rede that joins in and works hard to make sure it all runs smoothly. We have stayed in other Hotels on this island and all the other Canary Islands and the food in the Coronas is Exceptional, what a selection, sadly we have both gained over half a stone though!! Another special mention to our cleaner Nany, she made us wonderful animals and flowers from folding the towels and on Valentines day she left 2 Swans entwined on our bed, just so clever and thoughtful. In the evenings we always went to the Pavillion and like other reviewers, thoroughly enjoyed the very talented Lezley and her husband Lez. (The Score) she had us in fits. We both dance and every evening Lezley would try and beat a record of how many people could dance a watlz on the somewhat small dance floor at the same time, 29 was our maximum. Followed always by a quickstep and sometimes a Latin dance. We had quizzes and lots of audience participation, which we really like. My Husband and i enjoy joining in and won a couple of Thomson Gold prizes plus a couple of cocktails. The acts were all British and thankfully there were not any acts involving poor animals ( as in some Hotels)! The best for me was CJ Jackson, one of the Drifters, he was so polished and what energy, but the highlight was when he asked me up to dance, as previously arranged by my Husband apparently. We had a very good Elvis impersonator and my Husband and several other chaps donned grass skirts and wigs and did a Hula Hula,so funny. This holiday is what you make it, the entertainment staff work tirelessly to encourage people to have a great time, especially Andy and Tiny Tara and not forgetting the lovely Heather in fact everyone that we met were very impressed like us with the whole package. No the Hotel doesn't LOOK elegant and posh, and if that is what is important to you then forget it, but you go inside and its so friendly and welcoming by everybody you would be hard pushed not to enjoy yoursel.f.The only one negative for us despite signs around the pool was the ignorant, selfish few ( and you know who you are) that still reserve the sun beds with towels and then dissappearing into the restaurant for breakfast. WHY? there were plenty for everyone. We have met some lovely people here and some who go back for a month at a time and many who go regularly, so that speaks for itself....we will be back , and thankyou to the Coronas Playa for making our time with you so SPECIAL

This was our first time in Lanzarote and both the island and hotel exceeded our expectations.

When we arrived at hotel Coronas Playa we were greeted with a glass of champagne, a speedy check-in and luggage taken to our room. We were allocated 323, a lovely large room over looking the pool with a sea view. We found the room to be comfortable, relaxing and immaculately clean. A big thank you to Gloria who took care of the room, and us!.

We very much enjoyed our meals; an appetizing array of dishes was available at both breakfast and dinner, with so many choices it was often difficult to decide! We particularly thank two members of the dining room staff, Dulce and Samuel who were so friendly and helpful, they are a credit to the hotel. We opted for the all inclusive package but as we hired a car for the week and were out every day, we rarely had lunch at the hotel. However on the couple of occasions we sampled the lunch at the outdoor snack bar, once again we were afforded excellent service with a good choice of food on offer.

We particularly liked the hotel because it was quiet, and though we didn’t join in the evening pavilion activities, the music and celebrating guests were certainly not a disturbance.

We highly commend all the staff at this hotel, they were consistently, cheerful, efficient and always greeted us with a smile. All in all, this is a well-run hotel and whatever the management is doing - we say ‘bravo’ keep up the good work.

We loved the island and drove here there and everywhere, I don’t think we missed seeing much! The highlight of our daily excursions was experiencing the dramatic, lunar-like landscape at Timanfaya National Park and we have some great photos to remind us of our lovely visit to Lanzarote.

Long overdue but at last new mattresses have been bought for all of the beds. The new Chef is gradually introducing changes to the menu - such as having an Indian themed night (although sadly chips are still cooked!) and bacon at breakfast is cooked fresh on the grill (Monday to Friday).

This was our first visit to Coronas Playa on a half board basis. Upon arrival we were shown to the express check-in where we were greeted with a welcoming glass of bubbly whilst the formalities were carried out.

Our superior room (334) was located on the 2nd floor at the far end of the hotel with a side view of the sea, this provided us with sun and no wind on the balcony for the vast majority of the day.

The room was pleasantly decorated, clean and housed comfortable twin beds joined together.

The superior room package included tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer, dressing gowns with slippers and sun loungers on the balcony.

The room also contained a safe which was available to use for €3.00 / day.

Breakfast and evening meals were taken in the main restaurant, which provided an excellent selection and quality of food, along with very friendly waiting staff.

Entertainment at the hotel was arranged by the Thomson team who did a fantastic job of the daily activities and evening entertainment (a special mention to Andy and ‘Tiny’ Tara who were absolutely superb).

Evening entertainment in The Pavilion was a mix of the Thomson Entertainment team and guest acts. During our stay we were treated to two excellent comedians, a slightly ropey Elvis and a fantastic ex-member of The Drifters singing a host of Mow town songs. We were also entertained by the resident duo Les and the uniquely wonderful and hilarious Lesley.

My partner and I are under 35 and the majority of the guests were over 50, however we met some fantastic people who without a doubt enhanced our stay here (This is definitely NOT a Saga holiday!).

There were plenty of loungers available around the pool however the temperature in the pool was more akin to an ice bath than a relaxing holiday swim.

Local beer in the hotel was €2.50 for roughly a pint, bottled beers such as Budweiser were €2.80 and soft drinks €1.80 in the restaurant.

Service in the hotel was excellent throughout.

The hotel is located right next to the promenade which provides a very pleasant and relaxing walk into Costa Teguise (15 mins direct, 35 mins around the coastal path). The local area also has 3 walking routes of varying distances. There are maps and signposts for these along the way, all of which can be picked up along the promenade.

During our stay we also hired mountain bikes from ‘Evolution Bikes’ situated in Costa Teguise (off the promenade at Playa de las Cucharas). Priced at €8.00 / half day (4hrs) or €11 / full day with opening hours predominately 10am – 5pm.

Although these things didn’t affect us they could be considered a negative to others:

Wi-Fi € 9.00 / day, € 29 / week
Tennis & squash €10 / hour
Limited TV Channels (CNN, CNBC, BBC World + 4 Spanish) or €3.00 / day for a few more
Pool Table € 2.00 per game

Overall we had a great week at Coronas Playa and if you are planning to visit the Costa Teguise region we would highly recommend it.

Stayed for a week from 27th Jan to 6th Feb the staff at the hotel were very friendly with the exception of one waiter I dont know his name but he had a tattoo on his neck ,every thing was very enjoyable until one evening when we went to see the show in the pavilion, he came to serve every one in our row and then ignored us I got the feeling it was because we were allinclusive and the other guests were not. This spoilt our evening and it seemed that whenever he had to serve us his attitude was rude .
